If I could give no stars I would. My dog was in horrible distress and we brought her in. She could hardly breathe and wasn’t responding to anyone. The Drs had no idea what to do with her and didn’t even give her oxygen, but once my husband requested it they did. We up and left and brought her to an er where she passed shortly afterwards. I don’t know if they could have saved her honestly, but those precious hours before her death were chaotic and they did nothing to help her!

Dr. Messenger and the staff were extraordinarily wonderful! This is one of the best emergency veterinary facilities in the region. Our Malinois Steeler had a very peculiar abcess that came on suddenly by an awn like seed (like a sharp foxtail seed) that entered his body and traveled through his system causing a bad infection. Dr. Messenger is better than «Dr. House» for animals. He’s brilliant and genuinely kind and so compassionate. Don and other staff members were amazing. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Charlotte Veterinary Emergency & Trauma Services is immense! We will never go anywhere else!

Had to take my cat in on Easter Sunday and the staff here were very nice and helped relieve my stress in a stressful situation. My cat had been attacked by another animal after she had managed to bolt from my front door as I tried to bring in bags of groceries. Needless to say when I found her wounds, I panicked and made a phone call to ask what to do. The vet tech I spoke with was reassuring and made me feel confident in my choice to take her here for treatment. The vet was very caring and we got our Stella all patched up in no time. I appreciate their care and how they handled the whole process as it really made a difference in how stressed and anxious I was during that time.

I visited cvets on ⁵⁄₂₅ with my cat Fred. he was experiencing a urinary blockage. I was away on vacation from ⁵⁄₂₂ and returned that night of ⁵⁄₂₅. my grandmother was checking on all of my animals while I was away, n didn’t notice Fred acting strange until late Monday. He was still not himself when we got back, so we took him to the closest emergency clinic. C vets is an hour from my house. When we arrived, they asked very few, but important questions and took him back immediately. I had a short description form to fill out after he had been taken back. The receptionist n vet tech were very, very nice. The vet tech/​assistant did an excellent job of keeping us updated and comfortable. Fred was experiencing a urinary blockage. they were able to get him to pass some urine, which also had a good amount of blood and a gritty substance in it. When the vet was able to look at him, she determined he needed a catheter and to be kept for a few nights. I very much agreed with this assessment. they already administered anesthesia and placed the catheter. I was then brought a quote of $ 1800.00. Firstly I do not mind paying for care, and do want the best care for my animals. However, we inquired more about Freds current state and if it would be okay to take him to our family vet first thing in the morning. As I am comfortable with my usual vet, and he is much closer if something were to happen. They said that would be fine, they did tell me his urine was still very bloody, and to be sure to take him first thing. The vet reversed the anesthesia and removed the catheter. I am still not sure why on earth they would have removed the catheter. –reason for 3 stars. This alone makes me wonder if they are in it for the money more so than the animals. I have just gotten home from my family vet, and he asked me why on earth they removed it. He went on to further say it was ignorant, and they knew he’d have to put another one in this morning. Since they removed it, Fred did not urinate all night, and basically returned to the same state he was in. So we are starting all over today. Just putting him through more pain and discomfort than necessary. If it had been left in place, he would have passed urine through the night and felt much better this morning. Not to mention it would have cut his stay at the vet down. BTW my family vet said the price wouldn’t even be half as much as they quoted me, and he is doing the same treatment.
Overall they eased his pain. Even if temporarily, I am grateful. I just wish they always had the best interest of your pet.

So grateful we took our fur baby here. We cut one of his nails too short and he wouldn’t stop bleeding. We rolled up around midnight on a Friday and everyone was so polite and professional. They took him back right away and we were in and out in 5 minutes. It was truly a pleasant experience on a scary evening.

