Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to gastrointestinal tract. Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates provides a variety of colonoscopy-​related services and information about the inflamed tissue, abnormal growths, ulcers, bleeding and muscle spasms. The center also performs various other diagnostic services that include CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging. Additionally, it offers several other imaging services that are accredited by the National Institute of Diabetes and Kidney Diseases. History

Established in 1993.

As physicians with the great skill and expertise in the field of gastroenterology obtained through years of experience, Dr. Thomas McCaffery, Dr. James Lilly, and Dr. Steve Price founded MGA in 1983. They were committed to provide patients with the best possible medical care within a reasonable and realistic cost. To provide convenience and the best possible care for patients, two offices were established; one near Baptist Hospital and the other on the West Bank. In 1985, to better meet the needs of our patients, a third office was opened in Metairie adjacent to East Jefferson General Hospital. The MGA Gastrointestinal Diagnostic & Therapeutic Center, a separate corporation was founded in the fall of 1992 as outpatient endoscopy centers with locations Uptown and on the Westbank. An additional location was opened in Metairie in the fall, 2000. The centers provide a facility for our physicians to perform endoscopic procedures which had been done only in the hospital.
