Planet Honda

The experience I had here was not good. I bought my very first Honda here May 2007. I had my car here serviced for oil changes over the years but not always. When I moved to Indiana I bought a new Honda and had it serviced at different places! This past August I went to Planet Honda to give them a little business since I have not been there for a longtime such as all new tires. I though the service was really good so I decided to go get an oil here this past October. The experience the second was TERRIBLE AND TOTALLY DISRESPECTED MY CAR. When my car was finished it was not washed like they always do. There was a small gash in my door that was not there before they took it. I immediately went inside and told them the damage on my car. They came out and looked at it then another person came out. I made it very clear I know for a fact that the damage was not there. They understood but said they would contact me the next day which they did. The point is what kind of mechanics are working here? This place suppose to be a professional place! How could they do this damage and not know! Well, I believe they knew but just tried to play it off like nothing happened. Well, I spotted it right away and knew. They offered to fix it but I just don’t TRUST any of those so called highly trained mechanics. I believe that if they had to fix the damage they would do something to my car. Anyway, if you take your car here for any service than make sure you take a really good picture all around your car very close. It’s sad that you could take your car to a high school general auto class the does oil changes which they give totally respect to your car verses a so called a highly professional place that that disrespect your car. How pathetic is that. I will never take my car here again. The damage is not bad but noticeable. They are very luck I have much better things to do/​worry about because I will be calling and showing up. If any of you get damage to your car then call the police.

Recently bought 2015 Odyssey EXL from them and was very very pleased with the whole transaction.
Worked with online representative with the pricing and met them in person to finalize the deal. Our representative was Jill who is very professional and make sure we understand every aspect of vehicle before purchasing. No pushing or no scamming.
These people are very professional and know how to treat customer.
I would highly recommend this place and ask for Jill. :)

Never had a problem, got my old Honda serviced here quite a few times mostly when I worked in Matteson. Here is my one problem with them though, they mispelled my last name with an A instead of an E (not a big deal).
But I have been getting a TON of car warranty notices, car loan offers, etc etc WITH this mispelled last name. So, it is pretty easy to pinpoint who exactly released my information.
When I purchased a car at many dealers, they had a privacy policy I signed. Although I did not actually sign one for service, or buy a car here, it is still quite unprofessional/​annoying that they released my info.
I cannot find a privacy policy on their site either.
I cannot really comment on anything else — service was always quick and easy, so the three stars comes from that.

I’m coming out of my almost four-​year Unilocal hiatus to write this review.
Unless you want to do business with a company that neglects to inform you about something as important as TWO DIFFERENT AUTO LOANS UNDER YOUR NAME, then avoid Planet Honda at all costs. It doesn’t matter if you plan to finance with them (I didn’t) — they operate under unscrupulous business practices and clearly don’t care about putting their customers in financial jeopardy.
It takes a lot for me to write a review this scathing. I consider myself to be a reasonable customer; I received my Masters Degree in Business and can understand the perspective of someone trying to run a company. Yet, I could not in good conscience allow fellow Unilocalers and other unassuming consumers to continue to believe that Planet Honda deserves three stars.

1) My initial experience with Planet Honda was positive. It seemed like a nicely maintained dealership. Kevin in Sales and Mike in Finance were not pushy at all and I believed that we came to a fair agreement on a car. Had my experience ended on that note, I would’ve been happy to grant Planet Honda a five star review.
2) When I purchased the car, I signed a financing agreement with Planet Honda but Mike assured me that if I found a better rate and wanted to finance elsewhere (e.g. my personal bank), that it wouldn’t be an issue. I would simply need to have the other institution write a check for Planet Honda and assume the loan responsibilities with the bank. I asked how soon I would need to get the check to them; he recommended before the end of the month (i.e., a week) to avoid complications.
3) I went ahead and financed with my personal bank because they offered me a better rate. I ensured that the check was sent to Planet Honda within Mike’s recommended timeframe. I received a voicemail from Mike the day the check was received (Monday), confirming that the dealership received it but that there was one other thing I needed to do.
4) I returned Mike’s call everyday since Monday and left a voicemail for him each time. I even suggested that he leave a voicemail or email for me if that was easier. I never received a response.
5) Finally, I called my banker to see if he knew anything about the situation. By some fluke, he was able to reach Mike, who informed my banker that I would need to call Planet Honda’s bank to cancel my loan. Fine. Not sure why Mike couldn’t simply relay that message to me after attempting to contact him for three days straight. Had my banker not been able to reach Mike, I still would have no idea up to this day that this was my current situation and the action step I needed to take.
6) I called the dealership’s bank to attempt to cancel the loan. They informed me that since Planet Honda had now been paid twice — once from my bank and once from Planet Honda’s bank — that they would need to be the ones to cancel the loan and pay off the amount.
7) I attempted to call Planet Honda several times after that. I even left a voicemail for Kevin (the salesperson who sold me the car) to try to get an answer. Finally, I called Planet Honda’s operator and explained that I needed to speak to a human being and could no longer be transferred to a voicemail machine. She told me that the best she could do was to let her manager know and that hopefully he would call back. Wait, what? You can’t guarantee that your manager will call back an irate customer who has been attempting to talk to somebody — ANYBODY — for a week?
8) I waited 3.5 hours for a callback from the manager before posting this review. I have now called a total of ten times in the span of five days, mostly while at work and now on a Saturday. If the dealership were closer, I would’ve visited them a long time ago but they are inconveniently far from where I live.