I have never written a review in my life and usually try to see the brighter side of things, however with this place i cannot keep my mouth shut. I have been here twice, the first time they led me to believe my dog was going to die, a year later he is still in good health aside from an infection. This place overcharged me so much that even my regular vet was appalled. Not only did they over-​charge me, but they were of very little help. They took an extremely long time to see my dog who was clearly very sick, then when they did see him they ran several tests that were not necessary after the findings of the first test came back. They charged me 800 dollars for something that would have cost close to 300 on a Monday vs a sunday. After i paid an arm and a leg, I tried to get my x rays to bring my dog to the regular vet and their system was down so i wasn’t able to. Instead of being helpful and offering to get my the x rays another way (since i couldn’t go to my follow up without them) they were extremely difficult. After 800 dollars i would think they could foot the bill for a 1 dollar stamp to mail my x rays that i paid for. I will never go there again. On a side note, the reception staff were very nice.
Added note: Upon hearing that i was upset about the x-​rays, the staff did call me back to make sure that my vet got them ASAP. I still feel that they overcharged me but alot, however, it seems they are trying to help after the fact.

I highly recommend this emergency vet! Amazing!

Back again to C-​Vets at 2:00 a.m. this morning. We are a ‘frequent flier’ at C-​Vets.
Two years ago we had a number of emergency visits (outside of normal vet hours) with my first Doberman, Storm, who was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. They did absolutely everything possible for him in his last few months to keep him comfortable and free of pain, and they also put him peacefully to sleep on 8÷7÷2012. Everyone was so kind and caring, and I was so thankful to have their support on that night.
Shortly after Storm’s passing, my second Doberman, Luca, experienced GDV. His stomach bloated and flipped 180 degrees, which is 100% life threatening without surgery. When I got Luca to C-​Vets his stomach was fully bloated and hard as a football. They quickly diagnosed him and removed the air from his stomach. He had the surgery to save his life, flipping the stomach back and tacking it so it hopefully will never happen again. Luca recovered well, and again, I was so very thankful to have the absolute top medical care available to him to save his life.
As expected since the surgery, he has a very sensitive GI tract, and often experiences mild bloat. At first I brought him in every time his stomach looked the least bit bloated, and their staff were very friendly and professional at every instance. Over time, we worked with Luca’s diet and found what works with him to control the bloat for the most part. Every dog is different with bloat, and there is no true cause that vets can point to, only recommendations on what to do prevent it.
Fast forward to tonight, when he bloated much more than a mild episode. I took him right in, and right after I explained what was going on, they took him back immediately. My doberboy is patient and sweet, they removed some of the gas with a tube, took some x-​rays, and then removed more gas with a smaller tube. All with no sedation. The x-​rays confirmed that his stomach hadn’t moved (which is ALWAYS my worry even though he’s tacked). And we came home with GasX to remove the rest of the gas in his stomach. He’s now fast asleep next to me on the couch, and although it’s 4:11 a.m., I’ll stay up for a while longer to make sure he’s okay.
C-​Vets has the absolute best emergency veterinary service in Charlotte. They present estimates up front, and always allow you time to make decisions before proceeding with everything. Their vets are back and forth to you if your pet is in the back, always keeping you informed of what’s going on. They always completely explain everything, and give you plenty of time for any questions. Discharge instructions are always clear, and they call a few days later to check on your pet after every instance. They CARE. I have never had even a remotely negative experience with anyone at C-​Vets, and we have been there many times. I am thankful to know they are there for our furry family emergencies.
The only thing I wish is that they were closer to the west side of Ballantyne!

Used this vet because my cat was sick. Very sick. On a holiday, of course. Tech with needle/​track marks in his arms assessed my cat. Vet recommended my cat needed an enema. During five hours, their only treatment was to give my cat an enema. Charged me over $ 500. My cat was still very ill, and now very stinky. I took him to another vet, who requested records from this CVets, but the records/​tests were so incomplete that they were useless. Long story short, my cat ate an almond, which was obstructing his intestines. But CVets didn’t diagnose it, or treat it. I do NOT recommend anyone using CVets.

