We met MHS at the Presidio Bridal event in San Francisco over a year before our wedding. We knew right away that we wanted them to play at our wedding. They were one of our best vendors. We got married during Memorial weekend at the Observation Post Presidio in San Francisco.
MHS have been great from the very beginning. The email communications from the very start were fast in response time and sweet. On our wedding day our family and friends complimented on how beautiful the musical arrangements were. Everyone’s favorite were of course, Game of Thrones and Indiana Jones.
Gretchen, Kerry and Megan are definitely very talented, sweet and delightful to work with. I’m subscribed to their email newsletters and will definitely come out to Danville to listen to them play again. I definitely recommend MHS to anyone that is looking for beautiful music arrangements that will be a memorable experience on your special day.

We booked Musical Heart Strings for our wedding 4÷24÷2016. We’d heard Gretchen and Kerry play several times before and they are terrific so it was no question for us when choosing our ceremony musicians. We chose the piano trio and they played pre-​ceremony, ceremony, and cocktail hour. They are so unique and I love that we had some original classical music along with some Journey! They truly do play it all. When I walked out and heard A Thousand Years being played I was brought to tears. I cannot stress enough how magical live musicians make a wedding and I am so glad we found Musical Heart Strings. Thank you all so much!

Musical Heart Strings was such a joy at our wedding. They brought the warmth on our rainy rainy wedding day! My guests absolutely loved their music and continuously stopped me throughout the wedding to tell me how amazing they they thought they were! Six stars! Gretchen, Kerry and Megan played our wedding on March 12^th and it was PERFECT. They were the first vendor we selected in the whole wedding planning process and they were exceptionally delighful. They helped us with special arrangements (a recessional to «Take a Chance on Me» by ABBA… don’t mind if we do!), plus a secret song for my beloved (guilty pleasure «Love You Like a Love Song» by Selena Gomez was BOSS on strings!)
I don’t know if the highlight was our processional «Rainbow Connection,» or arms in the air while everyone doing «YMCA», or «Kashmir» by Led Zeppelin, or the entire wedding party singing along to Erasure and Queen’s «Bohemian Rhapsody», but it was wonderful to have them be the anchor at our wedding. They are the best of the best: Fun, sweet, engaging, flexible (think overtime, and rain!), TALENTED, and did I say FUN? We want to hire them again just so we can hear our set again, we loved it so much!

I had Musical Heart Strings play quartet instrumental for my wedding and they were fabulous and easy to work with! The music was phenomenal and added a nice touch that all of my wedding guests appreciated and complimented on. Kerry and her crew played at our wedding, and they could not have been better. They put together a number of customer arrangements for songs that we requested, played extremely well, and they bring amplification (and only use if necessary), which is not common for stringed quartets in the area. I particularly like how they are able to quickly relocate around the venue to move where the crowd is. Additionally, their price is extremely competitive with other ensembles. Highly recommend this group.

HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLYYYY RECOMMENDED
After finding our venue and realizing that the city of Sunol does not allow outdoor amplified music, we HAD to find a band/​string to play our ceremony! Oh boy more money.
After researching a bit and looking at the venue’s preferred vendors, my husband started looking on their websites and listening to samples. Well, he fell in LOVE with MHS. WE got a quote and then decided to head to one of their little gigs they do. They had one at the Pear in Napa, and we were sold. (Luckily we went to hear them play because during the wedding we were too busy taking pictures to enjoy the cocktail hour! Alas, but we KNOW they did wonderfully and guests loved them).
We hired the trio, just in case the duo wasn’t «loud» enough. Kerry and Gretchen are awesome! (Sorry, I never properly met the third person!!) They are so outgoing and cheerful, we felt we were in safe hands! (They had a mini tumble during the gig we watched in Napa, but they kept on playing without missing a beat! So enthusiastic! LOVE IT!)
Their music list is awesome, we loved it all. We will definitely continue to try to go out to Napa to hear them play again! Communication was easy, didn’t feel pressured for payments, received a lovely card from them after. THANK YOU LADIES!

This group turned out an amazing wedding performance with only a short time to prep and get all the details in order. Working with Kerry and Gretchen was extremely easy and friendly on the administrative side and their presence in the event set the tone for an extraordinary wedding.
All of our guests were amazed by their sound and professionalism but mostly by the way they seemed to have fun and complement the entire event. I was tickled to see the looks on guests’ faces when they would all of a sudden recognize themes like «Jurassic Park» or «Rubber Ducky» inserted so elegantly into the set throughout dinner and the reception.
This trio plays a great range of classical and popular music that seems as though it would be perfect for nearly any occasion. We would loved to have had the premier piano quartet but due to scheduling we only had the option of the trio. We were certainly not disappointed. These ladies produced a full and beautiful sound throughout the evening.

