Sushi Kingdom

I’ve been coming to sushi kingdom for a while. And normally it’s great (obviously if i come back!) but I cannot stress enough the importance of good service which i find to be severly lacking here. I’ve gone twice this week and have never been more disrespected. They got our orders wrong to start and took a while to get our orders out. After our first round of sushi, i left a roll that tasted very funny. We were promptly asked what ice cream we wanted and after asking for more slips were laughed at and given attitude. After taking the slips they looked back and wrote notes on it. We waited for our sushi but were instead given the check. Obviously we were very upset… And when we complained… They did nothing. The sushi is great here but the service is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I wasn’t given great service, the option of food or consideration.

Superb! Quality sushi, incredibly fast service, friendly staff. I’ve read on here complaints about the «rudeness» of the staff. Hogwash. East Asians tend to be reserved, not the gushy emotive types Americans seem to expect everywhere they go. This is nothing more than a cultural difference. (On the same note, does the average American even know that the sushi restaurants around here are owned and operated by Chinese? How’s that for a cultural lesson?) I love sushi, and this is the BEST sushi restaurant in the Philadelphia area. Your want fancy atmosphere and exaggerated prices, sure you can go elsewhere. But I’m going back to Sushi Kingdom.

I know my profile is new, but I have never found a need to personally tell people to not come to a restaurant.
However, the time has come. I came to Sushi Kingdom in New Jersey because there was once a Sushi Kingdom closer to where I lived in Philadelphia that gave great service and had delicious food (all you can eat of course). The problem arose when the Sushi Kingdom in Philadelphia closed.
6÷8÷16, I was joined by my wife and three children with my cousin and her husband and 2 children. The first problem came with how this specific restaurant handled pricing. My children range from 6 months to 4 years old as of this writing. They charge $ 12.75 for any child ages 3 — 9. You’re telling me anyone over 9 is an adult? Now the next point is how much «all can you eat» do you think a 4 year old can eat that’s worth $ 12.75? Many folks reading this will think «well you wanted to go to the restaurant, so deal with it.» To which I say: I agree.
So we stayed even though I thought the pricing was just ludicrous. The second most glaring problem came in the waitress’ attitudes. Wow was it bad! Definitely believe the other reviewers when they say the service is worse than sub-​par. It took forever to get the food and it wasn’t even busy, then to add insult to injury they had such lousy customer service even when they didn’t bring all the food that we ordered.
There was no opportunity to get a third bullet in there because in closing I would not recommend this restaurant to even my own worst enemy. Stay away, stay very far away. By the way, the third bullet if I had one would be that the food was FAR from fresh. Stay away! You were warned!

Decided to give this place another shot, and I was glad that I did! The service was very fast today! The sushi was on point for an all you can eat sushi place! Great job sushi kingdom!

Good sushi, fast service!
We came here at 9pm on a Saturday and ordered soup and salad, and a bunch of sushi. The appetizers came in 5 minutes and the massive plate of sushi came 10 minutes and 33 seconds later. Everything was delicious!

Visited today… Food is good, however you will be waiting for it (wasn’t even that busy). $ 24 per person on the weekend, all you can eat.
Big sign DO NOT WASTE FOOD OR YOU WILL PAY FOR IT… For someone like me very disturbing, I understand it literally, I was scared someone will come and examine my plate after I’m done:| I ordered less and stuffed my mouth with very last sushi peace… lol
Service is very poor… Waitresses threw food on our tables and run away… barely said anything.
When asked for something they seemed annoyed.
Two times however they came over to replace soy sauce… not sure why) there were 2 bottles both ¾ full) girl came over and said «soy sauce «…we were like «what?», she repeated: SOY SAUCE!!! we gave her the bottle and she threw full bottle on the table and left…
Few minutes later another person did the same thing for the second bottle, this time we knew what to do!!! yay!!!
but, Come on… they could of done it after we leave… weird:/

I only come here for the salmon sashimi and green tea ice cream because they are so good here! Everything else is okay to good. I do like some of their special rolls and Kani salads though. However, service is always just okay. Sometimes you wait around a lot even if it’s not super busy.
I would recommend if you like sashimi and always do buffet in my opinion it’s more worth the money. If none of the above apply then other sushi restaurants will be better for you.
Price is currently $ 24 per person, it used to be $ 20 and it seems like the buffet menu got a little smaller.

