Marlboro Airport was founded in 1922, the era when barnstormers flew «by the seat of their pants.» It is the oldest continuously operating commercial field in the state of Massachusetts. Currently it hosts one Fixed Base Operator, Don’s Flying Service, named for former airport manager Don LaCouture Sr. The field’s managers have included:

Recently had a chance to take a flight! It was enthralling beyond my expectations. After about a 10 minute lesson, where you are able to taxi up and down the runway, Matt explained and let me have a hands on demonstration of all 3 of the helicopters controls. After that he took back the controls and we went on a 10 minute (or so) flight around the area. It was beautiful beyond words and such a rush going over the water and trees.

About 6 months ago I started taking helicopter lessons with Chief Helicopter Instructor Matthew Macaruso at Don’s Flying Service located at Marlborough, MA airport. Helicopters always fascinated me as a child so now, at age 62, I decided to log enough hours of instruction to be able to fly solo and eventually obtain my license.
The ground and air instruction with Matt have been superb in that they were at once professional and encouraging. The entire atmosphere at the Marlborough Airport is welcoming and it did not take long to feel like one of the «flying community.»
Additionally, I have seen many people flying with Matt who have received helicopter lessons/​tours as gifts. Matt gives everyone his undivided attention whether you are there for a once in a life experience or as his student. I was impressed with Matt’s dedication to teaching and sincere passion for flying helicopters.
In sum, the Marlborough Airport owner, Sandy, and Airport Manager, Bruce, along with Matt, make the flying experience first rate.
