Was looking for Chinese Takeout for family New Years Eve. Ordered Veggie chow mien, chicken wings and fingers, general chicken, chicken and veggie fried rice and fried shrimp. Place was crazy busy being NYE but they were holding it down. I ordered my food takeout and it smelled amazing but even better everything we had was absolutely fantastic and fresh, even the veggies cookied to perfection if you want the best chinese takeout you will definitely be in the right place at chinatown express highly recommend !

Me gusta este restaurante chino. La porción es buena y el precio, barato. Especialmente, me encantan el arroz frito y las alas de pollo fritos. Riquísimas. Lo recomiendo a mis amigos.

I have been going here for over 20 years. Today is the second time the cashier took my money, then left and fixed my food. I observed her using her hand to put the bread in my bag. I threw it away before I left the restaurant. This happened a few years ago and I said something. This time, I decided that I am not going back. She didn’t even wash her hands after answering the phone and working the cash register. Too bad, because I like the place for fast food.

The food isn’t bad, but hey I am paying for takeout c’mon people the bar has to be set somewhere. A takeout meal for two should’t cost $ 35 and I am not going to count every piece of chicken, maybe 6 and some shrimp fried rice with crab rangoon. IF the extra bread and sauces are driving up the price please ask me first if I want a bunch of extra things I didn’t ask for.

Nasty food mean owner and too cold to eat inside the restaurant. I have been going for over 10 year but after getting a platr like this never again. the owner took food back from a consumers and reused it for someone else. nasty ass place

This place is the best«round the way» Chinese food. It can be a tad bit greasy but it’s always fresh and super flavorful you can tell its made to order. They would get four stars if they had decent customer service. The lady at the front is rude and I walked out because she wouldn’t budge on a substitution. I know maybe a but petty on my part but I want what I want and the customer is always right especially in the food industry. You rather lose a customer than make a substitution?

The Chinese food around Boston. Their rice is great! The chicken has a great flavor not like the others way better and boneless wings are wicked good.

I was tired and decided to try someplace closer than my normal Chinese spot. Wrong move! Expensive and the food wasn’t good. Many have raved about the crab rangoon, but they were nasty. The egg foo yung also lacked taste. Only going to stick with Lucky Boston Chinese.

This is going to be my favorite chinese spot now, I was looking for a side dish to go with my chicken wings, the veggie lo-mein was tasty,(greasy too). I sent my teenaged daughter in to order, she came out with good reviews. The cashier man was very nice and patient, as she stuttered out the order. They even put all the condiments in the bag, hot mustard, sweet sauce, soy sauce, cookies ANDBREAD! Wow. I will be back

I accidently stumbled upon reviews of this place while just randomly going through restaurant reviews for the Dorchester area. The hubby and I frequented Chau Chow on Morrissey Blvd., but after reading the reviews of Chinatown Express, we were tempted to try this place and see if it was better. Apparently, the two of us can eat, or our eyes are bigger than our stomachs… maybe a little of both. We ordered crab rangoons, which were very nice with a hint of sweetness, and peking raviolis, also very tasty, better tasting than many I’ve had. The chicken wings? Very robust compared to other chicken wings that I’ve tried at other Chinese take out restaurants and boy were these good! Add to that some house fried rice, which was very nice with seemingly everything in it(little shrimp, pork, etc…) and Four Happiness, with beef, shrimp, chicken and roast pork, so certainly no shortage of meat. Not my favorite dish(I found the shrimp and pork’s taste not to my liking) but I imagine one could do worse. Pretty good value, and on top of that, they gave us about eight slices of some baguette like soft bread which we made French Toast with this morning for breakfast. Nice bonus! And they sure didn’t skimp on the fortune cookies(we got about 8 — we must’ve ordered so much they thought we were having guests over or something). They also didn’t skimp on the dipping sauces. Finally, their prices are pretty reasonable. Chinese take out can be pretty salty, but I have to admit, I was still a bit taken aback by the sodium overload the first time I tried this place and was hesitant to try it again. The hubby however, convinced me to go back(okay, and ordering those stellar robust chicken wings sweetened the deal, too). The other reviews here swore by it. Going back again, I expected to have to swig a tall glass of water immediately after finishing to balance out my equilibrium. Perhaps it’s because we didn’t order as much the second time or I was just expecting it to be worse due to my initial experience with them, but it wasn’t as bad I remember it. We tried something different also — their curry beef. Ok… it was tasty. I will definitely give them that — everything I have had here has been very tasty. I’m coming around, and this most likely is going to turn out to be our go-to place for Chinese take-out. So I’ll bump it up to four stars from my previous three. Now…the last time I went here to pick the food up, another customer and I were chatting a bit, and he mentioned the egg rolls were the best he had ever had. Considering everything I’ve had here so far has been really good, and I don’t like egg rolls… if I order and egg roll, try it, and really like it, then these guys are going to be bumped up to five stars. So update…1/24/14. I finally tried one of their eggrolls. They’re big and battered and beautiful. Dipped them in duck sauce, was completely magical and when I ate the whole thing I was immediately sorry I didn’t order more of them. So, as I promised, they are now up to five stars. As an additional note, just an fyi that they do not deliver.