Buffet??? Had me waiting foreverrrrrrr. The people wont even look you in the eye. You try to flag them and they run away. When you finallh get your food you wanna get the hell out of there. Neverrrr again. No kingdom here. Need the food quick and fast. It wasent bad food. If service was fast and better. This was a year ago. Just getting on Unilocal now so hopfully they changed. Ill be dropping in soon. If they got better ill remove this. If not one star.

Yeah… no. Came here with a large group for dinner expecting it to be a great time. BYOB is fine, but it was a pain to get wine glasses. Had to ask several times. They refused to give more than one menu for eight people to look at until asked multiple times… and then they gave us ONE additional menu. I understand the concept of the ordering sheets, but still, at least give the group menus to look at even if we don’t use them to place our orders on. The sushi was delicious, and the all-​you-​can eat option bumps this place up a few stars. The service is 1-​star. Don’t go there on a Saturday night expecting much of anything except to be handed your food…

First place I’ve gotten all you can eat. I wish I could give this a 3.5 stars.
I guess it’s great that they do have it. Not as many options as I would have hoped for speciality rolls but still not too bad!
I would recommend coming here for for the fresh fish! Especially the salmon. Seriously. It’s awesome. Their system is you look on a piece of paper and order accordingly. I wish there were at least pictures… only downside.
Also get the appetizers! They’re not exactly Japanese appetizers, more like Asian fusion. Still pretty good!

The food here was good last time I came in and it’s still good now so I’m probably going to be a regular customer

I’ve used come to sushi kingdom quite regularly due to their fresh sashimi. The customer service has always been subpar and when they got busy they would forget to bring half your order. But the waitresses were tolerable and sometimes pleasant.
This time around, after about a year since my previous visit, the customer service has gotten to a point of no forgiveness. The waitresses are rude and look like they are miserable. The worst was when I asked for the bill, the waitress rolled her eyes and had the audacity to tell me «could you please eat those two pieces of sashimi first?» That is horrendously rude and highly inappropriate customer service. I will not be returning to sushi kingdom in the future.

I didn’t see what people meant by crappy service. I thought the service was great! the food was good! but the price sucks! $ 23 for adults and $ 3 drinks, though?! Came out to $ 57 for 2 adults. Not really any cheaper than going to any other sushi place.
If you’re going to charge me $ 20+ to eat please don’t charge me $ 3 for a $ 1 drink. Next time I’ll get a less filling water and eat more sushi and I’ll also take my sweet time eating so the line in lobby can wait even longer for a table.

I’m giving Sushi Kingdom 3 stars because of the service. It wasn’t horrendous but the servers all had an I dont care vibe and made me a feel a little uncomfortable. They all didn’t smile at all and looked miserable the whole time we were there and it took too long to get their attention. So the food was good, not too fabulous but for $ 22 bucks a person you can’t really expect too much. The sushi is good, however, not too unique. Also, I asked for water and both my bf & I agreed that the second we sipped into the straw, we could taste that it was tap water (YUCK). On the bright side, the ability to eat all you want is a big BIG plus. We stayed for 2 and a half hours and ate until our stomachs almost exploded.

Look, for the amount of Ala Carte sushi. its not bad! Its not A buffet, is its astounding??! no. But At least its made to order & they are decent.
Especially when I go with bunch friends from the gym., guys eat like 8 – 10 rolls.LOL.

