History
Established in 1976.
In 1976 a few nurses in the Martinsburg, WV area observed a health care need for migrants that traveled to the area and worked on nearby orchards. After recruiting a few providers to help in this mission, they applied for community health grant funding, in which they were successful. They named this health care entity «Intercounty Health». Intercounty Health quickly became the place for many families to go for thier health care needs. Eventually, it’s name changed and Shenandoah Valley Medical Center was built on Shepherdstown Rd in Martinsburg. This location and it’s staff continued to serve the community for several years. Once that building was outgrown, Shenandoah Community Health Center was built at 99 Tavern Rd in Martinsburg which still remains today as the center of Shenandoah Community Health’s vast array of services and locations.
