Founded by James R. Varrell, MD, Center for Family Guidance, PC is dedicated to providing the highest quality behavioral health services to individuals, families and organizations. We do this through the experience & expertise of our staff, the convenience and accessibility of our practice and through an uncompromising commitment to the principle that success in relationships is the foundation on which personal well-​being can be achieved.

CFG, PC has been a pioneer of telepsychiatry in New Jersey. Telepsychiatry is the use of state-​of-​the-​art audio & video telecommunications equipment to deliver psychiatric care when the patient & practitioner are at different locations.

This technology allows for a patient-​to-​provider interaction that closely replicates physically being present & allows for expert treatment to patients in locations distant from the primary caregiver. Moreover it allows for 24 hours per day, 7 days a week access, effectively providing ongoing crisis intervention.

The founder & Medical Director, Dr. Varrell is American Board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology, & certified in American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Varrell has the ability to think outside the box in a way that brings success to the projects in which he becomes involved. He displays his creative abilities, great dependability & effective skills in psychiatry through his development and implementation of mental health treatment systems to numerous individuals, families & organizations. Dr. Varrell has an extensive background in child/​adolescent psychiatry. His continuing success is easily seen through his development & implementation of psychiatric treatment systems through inpatient psychiatric units, hospitals/​residential facilities, acute settings in correctional facilities, (adult & juvenile), as well as in school systems. He is widely known and recommended through out New Jersey and is greatly respected for his talent as a psychiatrist and entrepreneur.
