I recently visited Kenny’s Ribs and Chicken with a friend of mine. We both ordered turkey tips for our meal. The employee at the register was helpful and friendly. What we saw while waiting for our food disturbed my friend and I both. An employee behind the counter was preparing what appeared to be turkey or beef patties. The patties appeared to be frozen. He handled the meat with his bare hands. He was wiping his face, nose and apron while he was seasoning the food. He placed the meet directly into the grill area where it would be cooked. After we received our turkey tips, we stayed and ate in the restaurant. Although the food had good flavor, it was difficult to enjoy it due to the unkept nature of the restaurant. The tables did not appear to be clean, lights were out, and the floor and garbage dumpster were very dirty. Unfortunately, I will not be able to eat there again.

What can I say about this Kenny’s location? I went here for the first time and ordered a mini tip/link combo. The combo was $ 12.09 including tax. The hot links and mild sauce were good… Now as for the rest… The rib tips had a lot of fat on them, and I mean A LOT. They may have been good if it wasn’t for so much fat. The bread didn’t taste fresh. And there wasn’t even a handful of fries in my mini tip/link combo. For $ 12.09, I expected I would get more fries. I waited over 20 minutes for my food, which I guess is pretty standard if you don’t call ahead. The inside of the restaurant could use an overhaul, it’s kind of dingy looking. But yeah, the hot links and sauce were good so…2 stars lol. Maybe 2.5 stars, but there are no half stars, and I wouldn’t give them 3 stars. Overall, I would go to a different Kenny’s location over this one.

Loved the food. The service could use some cheerful people but, the Pit Master knows his business

I have lived in Matteson for 11 years and this is my first and last time at Kenny’s. I decided to place an order after a friend said Kenny’s serves turkey tips. I ordered 1 slab of ribs, 24 wings and large turkey tips(I wanted to try the jerk turkey tips but they were out). I arrived at Sunday dinner and noticed the ribs were missing! I had to go back to Kenny’s to pick up(my mother’s) missing ribs. I spent $ 85 and the food was edible but not good at all. The coleslaw was salty, the wings were not seasoned, the ribs were tough and the turkey tips were tough and full of bones(I have never had bones in turkey tips). Needless to say this was not a good first impression. I should have turned around when I walked in the door(empty and dingy).

I ordered the all white jerk meal with cabbage and red beans and rice. It wasn’t good at all. I don’t know how you can mess up cabbage or red beans and rice but it was done not authentic at all! The cabbage lacked flavor and had things like corn, peas, carrots and green beans in it. That is not how I’ve ever had it made. The red beans and rice was mushy and tasted as if it came from a box. The jerk sauce was disgusting all the way around and they had the nerve to charge $.65 for it. The chicken was alright but it lack the smokiness you normally get with jerk chicken. Also, it does not fall of the bone like I’m use to. AND the customer service lacked warmth I had the feeling as if I was bothering the lady to place my order! Needless to say I’ll NEVER dine here again!!!

Food is always good. Prices are ridiculous. Every cashier has an attitude. The guy on the grille with the nice eyes is cool. The owner never smiles nor greets. The 3 stars is for the food only. Service needs to improve. I believe in black establishments but they always always always lack professionalism.

Has it really been 2 decades since I last had Kenny’s rib tips. I remember as a kid visiting my aunt and uncle in South Holland. They would order us Kenny’s Ribs all the time. Growing up I thought it was the coolest thing in the world to get 2 slices of bread with your meal. Well today ends the couple of decade bbq draught. Driving back from South Chicago Heights trying to catch the I-57 is when I noticed their sign. I felt like a winnner today since I caught their«Thursday Special» Mini Tips and 1 Hot Link with Fries… only $ 5.99. Everything tasted the same and the BBQ sauce reminded me of all those summers spent and the aunt and uncle’s house as a kid in the 80’s. Today was a good day.

The ribs are good, I can’t lie, but they always seem to give you a side of fries with no sauce and the ribs could stand a lil more sauce also. If you like sauce, this place will piss you off! And if you tell them to put plenty of sauce on the ribs or fries, they will try and charge you more for it… just to get saucy ribs??? Other than that the ribs are tasty…

Kenny’s ribs and chicken, and that’s it, they have side’s or should I say a side Cole Slaw well they do have fries too. My friend had the pop corn chicken I had to have a taste it was the best pop corn chicken I had ever had!!! I got some fried Catfish and a half slab! The Catfish was Really good there wasn’t to much breading just the right amount and the Caribenan Jerk sauce was pretty good a little thin but still very good. The Ribs seemed a little dry and the sauce tasted tangy I used the left over sauce for my fries! Overall the food was really good and the service was ok. They also do Catering I don’t know if this is a joint business with Dusties southern style buffet?
