I have spent money here in the past, but this time I came in looking for individual components for a rifle build as well as to get another ¹⁰⁄₂₂ magazine and a 1000 rounds of .22LR.
The guy up at the counter started fielding my questions. I told him I wanted to do a scratch build and asked what he had in terms of uppers, lowers, buffer tubes, stocks, barrels, etc. and he indeed had plenty of stuff like that. Then I asked about the extra magazines and if he had Federal brand 22 ammo and that’s when that fat, bearded, slob mouthed off… «yeah we have all that kind of stuff, this is a gun store! Where have you been?» … And then something like, «Boy, you must have like $ 2500 to spend, coming in here and asking about all that»
My father was there witness to this and it also cost Canyon some handgun purchase dollars. Dad and I stopped for a second and looked at each other in disbelief, and then we both told Fat Slob Counter Guy that we didn’t like his attitude. FSCG claimed he was joking around, but absolutely nothing in his words or tone could have indicated playfulness. His responses further devolved into pointless sarcastic posturing, revealing his true prick nature.
I don’t know what part of running a business involves getting sarcastic with customers who ask what you sell. Some stores don’t stock everything under the sun, excuse me for asking what you carry. But above all else, it’s profoundly rude to question how much money I have. You don’t know me, motherfucker?! As a matter of fact, yes, I was gonna build as much of my rifle as possible with components from his store, but now that stupid slob ain’t getting a piece of the pie.
They have a sticker up by the front door saying that Unilocal is bad for small businesses… Well, maybe Canyon just doesn’t like Unilocal because Unilocal documents their record of intolerable customer service.
Treat me with the respect I deserve and everything is fine. I hope these sour, ignorant fucks go out of business.

I’m a firearms instructor and police officer. I’ve been to and been around hundreds of gun stores. The employees in this shop, including the manager are completely rude. They also have ZERO idea what they’re talking about when it comes to firearms. Literally THE WORST experience I’ve had at a gun store. I was in the shop for three minutes before I realized I was dealing with a bunch of rude hillbillies.

I had a smooth transaction with a decent price. The quoted price over the phone matched the price when I arrived at the store. The staff where knowledgeable about the products, and the product is exactly what I expected. It was fun chatting with the staff. The owner is really nice. I enjoyed shopping here and will do it again. My new favorite store.

I tried to do no stars, but Unilocal required at least one. In this case, one bad apple does spoil the whole bunch. There is one guy on staff — a big, burly, blow-​hard with a long beard that is way over-​confident, misogynistic, ignorant, and basically an all around #@#$@#%~@#% (I didn’t know what Unilocal would allow). The guy should find another job, maybe even put in a cage. No manners, no customer service, generally an all around jerk. He’s been short and rude to me before, but to my daughter %&^%&#!, F U and the horse you rode in on cowboy. Never, NEVER, coming back.

Came in with my kids. Lots of selection. I found these guys to be friendly and informative. They are chill and efficient, which is what I would expect from someone who sells guns, somewhat serious stuff. I will be buying from them again.

I went in to get info about what type of gun I needed, they were very helpful and straightforward about everything, also suggesting someone who would help me learn about the gun I would be getting. Nice straightforward guys. I have yet to buy the gun suggested but I will be back soon.

I don’t know what other people think but I think these people are cool here. I came here few times and wanted to check out an AR15. Frustrating time I went in I don’t know what I was doing so they didn’t really give me any attention. Which is totally fine with me because I wouldn’t know what to ask them all I want is to see a Daniel defense V9 or V11. I just saw them over the counter and looked around the store some more and take off. Because I wanted to go home and do some more research on the model. The second time I went in I ask them for help and they show me the V9 and V11. I forgot the dude name but he was awesome. He gave me whole lot of info and suggestions. I end still didn’t purchased the V11 from them because they didn’t have the color I want but I think I will pick up an EOTECH from them.
I like their service from here very friendly staff.

Knowledgeable sales people willing to help the novice. Just looking at my 1^st handgun and they were very helpful.
Great wide selection of handguns, rifles and shotguns. Fair prices too. Treated my wife with respect something you don’t always get in a gun store.

True, they may come off as brash if you have no idea what you want but if you ask the staff questions I think you will find that they are very helpful, the selection is huge and the prices are very competetive.

I know what kind of guns I like and want. I know what kind of ammo I need for the guns I like. These guys have a great selection of both. With that being said, I have bought from these guys before and called in asking to see if they have a gun in stock. Turns out they did, but it was a variation of what I was looking for. Getting wrapped up in the less than minute long conversation on the gun itself in respect to what it’s differences are between it and the one I was looking for, I stop him before we hang up and ask him for the price. The man rudely replies with «I already told you it is $xxx.xx.»
Get some new people or plan on going out of business within the next decade. Garbage customer service. I am an Army vet myself and even I know that you don’t treat your customers so disrespectfully for simple inquiries.

My husband and I went today to pass our written test and buy our first gun. The guys at Canyon Sports were the best! For me personally, they made me feel comfortable and confidant during this life changing purchase.

