Not helpful Doctor and incompetent staff. I had shoulder surgery out of state. My wife called 1 week in advance of the appointment. She explained that I had shoulder surgery out of state, discussed medical insurance and asked if they could provide physical therapy to me. Yes, no problem. I had asked to be on the wait list for an earlier appointment. They called when slot became available for a night appointment. I asked again, «any problems with insurance or anything? No problem. The insurance company has approved you. I go in for treatment, and as I start filling out the forms. Dr. Sicignano approaches me and says he can’t treat me. Since I had surgery out of state and have never been seen by a NY Surgeon he can’t treat me. I told him that we had explained this to his staff before making the appointment and they said no problem. I just felt that I had wasted a week waiting for this appointment. I thought, I guess NY residents can never leave the state. If they had an accident that required surgery they could not return to NY until after they were 100% healed. They couldn’t have skiing accidents, train, plane or automobile accidents. He continued to say that he thought that it was unethical for a Surgeon in another state to perform surgery on a patient that would soon be leaving that state. He offered no advice on how to resolve this issue. He didn’t even offer to look into it and get back with me. He refused to treat me. The next day I called advanced Physical Therapy on Merrick road and they saw me the same day.