Needed to take my cat to an emergency vet at 10 PM at night. I did a quick Google search and called a couple places. Who knows where to go when the time comes. Even though «CVETS» was farther from my house than another place, their staff answered the phone and were very helpful in our time of need. The rate was comparable to other ER vets at $ 93.
Wonderful customer service:
1) Presented estimates and very patiently allowed us to make decisions before taking action. Also, presented us with multiple alternative treatment options.
2) Upon our request, the technicians were asked if they were comfortable administering injections and taking blood in the room with us and they agreed. We were used to that at our regular vet. They were so sweet and caring to our kitty.
3) Dr. Jess Hunter was knowledgeable and thorough. She took the time to explain everything, answer all our questions, as well as show us the x-​rays.
3) CVETS followed up with us a few days later to check on how our cat was doing and sent us a card in the mail. Nice to know they care and you aren’t only money to them.

We want to thank everyone at CVETS for the professional and loving care they gave our dog Gritz this past week. Not only were they there for Gritz, they were there for us when we made the difficult decision to put our baby to sleep. They even washed our towels and car mat that was dirtied by our girl on the way to the emergency room. We thank everyone involved… from the receptionists, techs, and vets and the people we did not see. We would recommend you to anyone who has an emergency with their pet.

On two separate occasions in the past couple of years, we’ve had to take a pet over to the Emergency Vet Clinic in Matthews for after-​hours emergency care. Even though the place was practically empty on both occasions, it still took a little while to actually have our pets seen. They were a little slow during the check-​in process. When we got back to an examination room, it took a little while longer still before we actually saw the Vet.
I don’t mind spending whatever is necessary for the care of my four-​legged family members… however, I did think that they were a little pricey for the service we actually received.
But, all in all, the level of care was ok, and we would go back if an emergency situation arose after hours.

Yep, again, I returned yet once again. The first time Sadie Satan attacked poor Leelou and ripped her neck open over food aggression.
The fine staff and doctors at C Vets took care of my Leelou with the gentleness of Mother Theresa — It was a horrible situation, yet they took the worry right out of my heart. And once we were ready to leave, I was so surprised at how well they manage procedure — they do not and did NOT over charge or over do care here. They did ONLY what was necessary. Wow an ER Vet not sticking it to you, amazing! You my friend now became my best.
As it goes, I had to return the other evening as I clipped for Sadie’s claw to short to the kwik — and after an hour and half of trying to get it to stop, off to the ER we went.
Again, the staff and doctors treated us with such kindness and courtesy. Sadie absolutely loved everyone there and did not put up a fuss.
In and out we were — Sadie with a beautiful little blue bandage and me with a smile because my wallet wasn’t sucker punched!
I love love love this pet er hospital — everyone there is honest and truly concerned for both you and your pet.

Like it or not, there are times when we have to take our pets to the emergency clinic. I can’t say how many there are around, but this is the one our vet suggested that we use when I called after hours.
Unlike the human emergency room — at least on this night — there wasn’t a long line to be seen by the doctor. The staff was nice, and they took us right in. Just a short form to get information about our pet.
Making the process even nicer is a satellite television in the room. They even give you the remote so you can change the channel. On the downside, you only get the choice of about ten or so channels. If they’re going to give you the choice, it would be nice to get more. But I digress.
The nurse came in pretty quickly, and was very nice, taking general information, temperature, the same sort of thing you’d expect at a human hospital, really. A few minutes later the doctor came in — the wait wasn’t bad at all. He was nice enough, if a bit condescending.
All-​in-​all, the process went quickly — up until it was time to leave. We heard them talk about someone who got a hand-​made bill, because the computers weren’t able to process the print request (none of the computers), but we weren’t one of the lucky ones. We waited at least half an hour for ours. It actually took longer waiting to be discharged than to be seen. This is actually a lot like a human hospital as well. Were it not for this, we would have been a whole lot happier.
The prices weren’t bad, but then we didn’t really need anything — just a general check-​up because it was a shock more than anything else (by the time we arrived our pet was doing fine). Another client that was there mentioned that their prices were a bit steep for surgery or other procedures. That wait was what really did in the service — other than that it would have been fine.
