We perform all types of repairs to domestic and foreign vehicles. Our staff has many years of experience in repairs and knowledge of the repair part industry. We specialize in using these facts to identify the most efficent repairs for each situation and giving customers options for effective repairs at various price levels. We specialize in some repairs that aren’t offered at most other shops. We do exhaust sytem repairs including welding and custom pipe bending and are a Flowmaster dealer. We do machining including lathe and milling machine work and have sources for most other specialized work. We have extensive experience in work on older and classic vehicles and specialize in restoration. We have experince in with high performance vehicles and racing and specialize in modifications to improve importnace.

History

Established in 1998.

The business was started by Mr. Shepard in 1998. Mr. Shepard is a Mechanical Engineer (BSME, MSME) who was employed in the power gereration equipment repair industry for over 25 years. He was downsized in 1998 and decided to start the autombile repair business in order to remain in the Charlotte area. He had been a mechanic in his father’s garage in upstate New York in his youth and had continued being involved in autobile repair and modification as a hobby. He was and still is involved in several classic car clubs as well as in sports car racing with the Sports Car Club of America. The business has served the community for over 11 years and has gained a reputation for honesty and integrity as well as competance and value.

Mr. Shepard was born in Poughkeepsie New York and worked in his father’s garage in Green Haven New York for many years. He attending Clarkson College of Technology and received BSME and MSME degrees. He obtained and MBA from Cornell University. He worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York, Los Angeles, California, Dallas, Texas and Charlotte for a total of over 13 years. He worked for the Westinghouse Turbine Plant in Charlotte for over 12 years. He specialized in repairs to Power Geration equipment. He was «downsized» in 1998. At that time he had a son at Duke University and a daughter at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He started Shepard Automotive Enterprises to ulitize his experince in automotive repair and to stay in the area.
