The Mariposa County Visitor Center advises tourists and residents on road conditions, current events and activities available in Yosemite National Park as well as our local community.

History

Established in 2000.

The Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce was founded for the purpose to promote, preserve, and advocate for the businesses in Mariposa County. This Non-​Profit 501c (6) is a membership based organization that wishes to enhance the lives of its neighbors by use of commerce. The Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce also holds the contract for the Mairposa County Visitors Center and manages it at our location.

Kyle is the Administrative Executive for the Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce and manages the functions of the Visitors Center and of the Chamber of Commerce under the direction of the President/​CEO and/​or the Mairposa County Chamber Board of Directors.

This was a fantastic stop on our way to explore the park. We went during the off season in the fall, and one of the main roads was closed, so I thought we weren’t going to be able to see any of the attractions, and that our trip was a complete waste. But no! The clerk was so informative and helpful and completely saved our trip! She told us of a route that would take us into the park and loop around so we could see all the landmarks, like waterfalls and half dome, and then conveniently come back around to our hotel on the other side of the park. She also suggested a couple of local museums that would give us a greater appreciation for the area. We were also looking to pan for gold, and she was able to give us advice, direct us to a place to buy supplies, and tell us a little local lore about people finding nuggets in the gutter! We also purchased maps and got some free literature about the park during the fall. Thank goodness for places like this! It not only helps the town thrive on tourism, but helps visitors appreciate all there is to do and see.

The park ranger at the desk was so informative, we only had a few hours to visit and she gave us all the information we needed and more. She gave us the maps and highlighted them with places where we should stop. She let us prepay our entrance fee and good thing she gave us the brochures because we were pretty hungry once we got to Yosemite Valley, it had tons of dining and lodging information. We were offered the free candy but we already had a bunch of junk food. Lots of souvineers for purchase there too, books, glassware and free pamphlets.

I came here to pick up some information about Yosemite National Park. The place was consistently busy with people coming in and out for information. There was only one lady working the counter, but she was quite knowledgeable about Mariposa and Yosemite. She gave me lots of handouts about the park and everything else I’d need to know. She did a great job in juggling the people coming in for info along with the phone calls she received. This is a great place to come if you’re a visitor and need to know current road conditions for Yosemite (since we came in winter).
