What a disappointment! This has been one of my favorite places to grab lunch the past several years. Evidently they are steering their focus more towards a catering business. They have greatly reduced their menu. The sandwich I had was not what I had grown to expect from Sweet Basil. The bread seemed like it was yesterdays bread, it was a 7 grain baguette, the kind where you hurt your mouth when you bite into it. The asparagus soup, I couldn’t even finish it. I used to love their soups. I would think if they are trying to focus more on catering they would make sure the limited items they offer in their storefront would reflect the quality they would serve in that business. I will really miss the old Sweet Basil!

We almost didn’t go in because there were no other customers but so glad we did. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich & sweet broccoli salad & my husband had a chicken avacado blt. The sub-style bun tasted fresh baked & held up really well to the chicken salad. The chicken salad had sweet basal in it. I’ve never tasted anything like it but I loved it. The girl working the counter was so sweet. She smiled, was patient, helpful. All qualities that are often absent. While there was limited seating, I think catering may be the bulk of their business.

Mmmm… probably one of my favorite places to stop for sandwiches and other sunny-day picnic appropriate goodies. You really can’t beat a good sandwich on crusty bread with a bottle of Lorina or wine out on the beach.(and also the perfect excuse for me to use my picnic wine glass holders).