The food here is amazing! Everything is made to order, fresh, and very clean. I’m very picky with Chinese food but this place keeps it clean and not oily at all. Highly recommended

Really good American-Chinese food, at very reasonable prices. All day specials can’t be beat, the noodles, crab rangoons, and spring rolls are all quite tasty. Copious amounts of food helps too. They lose one star as their General Gao’s isn’t quite as spicy as we prefer, but nice and crisp with broccoli that’s not overcooked. A great find.

I have been going here for about six years; since I moved to the area. I am very funny about Chinese food; I will travel for quality and normally travel to Braintree for my Chinese food(Braintree Jade); but for the inner city(Matapan/Lower Mills) this is where I go. Their food is good; I agree with Rosaly about the spring rolls and the peking ravioli. I tend to mostly order their egg foo yong and chicken fingers but have tried other things on the menu and have been satisfied.

It took me well over 6 months after I moved from my old hood to find a Chinese take out place whose food I love to eat. This gem in the rough is a small place with only a few seats available so I would suggest you take your food to the comfort of your home to fully enjoy it. You get to see their very clean kitchen behind the partition and that always eases my mind to know that they run a clean shop. I am so happy to have noticed this place on my way home, no more tasteless, below average Chinese food for me. I want to know what their secret ingredient on their spring rolls is. OMG they are the best ones I’ve ever had. Every time I take a bite I savor the flavor and wonder what it is that makes it taste so great. I always look forward to the next time. So far everything I’ve bought I’ve been very happy with. Even their Peking ravioli which some places botch up so bad you never try them again are delicious don’t be shy and pour some of that sauce they give you for it. Their Shrimp Chow Mein and Lo Mein are a delight. Short of eating Chinese food in Chinatown this is my top pick for great Chinese food in my neighborhood. With consistent good food they have yet to disappoint.

Delicious. Cheap. Fast. Everything you could possibly want in Chinese Take-Out. AWESOME Crab Rangoons! I definitely recommend the house fried rice(it’s the best I’ve found). I wouldn’t order the lo-mein unless you’re REALLY craving it– it’s not the most flavorful, but certainly not bad. I agree with Amanda, there can be a language barrier, but they definitely work through it and are the kind of place that truly believes that the customer is always right. The only slightly miffy thing(other than that they’re not 24 hours ;) is if you put less than $ 10 on a credit card they charge $.50

Fan-freaking-tastic. So deliciously wonderful. If you’re looking for quality Chinese food that really satisfies those tough cravings, this is your stuff. Their chicken fried rice is excellent, their crab rangoons crunchy and sweet, and their duck sauce is the best I have ever tasted, hands down. They are always friendly and awesome, and the few times we’ve had a language barrier issue, they’ve been very patient and kind to us. It’s savory and sweet and spicy and tangy, tasty goodness. They obviously know what they’re doing here. Best yet, their portions are ginormous. We always order things in our hurried, hungry excitement and then end up with entirely too much food, eating it for the next two days. It’s fantastic and awesome(and reheats well — I swear). Enjoy your greasy goodness!
