AJ’s Sandwiches

This place was recommended to me by a shop owner as I was shopping in town. She was right! Very nice place lots of food for the price and it is good! Happy I took her word and tried someplace new.

Every sandwich, burger and salad I’ve had here has been a generous portion and delicious! Definitely a great place for a lunch or dinner!

2 for 2 so far! In town for work and really looking forward to lunch at AJ’s everyday. Yesterday was The Uppercut sandwich and The Black Door sandwich today. The sandwiches are huge and ingredients are really fresh. If you check in on Unilocal you get a free fountain drink. What a grrat deal!

This is the kind of place with so many enticing sandwiches on the menu that it’s hard to pick one. They have a lot of sandwiches that aren’t you’re average run of the mill which makes it a great change of pace. The Dirty Deed was great, but the only area they could improve on is all the flies buzzing around trying to steal a bite of my sandwich! I’ll be back though no doubt.

We ordered «the leek», the «sweetness» and the pear salad, along with 2 orders of frips.
My eyes were bigger than my stomach, so we didn’t end up eating salad. I guess I have lunch for tomorrow.
The sweetness — We had it on Dutch crunch bread, which is so yummy. Best Dutch crunch bread I’ve had in 5 years. The sandwich is very good. The havarti cheese is a good choice. The chicken is moist and well seasoned. It is very sweet, so if you are not a big fan of the sweet/​savory I would skip it.
The leek — This we had on sourdough. It was also very good, the right amount of chewy without making it hard to eat. It comes with sunny side up eggs, which I asked to be done over medium because I don’t like uncooked whites. The eggs ended up waaay overcooked and tasting a bit like sulfer. The pastrami was also a bit to overcooked for my taste.
The frips — Neither my husband or I are a fan of the potatoes. Close to half of mine were either overcooked (burnt) or slightly under done. They also have a lot of pepper. I ate maybe ¹⁄₃ and my husband less than 5.
They have quite a wide variety of unique sodas.
Bottom line — I would definitely go back, but will stick to the chicken sandwiches.

My co-​workers and I can not get enough of this place. The Dirty Deed, as is, is THE BEST SANDWICH on this planet.

wow amazing I’m a sandwich guy and I had some good sandwich. I always make it a point to get a sandwich where ever I visit. if you are in town or driving by Marysville stop and get a sand. you won’t regret it.

So me and my husband went to AJ’s today. Did what we did last time and got «The Godfather» and «The Dirty Deed». We get our sandwiches and he takes half of mine and I take half of his. We each have a hunk of each sandwich. We dig in. We make a little eye contact. But most of the time our eyes were on our sandwiches. We took gasping breaths in between our bites of decadency. He said one sentence to me whilst the lettuce and cheese was streaming down his face. «I know what we are going to talk about for the next three hours» And he was wrong. He should have said 24 hours.
We decided. These sandwiches could make meth irrelevant. Also heroine. We could give sandwiches to people who use. They would no longer use money on said drugs, and use money on sandwiches instead.
My husband, for the first time in our lives, is a strong believer in Christ.
I offered him a hot dog for dinner, some 7 hours after eating these spectacular sandwiches. And he said no, he doesn’t want a glorious AJ’s sandwich in his stomach at the same time it is shared with a hot dog, a hot dog is unworthy. I decided to go against his beliefs, and I ate the hot dog. I am now awaiting the fiery depths of hell because of it. I contemplated vomiting the hot dog, but I can’t do it without risking a little bit of The Godfather I ate earlier coming back up. So I can’t. I have to keep the hot dog down. I will meet the devil on my end days. My only regret is the hot dog.

So happy that I found this place. Great sandwiches being made here! The guys here know what they’re doing. Can’t wait to try all of their sandwiches

Stopped by on our way to Oroville and was very pleased. I picked up the Ex-​Lover and it was just the right amount of spicy meaty goodness. When we’re in the area again, will definitely stop by to try their other selections!

I have fallen in love with the «godfather» roasted potatoes and pesto with warm turkey on the crispy crust yet fluffy soft on the inside buttery french roll,
tomato and cheese melting all over. .. it. is truly amazing how they cram so much goodness into these sandwiches ! Not your average deli. The back area is nice with tv. Beer too!

After reading some of the comments and a few high praises from my son I thought this would be a good local place to eat. Not as busy as I read but the associates were nice and helpful… I chose the Mr. Spicy as I like a kick in my meals…
I can now say that the sandwich was pretty good especially with the garlic-​chipotle-​mayo sauce… the bread had a great crunch. Overall I would come back again…

Was in town after I got a call my dad was in the Hospital in town. After hanging out there for hours we decided to go get some food and my Unilocaler friends had said this was a good place and so we drove over. The choices were vast and the hot and cold sandwich options they had pleased everyone in our group. I got the eggplant sandwich which was fabulous and big enough that I had ½ then and the other ½ for lunch the next day. you can custom make sandwiches or chose one of their creations. Prices are good and the staff is friendly I will definitely know where to stop if I come through here again. Oh I didn’t bring my phone in and missed out on the free drink check in offer so don’t be like me check in and use it!

Absolutely great food. My husband and I came here for a late lunch. The employees walked us through the menu. The food was great and the portions are huge
I couldn’t even eat half of the sandwich that I ordered. Will most definitely be coming back to this place.

Awesome service. Ordered through the help app. Good was being made within the 5 minutes I completed my order. They even checked in with me on my good. That’s a key point for most places that is lost. Will return for sure. Got the half cheese burger and pesto chips. Quality

Muuuuuuuch, much better than Mr. Pickles.
The garlic chipotle mayo is fantastic and the ingredients have always been fresh on every sandwich i’ve had. Service has always been great, the same girl is usually there and she straight up rocks at her job.
Price point is about what you’d expect from any deli and they have some awesome unique sandwiches there. Seating is pretty limited inside but they have decent parking and seating outside!
Overall probably the best sandwich place in the Yuba-​Sutter area.

Very happy that Unilocal led me here. Excellent bread and meats which makes a solid foundation for a tasty sandwich or burger. The menu is creative with some fun recipes for adventurous people. I had the Bur-​Strami which is a burger with pastrami as a hot sub. It was excellent on the Dutch bread.
I’m back the same day to take home 4 subs for the family. I have ordered the big Mike Special, but would have tried the The Leak with pastrami and sunny side up eggs if I were dining in.
No too far from Rideout Hospital for a reference point. It is worth checking this place out.

Great food with huge portions. They will build anything you like.

This place is great. Amazing burgers. We haven’t been there in a while because it’s always SO busy. When you’re starving you really don’t want to wait.
If you have more patience than us, I highly recommend you do wait. I believe we usually get the rodeo burger on Dutch crunch. It is superb. Huge, juicy, hunk-​a-​burger!
Flavors blend well, everything melts in your mouth. The crunch is the crunchiest. Can get super messy though so be prepared.
Place is extremely tiny. The kitchen takes up most of the joint. Extremely popular so it always gets so crowded inside which is a some what turn off. They have indoor seating and an outdoor patio out back. Parking is usually finicky too since it gets so busy.
Like I said, if you got the patience they got the food. Avoid lunch times, best to try off times if you don’t mind the odd hour.