I’ve been going to this place for years (Now I’ve moved out of the area), and this past weekend’s experience wasn’t on par with my previous visits. The last time I’ve been here must have been close to 6+ Months ago. The Servers were nice and easy to talk to. They were prompt with refilling water.
The Sashimi we ordered (Specifically Salmon and White Tuna) used to be so much more fresh. It was the only reason why I drive all the way out from Philly to eat here. I’ve been to a lot of sushi places and they used to have the best Sashimi around.
However, this past weekend, the quality of the Sashimi was just like any other sushi place. I would give an extra star if the quality was consistent but it was not. With every order we put in the quality of the Sashimi went down and by the end of our 4^th order in (we had over 7 people in the group) the quality was bad enough that I was questioning if I should be eating the white tuna. The last order of white tuna had a pink dye near the center and I’ve never had White tuna with that color before so I was very weary of the fact. After couple of exchanges with the restaurant staff, I was told I don’t have to eat the Sashimi (They initially were going to charge us). I stayed cool and talked it out with them explaining my experience with eating white tuna and they understand my concern. So all in all? I want to believe they still serve the quality Sashimi that I once had but for now I am not craving for their food for the time being.

My wife and I have been here a couple of times and we enjoyed it every time. Ever since we moved to the area we have been looking for a place to fill the gap that Sushi Palace had left. We were happy to find this place just down the road from us.
The first time we went it was rather dead so we were able to get a good amount of sushi rather quickly. The selection was great, very similar to Sushi Palace. A bunch of rolls, sashimi, some hot stuff and individual pieces. We always get a wide variety on our first go and we were impressed by how quickly the food came out. The sushi was great but not quite as good as Sushi Palace (hence the 4 instead of 5).
Definitely worth the trip and several return trips.

Service is not great and atmosphere was not my favorite either — it was confusing to be listening to Chinese music at what is supposed to be Japanese restaurant. I’m guessing the staff just plays music they want to listen to? I totally understand that listening to music helps the work shift go by faster, but for the customers sake, I’d suggest just playing instrumental/​ambience music?
If you order a lot of sashimi — you definitely get your $ 22.50’s worth. Warning — the albacore tuna sashimi is fried! Recommended: the white tuna and the salmon! Everything else on the menu was pretty standard for an AYCE sushi place. Every time you turn in a sheet, it take a while for your food to come out so plan accordingly.

I am definitely not a sushi aficionado but this is pretty decent sushi! Second time I’ve been here and I don’t have many complaints. It is moderately good sushi. I’ve had better (also cost more) and I’ve had the sushi from local hibachi places and this is in between, as well as it should be for the price. Had the garden salad with ginger dressing– loved the ginger dressing, it wasn’t all chunky like it is at Benihana’s. Had tempura shrimp and broccoli– tempura batter is nice and light and it comes right out of the fryer so it’s still hot. Also spring rolls, excellent. Had a few basic rolls and speciality rolls. Which were very yummy!
It’s nice this place is a BYOB because they only give you cans or bottles when you order drinks, no free refills (unless water).
The atmosphere is nice as well. The only complaint I have is that some of the waitresses are just unpleasant. There was a young male waiter who was very nice and friendly tonight though.

After having visited this place twice, I’m still less than impressed. Service is simply awful. The servers are unpleasant and never visit your table to refill drinks.
When you’re seated at the table, you’re given these two sheets of paper with checklists of the sushi offered. There’s no clear directions or specifications.
Also on each table there’s a HIGHLY off-​putting sign about food shortages in the world and if you don’t finish everything on your plate, they’ll charge you. It’s almost as if you’re a child getting threatened into clearing your plate.
The sushi was not good at all. Every roll we ordered came warm, which was a huge red flag for me. My California roll was oozing with warm avocado, which made for a disgusting mouth feel.
At almost $ 50 bucks for two people, the price isn’t worth the awful food and bad service. Even as a last resort, I still would never come back here.