We hired Musical Heart Strings for our wedding on September 5^th in Napa. From my initial communication with Gretchen and Kerry to the wedding, it was absolutely seamless. The trio (Gretchen, Kerry, and Megan) was extremely professional and played exquisitely at our wedding. They played for our ceremony, cocktail hour and part of our reception. We had an unusual request with our DJ playing Cold Play’s Viva La Vida as we enter, then fade music to allow for Musical Heart Strings to start dinner service with their rendition of Viva La Vida. MHS did this so seamless that none of the guests realize the transition!
Our guests were so impressed with their modern rendition of classical pieces during cocktail hour that they asked us for MHS information so that they may hire them. They have a huge repertoire of music to choose from that it made choosing musical pieces easy. MHS made our wedding elegant and beautiful. Musical Heart Strings is the best!
We worked with Kerry and Gretchen on our wedding and they were a huge hit. They were very professional and personable at the same time. At no point did we feel like simply a client. We had an outdoor wedding that was set up in the round, and they were flexible and accommodating when trying to figure out what would work best for them and our guests. They played for our ceremony and cocktail hour.
Their music was perfect for our day. We wanted upbeat and light hearted. They came prepared with a wonderful mix of old, new, fun, and classical pieces. When we asked them if they could prepare a new song that was recently released, they sent us an arrangement they had prepared within one week. It was absolutely delightful and, for us, made our ceremony that much more special.
We have no regrets about working with them and would hire them for any party — wedding or otherwise!

We hired the duo to play for our ceremony and cocktail hour for our wedding and it was perfect! They have a wide range of music with some really fun modern additions to spice things up. Our guests really enjoyed the music at the cocktail hour, upbeat, kept the party going, and the ceremony music was just perfect as well. HIGHLY recommend Musical Heart Strings for your event! I cannot say enough good things about Musical Heart Strings. My husband and I were married at Saint Francis Solano Church in Sonoma with our reception at The Lodge at Sonoma, and MHS played our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner. The backdrop of their music was just perfect and we received so many compliments about them throughout the day.
We chose the quartet (with keyboard), and Kerry, Gretchen, Matt and Megan did an incredible job. Since it was a full catholic mass, we had specific musical requirements and even a couple songs that they gladly learned for our service. They also worked with a cantor at the church for the hymns and took time out of their schedules to rehearse before the ceremony. It was above and beyond! Their selection at our cocktail hour and dinner was perfect (there was even a sing-​a-​long to Bohemian Rhapsody). You can’t beat Musical Heart Strings!

Kerry, Gretchen, and Megan of Musical Heart Strings are a delight to work with. We hired the trio to play at our wedding and everyone loved them. We did our wedding differently than most. We had them play the processional and recessional songs during the ceremony and the rest of the time they played during the reception. They played beautifully and looked lovely, too! They were very friendly and accommodating with our requests: having them accompany a vocalist during the processional, learning Dolly Parton (my husband’s a big fan!), and playing our choice of songs from The Lord of the Rings to Let It Go, from Guns N Roses to Edelweiss. The price was very reasonable, too. We give them two thumbs way up. If you’re looking to hire strings to play at your wedding, we highly, highly recommend Musical Hearts Strings!

Kerry and Gretchen were our string duo for our wedding in Pleasanton, Ca. What an amazing experience! From the strong communication and helpful advice they provided before the event to the actual music at the event (perfectly executed), we were 100% satisfied.
They played an astonishing ‘Game of Thrones’ intro right before our first dance, which was one of the highlights of the evening.
They are kind, friendly, and amazing musicians. Our wedding would not have been the same without them.

After finding Musical Heart Strings on
, we watched a performance at a local venue (they were accompanied by another violinist and played as a trio). Kerry & Gretchen exceeded our expectations in their selection of music, help us to choose ‘our’ songs and the actual performance.
For our wedding, we had a small vow ceremony with just family, followed by a celebration with 70+ friends. The contract was to play for 3 hours during the celebration, but they called the day before and asked if they could join us and perform during the vow ceremony. Their performance was a surprise for my wife and made the vow ceremony extra special!
We conducted the celebration outside on the terrace, under the oak trees at Contra Costa Country Club. During the celebration, the mix of music was from old love songs to current pop music. The musicians were set up in a corner of the terrace; the music was unobtrusive and provided a great background. We received numerous positive comments from the guests.
Kerry & Gretchen are always smiling, easy to work with and just plain wonderful. I highly recommend Musical Heart Strings. You will be very happy.
