History

Established in 1998.

This school was founded by Virginia McDonald, a teacher of the gifted and talented in the Marlboro School district for 30 years, to successfully address the many and varied developmental needs of the preschool child. She has been committed to the lowest teacher-​to-​student ratio in the area as well as the most professionally trained and talented staff. Class size is small so students receive the individual attention they deserve at this most precious time in their lives.

Ms. McDonald was a teacher of the gifted and talented in the Marlboro School District for 27 years. In 1998, while still a full time teacher in Marlboro, she founded Turtle Creek Learning Academy as an outgrowth of her master’s thesis. During her tenure in Marlboro, she conducted many workshops especially in reading theory and strategies. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 2010, the year she retired from public education to devote her time to her beloved Turtle Creek. She is a former marathoner and hiker, but her passion is preschool education.