My life has been put on hold because Planet Honda refuses to acknowledge my existence. This leads me to believe that they are simply ignoring me in order to force me to cancel my personal bank’s loan and finance through them instead, which is the exact opposite of what Mike insisted wouldn’t be an issue when I first raised the question. It also leads me to believe that Planet Honda is incredibly shady: they’ve been paid twice for this vehicle I purchased from them and won’t take the simple step to resolve all of this by cancelling the loan with their bank.
Planet Honda should be ashamed of itself for screwing with people’s livelihoods. These are the decisions that everyday people need to stress over and get right because of the long-​term implications the outcomes have on their lives.
Shortly after purchasing my car from Planet Honda, I already had a friend of mine asking me for car shopping recommendations, as she intends to purchase soon. I will certainly be steering her, and everyone else, far, FAR away from Planet Honda.

Shortly after posting about my oil change experience, I received a couple of texts from this dealer asking me to call. Seems that they monitor Unilocal and don’t really appreciate negative reviews. After relating my experience to them they asked me to please come back and let them make it right with a free car wash inside and out. I never actually got around to doing this, it’s kind of a long way to go for a car wash, and I was still a little put off by the oil change experience.
In the meantime, my wife went to Honda of Joliet for a routine oil change and was treated like royalty. They washed the car beautifully and cleaned the interior… all without being asked. While she was working at one of their computer stations they even asked her if she needed more space! Such a contrast to Planet Honda of Matteson… reclining chairs, fresh coffee, and the friendliest staff around. They told my wife she wouldn’t recognize her car when she saw it and she damn near didn’t!
Sorry Planet Honda, but we will be using Honda of Joliet for our service needs in the future and this will also be our first stop when we are ready to purchase our next vehicle.

First off, I went to this dealer not expecting to purchase. I had the Honda Fit in mind, and just wanted to get some numbers. The salesman Jorge was very professional. And I ended up purchasing my new car here! Even after the whole selling process was over, he spent his time showing me all of the features in my new car. He was extremely helpful and was an excellent salesman. The manager and the finance dept were also excellent. I highly recommend this dealer!

I have gotten my Honda serviced here twice and the service area does a good job. As far as sales is concerned, I did look at cars when the lease was up on my Civic and the sales guy was just insufferable. The total cliché of a car salesman with the hemming and hawing on the price and the desire to upsell. It was actually comical. The part that was not comical was when he kept calling me, even though I’d told him that I primarily do business with a great, no-​haggle dealership in Colorado. Needless to say, I went back to CO to get my latest car and will probably do the same when this lease is up. They have a nice place and the people who aren’t in sales are pretty cool but… I don’t know. I will say that I turned my leased Civic over to them at the end of my term and they treated me well and were (I’m sure) thrilled to have a car with 15K miles on it after three years of use!

I had to schedule a recall service appointment and I had the nicest woman (Cecilia) take care of me and get my appt. scheduled. When I went in, they treated me well and got me in and out quickly.

Bargained my Honda Accord down quite a bit. Took me walking out an hour after they officially closed to ask me back in an accept my offer.
Been going back for service regularly. Not very satisfied. I have found cigarette butts and boxes left in my car, dirty carpets from shoes. And I am not always offered a free car wash.
They are not always up front with you regarding how much things cost during check ups and repairs.

My parents bought their CVR here about a year ago. After a car accident, they returned to buy another car (V6 Accord) and I went with them on this trip. They dealt with a salesman named John this time and the previous time. My Dad was so impressed with John that he actually wrote a letter to the company. Now, to impress my dad is one thing — but for him to write a letter is another. This guy really knows his stuff and is not the typical BS car salesman.
My Dad brought in a quote from another dealership — about $ 2500 less than the sticker price… and they honored it. All in all it was a pretty painless, quick experience. If I have to buy a car in the future, I would feel comfortable going back to John for my car.

I spent two afternoons and drove 120 miles on four trips to haggle with these guys. They kept calling with unbelievable offers, then changing the numbers after I drove out from Chicago.
As much as I love Hondas, I detest this dealership.
