Our business specializes in making unique, high quality hero sandwiches. We serve our sandwiches on fresh bread delivered daily and pride ourselves on our high quality and customer service. We use top quality ingredients such as Boar’s Head cold cuts, Hellmann’s mayonaisse and make all of our salads, soups, and special sauces from scratch.

History

Established in 1991.

T.J.‘s Hero Shop opened on January 22, 1991. Since then, T.J. and his brother Mike, who currently owns T.J.‘s, have created a «formula» that has made the business a success .T.J. and Mike started working in the business at an early age with their Uncle Frank at a well-​known hero shop in West Islip. Today, T.J., Mike, their sister Laura, and friend Lance own and operate a total of three T.J. Hero Shops (Mastic Beach, Patchogue, and Middle Island).

The heros are great but sometimes heros are weak in density, The service is quick and on point of correctness. The breakfast wraps are my favorite and filling. The macaroni salad very good. I m happy they opened up new location with abundance parking because many times I’ve changed my mind to another location due to poor parking. Overall you’ll be pleased with TJ’s

I’ve always loved TJ’s but the biggest turn off has always been the terrible parking and oddly short hours (weekends). Their new location down the road is ten times better! Parking is abundant and there are 2 entrances. The food of course is still great but they still have odd hours on the weekends.

This place has really gone down hill… Not that hero haven is any better but this used to be one of my favorite hero spots since I was in high school. I guess after 10 years they just can’t keep up with the quality of their food. I will try them again once they move into their new location unless they drive up the prices anymore then they have.

You know, I always liked my patchogue location a little better, probably because this is mastic and well, I’m a judgmental prick sometimes. But the convenience here when on the way to the beach is great, I just find them to be a bit slower… What I will say, is this spot gets your order right and doesn’t mess up nearly as much as patchogue. Patchogue has been raising the price every year while somehow making me still feel hungry after I eat the hero. Mastic… I’ve never actually felt that way. I’m Gnna go back next season, actually, I hate that beach, I’ll go back next time I think of it and really put this review to the test.

BEST heros you’ll get at an awesome price. So glad there’s a TJ’s 2 it’s closer to where I live. All the food is fresh with an enormous variety. If They don’t have it on the menue they’ll make it! The staff is always friendly, both locations are clean… You get more than what you pay for!

I moved to Shirley 3 years ago and this June was my first time in TJ’s. What on earth was I thinking!!! The staff was great and the sandwiches are to die for. They also offer a buy one get one half price! That’s great if your low on cash and with a friend like I was. The lady in charge was very kind and explained to me about TJ’s and that Mastic was the first of 3. If they end up being a chain I would understand but for now it’s my sandwich getaway when the mood strikes!

Simply the best hero shop on the planet. It’s pricey for a family of 5, but nobody is ever disappointed.
I like the Italian with the works and my wife and kids love the Reuben’s.
I would say 5 full heroes cost us about $ 50.
You can get half get or too. I don’t usually give 5 stars but they deserve it. Call ahead and to save time.

So I’m sitting here finishing my delicious chicken club, and there to the right of me is a sign rate us on Unilocal.Behind that sign is please don’t use cell phones. So I figure the please rate us sign over rules the cell phone sign, here I go.
This place is one of my go too hero shops. I have hit delis and sandwich places from Manhattan to Montauk this is a really good one. I like the Philly cheese in addition to the turkey club
The staff is nice, and even when they are busy the line moves quick.

1st time going there this week. I had a plumbing job to do out that way. The home owner was raving about them so I was hungry & decided to try them on the way back home (60 miles or so). The sandwich was really, really good. I had a chopped cheeseburger on a hero lettuce, mayo, ketchup. One of the best I ever had. I would have gave them 5 stars but the atmosphere was kinda stale. It didn’t feel so inviting & I was warned people around that area don’t take well to people who like me. Oh well I enjoy the sandwich & I would go again.

This place has awesome Heros. There is also a great selection. I love the Louisiana lightning. There is something about that stealth sauce that makes it taste so good! My all time favorite was the «rodeo» but they did away with it for some strange reason :-/​. The ice tea is out of this world and taste great. So refreshing as well. The worst part of tj’s is the prices. Just a tad above the usual sub prices. Definitely go to this place it’s great!
