The strawberry daiquiris(virgin) and chocolate dipped strawberries(dark and milk) were absolutely delicious. Wanted to try to strawberry short cake but it looked like half of a sheet cake … my stomach can’t take that much of fabulousness at one go so I opted not to eat any(they looked delish though). Seems like another Unilocaler had went the day after I did(I was there Saturday). Was told by the organizers that the strawberry crop was small this year and that the ones leading to the fair opening was destroyed by rainy days weeks before the festival. They were selling fresh strawberries but were secretly just re-packaging them from ones you can buy from supermarkets. But what the heck, it was for charity so we went ahead and got some anyways. Free admission for fathers on Father’s Day. The LIRR will take you to the Mattituck station where shuttle buses will ferry you to and from the LIRR station(their site has a phone number u can call should you want to inquire more about the shuttles). TIP: If you are driving to the festival, be sure to park at the designated parking lot and take the shuttle to the fair grounds. Never park near the fair grounds unless you get there very early or else you’d be facing traffic the whole time. This is a great small town/local flavor festival. It’s not a large festival but is definitely«charming».

In the passage of returning to NYC from Mattituck for a Meetup, on a whim without planning, our small group ventured to a local fair. The Hamlets on the North Fork contains wineries, farms, and even a carnival fair. This local flair, Mattituck Lions Strawberry Festival, is far remote to anything but strawberry festival but a local fair or carnival fair. Cash only admission adults $ 5.00 and $ 2.00 for children, no pets permitted and parking is included with admission. Every activity is pay per person including contests, games and all rides thus, fair patrons bring lots of cash especially sunscreen SPF30+. A Pay-One-Price Ride Bracelet is available for $ 25.00. Carnival fairs always attract my foodie interests for funnel cake(Fried Dough) and Italian sausage, but sadly no strawberry concoctions hence the name«Strawberry Festival.» I desired strawberry syrup as my topping for vanilla ice cream or even strawberry shortcake but, sadly, none were avail. There is also no fried pickle. Annually operates four days of the year on Father Day’s weekend, rain or shine. Route 48, Old Sound Avenue is open on both the East and West direction controlled by Suffolk Police admitting entrance.

Makes for a nice afternoon or evening on the North Fork the weekend it occurs, especially for locals who prefer it to other more lavish events. Come with a few bucks and either free admission or coupons and hit up some rides, eat some carnival fare(and, of course, strawberry-flavored concoctions), and walk around/relax on foot.
