Yes, they have improved operations and customer service over the 15 years I have been coming here. Solidly yummy oxtail, rice and peas and beef and chicken patties. I love the fact that their sign says patties and ice cream and that the only reason I ever find this place is due to the crazy sign next door for Ta Bo Chinese food. Cool area of Blue Hill Ave. They are usually open till 1am. Great for the drive by snack before the commute back to Providence!

IVe been going here for years but their guest service has went completely down! I ordered two beef patties with cocoa bread and jamaican cheese. The cook made my order wrong due to wrong direction by the cashier. Who never is welcoming and always seems to have a horrible attitude. Then instead of her saying sorry no one let me know my food was coming. I asked about it and another cook raised his finger, which is a horrible gesture to a paying customer. I love their food but I dont think ill be back.

The food is great, their attitudes are not. Often unhelpful in answering questions and take FOREVER to fill orders. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since this is common ‘customer service’ in Jamaica. However, we’re not in Jamaica. It’s not tastee pattie or juicy beef but it’s good.

I can’t really judge the food because I’ve never eaten any meals from there; it’s just a little sketchy to me that they have to go in the back to get it prepared when everyone else does it in front of you but that’s just me. I usually go there for the Bun and cheese and for the patty, coco bread and cheese but I stopped getting the patty, coco bread and cheese because the coco bread is always stale. P&R has been around for a while so I guess they’re doing something good.

I’ve eaten here like three days in a row! The food is delicious! When you walk in you have to go to the cashier to order what you want. It definitely is not a dine in type restaurant but whenever I’m in the mood for oxtail its my first stop. My only thing I don’t like is that you cannot get just a side order of oxtail, you have to order the meal. Come on son. Anyways definitely still 5 stars!

It was late. And we wanted ice cream. Kami F was like hey wanna get ice cream? I was like yeah… but where the hell is open at midnight? She says, P&R. So we went… The outside does look mad sketchy but damn. The strawberry cheesecake ice cream is the effing bomb. Get it. The food looked and smelled good, but we just went there for ice cream. It was mad packed on a Saturday night, but hey if this spot has the best patties with coco bread and cheese then that’s wassup. We both bought quarts of strawberry cheesecake ice cream and we left happy. Now I now where to hit up if I have ice cream/Jamaican food cravings. Ya mon…:)

Our coach had a hankering for beef patties and brought us here after a cross country meet. It ended up being pretty nice overall. It’s not the first time I’ve ever had a beef patty for goodness sakes, but it was the first time I had one filled with curry chicken. Delish! There are other things too like plate lunches and of course the infamous ice cream but it’s the patties that steal the show I think. It was also my first trip into Mattapan. While I should have been scared perhaps, I was too busy basking in Jamaican patty glory to give a hoot.

Best patty in Boston. Make sure you get the bum and Jamaican cheese for dessert too. And yes you want it warmed up. Fire!

Have never had their ice cream although I’m sure it’s good. I’ve had their beef patties and cocoa bread though. They’re not bad but I think they are just average. Not much to really say honestly lol

P&R is a hood favorite. The BEST place in the hood to get a patty with cocoa bread and jamaican cheese. Yum! They have ice cream too!

After church on day i had a strange craving for Jamaican food… im not particularly a huge fan but today! i wanted some… a friend and i randomly chose this place. As soon as we walk in was see platters of foods… having no idea what anything was, we look for an employee… with no one at the front counter i begin to say aloud HELLOOOOO.5 mins later this guy walks out and says«wha ya want gal?» I ask him to tell me what they have displayed. this guy says to me. «im not answering you until you remove your sunglasses» now im taken back by this statment… not really thinking he was serious. i asked this greasy man, what my sunglasses had to do with him providing customer service. He then repeats himself seriously refusing service. I tell him ok i will go to another Jamaican place because there are millions on blue hill ave and i am sure they are bit more inviting. I walked out and went to Irie’s on bowdin street… need less to say. this same man came out of the store as we were getting into the car… walks up to the window and gives me a note with his name and number on it!!! whattttt… this place is atrocious and its not worth it… you would think they would have been a bit more hospitable since Jamaicans claim to be so nice and inviting… apparently only in Jamaica they are… in the tourist populated parts that is lol… never again! but i will say try Irie’s on Bowdin street or Taste of Edens on norfolk st by Talbot ave.

I went here around 10pm the other day because i was cravingggg for some Jamaican Beef Pattie with Coco Bread and Cheese. Once i crave for something, i WILL go and get it. So .i went there with my best friend and the place looked a bit sketchy. I didnt like how it looks like from the outside and the lighting inside was pretty dimmed. But hey, it was an ice cream shop that opened til late on blue hill, so cant really expect much. Any-who, we got there, and i ordered 2 beef patties with coco bread & cheese(for 6.25) from the lady behind the glass window. She was a bit rude. she didnt say much, even after i said thank you and all that stuff, she just ignored me. But watever. The guy who worked behind the counter was nice though. He actually replied when i said«Thanks and have a good night».its just common courtesy especially if you want customers to return to your store. Overall.ive never tried the ice cream there, but the beef pattie was delicious! Just dont go there expecting it to look like friendlys or any of the other ice cream shops in town.

The workers here are extremely slow and get easily mixed up but all of that goes out the window as I inhale their beef patties with JAMAICANCHEESE! why cant our beef patties in NYC be as heavenly? I ate two patties as we left the store and was licking my fingers by the time we arrived to our destination(10 mins) lol.

Nancy Z above me said that Mattapan is «One of the most ghetto and creepy neighborhoods,» that is str8 up #FALSE The only thing she was right about was «THEBESTJAMAICANPATTYHANDSDOWN!» its the cocobread that’s so gosh darn it good plus the ice is the best in the surrounding neighborhoods what makes this spot even better! THEBESTQUALITYTOIT! they are like almost open until 2am like from W-Sun

One of the most ghetto and creepy neighborhoods, but THEBESTJAMAICANPATTYHANDSDOWN! Customer: Someone’s holding up the store!!! *gun shot fires* Me: Hold on, let me get some coco bread and cheese on that one. Some advice though: There’s no A/C in the summer there, so be prepared. They’re Jamaican, they know how to handle that heat. Also, I’ve never tried the ice cream. Yes… I never tried the ice cream at P & R Ice Cream. Also, your bathroom will hate you after, but your taste buds will be friggin ecstatic. P & R Ice Cream, woop woop!
