KRIB radio got it’s start in the late 1950s when the music scene was waking up to rock and roll. The station struggled to complete with the dominance of good old KGLO (on the air since 1938). But, this was good news for northern Iowa youth in the 1950s and 60s when KRIB played the latest rock and roll hits and their DJs effectively served as our MTV (except for Dick Clark’s American Bandstand show on Channel 6 of course). Anyway, enough of the past… today KRIB is still your best bet for hearing a mix of classic oldies and rock and roll. Now, if they’d just revive some of those remote broadcasts… maybe from the old studio over the Barrel Drive-​In in Clear Lake… that would be something.