Looking for sweet individuals to tell you how great you look with that gun in your hand, look elsewhere. This isn’t a candy store, local bar, or a commercial with that super upbeat lady from Progressive insurance.
This is a GUN SHOP, A FIRE ARMS RETAILER!!! A very serious business, because if your not SAFE with FIRE ARMS people get HURT!!! See, simple.
I have had great experiences here with knowledge, insight, and great deals if you keep your eyes open. Just made a purchase that was 180.00 cheaper than the competition! That’s awesome!
The staff was helpful, courteous, and streamlined my transaction (as firearm purchases go, there is quite a bit of paper work, as there should be). They made sure that I got what I wanted and that it was not unnecessarily difficult.
I’m a shopper, I do my research, and I visit multiple places before I make a decision. This is a great place to purchase a firearm. But don’t take my word for it check it out yourself.

The bad reviews are 100% dead on. These guys are terrible. Customer service is non existent. I came in looking for LSWC 38 ammo in 158gr*. the younger stocky guy behind the counter said he never even heard of semi wad cutter ammo for a 38 before. then just stared at me until I asked if there was any other shop that might have a bigger selection of ammo… his reply «none that i know of».
I thanked him for his over the top customer service and left.
Don’t go there. ever. you will regret it.
Ended up at Triple A’s in vallejo. Great team over there and they had what i needed.
*granted LSWC in 38 is not as popular as 9 mm but it’s far from rare and usually available.

I’ve been to this gun store 8 – 15 times in so many years… maybe more or less… I’ve seen them lie and bullshit to sell a gun… but going in if you don’t know what you want and haven’t done your research… you deserve it…
The owner needs to get a better staff… Everyone looks bothered… I can/​do understand… same questions over and over… and so many lookie Lou’s…pulling gun after gun just to hold and hand back… life is so hard…
I don’t have a problem with that… like I wrote, I understand… Serving in the Marines you meet and understand that everyone is fucked up in the head…
But when you state your shop is opened til 5pm… Don’t lock up your long guns at 4:45pm…don’t try to hurry the customers at 10 minutes to 5 pm so everyone/​staff can leave at 5pm… if the owner won’t just pay u to the hour then lock up at 4:30…
Yes everyone is rude… Yes there prices are retail or higher… mostly higher… Go in for yourself for a laugh… They seem to think they are the only gun store… I would go across the state for a better deal… Remember to tell you friends to stay away… otherwise deep down you like it…

Incredibly rude staff, holier then thou attitude made me want to write this review. Zero effort put out to help the customer, talking back and denying things that were said last time, these people are a joke…

Most of the negative reviews are accurate to a point, the point that it’s only half of the story from someone who is upset and wouldn’t admit any guilt on their part. I have noticed the employees who are GRUFF seem to have good days and bad. The guy in the picture every one is talking about (lets call him Gruff) has been very nice and helpful to me a few times when I was looking at hand guns even though I mentioned I was just browsing that day, other days all he does is stand there and stare at me until someone else helps me.
The positive reviews are of the same nature and I believe they went when Gruff was having a good day.
Although there are many poorly priced items, not everything is overpriced. Several of their hand guns are priced the same as other shops or would compare if you bought online because of the transfer/​delivery fees, they have a section where the long guns are on racks over near the safes and most of those are priced well. They have lots of bulk and plinking ammo in front of the counter that is priced very inexpensive and most of their mid-​high end ammo is comparable to Big 5. A lot of their accessories are priced well, I have bought a number of AR and shot gun accessories and they seem to be inline with the going rate.
However, most of their higher end hand guns seem to be over priced as well as the rifles behind the counter. There are also a number of accessories that I know are less expensive elsewhere.

And to add to this, some people experience a sort of high from firearms, like they are invincible. Like owning guns, they could take on all the bad guys like a super hero. So imagine if you owned hundreds of guns, thousands of rounds of ammo and had a small army of people working for you. Would you feel superior, I think so. Some people are not humble and can’t hide their pride or arrogance. But I guess this is more of an excuse while being rude is still not acceptable.

I’ve purchased several guns here, safe, ammo, etc. They know what they’re talking about. I recently picked up my Savage Arms .338 Lapua Magnum 110FCP Rifle and Steiner M5Xi Scope 5−25×56. I can’t be more excited about the entire interaction. I worked with Ron and he went over the top to get me setup properly! I suppose my favorite part is listening to the dumb ass questions people ask in the store and then bitch about it later on Unilocal.If you legitimately get offended in this store than you need to suck it up, you’re likely at Canyon Sports to buy something of significant power. If you can’t handle some grief or shit talking than you honestly don’t deserve to own a damn firearm.
Today I worked with Zach and grabbed some .338 and a bad ass case for the ginormous Savage Arms .338. I couldn’t help myself after coming on earlier reading these reviews to kill time I was obligated to post… Keep doing what you’re doing, and i’ll keep supporting these true Americans in the area.

I came into this place to purchase a handgun. They had it in stock, and a for a fair price. The guy helping me with the paperwork was pleasant and helpful, so was the woman working the register. I left my first visit satisfied.
10 days later, on the day I was expected to pick the gun up, I give them a call to make sure I was clear to leave with the gun before making my long drive to their location (I was coming from SF, over an hour away). Guy on the phone says «yeah your good». Then when I arrive he greets me «are you the nervous guy that called about a pistol?» Thats not the way you speak to a paying customer. Its the perfect way to lose a customer in my book.
Unfortunately this guy (large man with beard) had a terrible attitude my entire visit, and ruined any chance for a good review. I won’t be returning.

Pretty much same as reviews as everyone else. Manager there has a bad attitude. Better deals at BUDS​GUN​SHOP​.COM! Glad I found them!
Also to add, I totally support local businesses and wouldn’t mind paying a little more but that’s all the more reason not to be a prick when your there.
