Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt

They have been closed for a week or so now… likely out of business :(

Admittedly, even though I’m rating this place two stars, I still frequent this place all the time. Here’s the breakdown:
There are ALWAYS at least two flavors that are not working — and it’s never the lame flavors. I’m not sure why, but they just can’t keep it together here. I went in tonight and there were 4 flavors out of commission — including the sorbet that I was hoping to take home.
The good part — I frequently change diets, one week I’m pro-​dairy, the next week I won’t touch anything that even sounds like lactose with a ten foot pole. For this reason, I love that they have a soy option, a sorbet option, and a no-​sugar-​added option to boot… when they’re actually working, that is.
It’s kind of lame that the no-​sugar-​added flavor never rotates — it’s always «Splenda Strawberry,» but at least they have it.
Let me put it this way… it’s the closest fro-​yo place to my house, I have a mad sweet tooth, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a Tutti Frutti frequent customer punch-​card.

My wife would come here for plain frozen yogurt, and then after seeing the colorful cotton candy ice cream, I had to get it! It tasted like it was made from the Paste that might gather on a coal miner’s Taint in August. Skip it.

Nothing wrong with this place… average frozen yogurt… average toppings… average price.

I am surprised at all the bad reviews about this place. I had my first experience here tonight and really liked my yogurt. My friend and I took a seat on their little seating area for about 20 minutes enjoying our sweet treat. The only thing I would complain about was the radio station that was going in and out of reception. Definitely cheaper than pink berries, and since I’m not of fan of said place. it’s definitely tastier.
Although I admit that some of the staff seemed a bit indifferent, I don’t understand what all the fuss is all about. It’s pretty much self serve and other than the employees taking your money and maintaining cleanliness, I don’t understand what more they are expected to do. But then again, I guess I don’t go searching for friends wherever I go.

So much better than the other options around the Marina Del Ray/​Westchester area. The flavors are always good (especially Peanut Butter) and they are relaxed about letting you try them. There are also loads of topping choices and I especially like the nutty bars (childhood flashback to little debbies).
We tend to go at night, and they normally have the yogurt even cheaper at a certain time (I’m pretty sure its lie $.38 an ounce?). There has only been one time when parking in the lot was hard to find and we just circled back in.

Ok, so some of the reviewers have a point. The staff can come off as a bit uninterested or standoffish. But I go in all the time and they have yet to be rude or inappropriate. They are laid back, and honestly they do what they need to do. I mean, I can serve my own yogurt!
As for the flavors, they change regularly. Some are terrific. Like the PB but nothing like the Yogurt Shoppe in Pacific Palisades. Cookies & Cream is pretty great, Death by Chocolate not so much. too artificial I think. Some of the others not so much. Just can’t get into Soy yogurt. But they have some really good flavors that come and go. Almond, Candy Malted Easter Egg, Birthday Cake, in order of preference.
It’s never too crowded, which may say something, but I always see people in there. Gets really crowded when it’s hot or on weekends.
This is my go-​to around the corner yogurt spot, and while it is not like my favorite Shoppe, it rivals or beats pretty much all the other places I’ve been.
Plus, the yogurt is very reasonably priced. And they offer nice discounts like 10% after 6pm or something like 20% if it is raining. And frequent buyer punch cards; just ask for one.

I can’t help but compare this to Yogurtland. Unfortunately, this is the closest fro-​yo place near my apt.
The only positives I can give about this place is that parking is easy and almond slivers are available as a topping.
The yogurt is too icy and doesn’t taste smooth at all. The flavors are too sweet. I usually get the original tart flavor and the taro flavor.

Came once to use their wifi as I ate my fro-​yo and no such luck. The staff was rude, but then again I cant expect much from teenagers working at a place like this. (I know I used to work at Jamba). However a plus for being offered a free fro-​yo for my complaint yet sadly I don’t want to claim it.
The plain tart tasted weird. Chalky you could say. The fruit toppings weren’t too fresh and tasted warm. Back to yogurtland I go.

So after having my stomach set on fire across the street eating Indian food, I decided I needed to cool it down with some frozen yogurt. This place was your standard self serve frozen yogurt shop. They had a lot of good flavors including birthday cake which I thoroughly enjoyed. What sucks is that they have free wifi so it’s hard to find a seat because you have a bunch of lurches just sitting around who probably spent under 1 $ on a cup of yogurt if that, so they could sit around in their pj’s and use the free wifi. Seriously people, just go sit outside and steal it from there, paying customers want to sit down and enjoy their fro-​yo.

It seems like there’s rarely anyone munching on froyo inside this Tutti Fruitti. There’s no conspiracy, it’s just not the best.
I don’t have a problem with the froyo, it actually tastes pretty decent. There is a good selection of flavors, my favorite being cappuccino. None of the others really stick out of me, all are pretty standard. What I’ve noticed in the few times I’ve gone to Tutti is the super icy texture of the yogurt. This is a good thing if you’re getting it to go and it has time to melt a bit, but if you’re eating it there it’s not as soft as typical froyo should be.
Their toppings are always a disappointment. Everything just looks like it had been sitting there all night and it’s always a sloppy presentation. Not appetizing at all. I usually stick to the mochi and nuts that they have, but again there’s not a lot to choose from.
This location does offer free wifi which is probably the only thing it has going for them.

This place is awesome. Delicious. and a few cents cheaper per ounce than Yogurtland. They always have great flavors. and even have a board where you can vote for the flavors you’d like to see next.
The toppings are always fresh. They have plenty of fruit, candies, and chocolate cookie sticks! My favorite is death by chocolate with strawberries in it… tastes just like chocolate covered strawberries.
It looks like a Yogurtland inside, but I like this place better. The staff is nice, the location is really cute and it’s a fun place to have a nice dessert.

Pretty good but I didn’t like all the froyo flavors. They had mainly sweet stuff and I wanted more tart-​based flavors because it was hot outside. Really — it’s a totally typical self-​serve yogurt place with all the expected toppings. I went because it was convenient to me, but I wouldn’t drive all the way over here. Especially since the parking is kind of tough to get to and it’s really loud in there because of its proximity to Lincoln. But I do appreciate that they are there and hope they are successful.

I wasn’t too excited about the flavor options on my visit, but the no sugar added vanilla was actually much better than you’d think. Toppings were on the interesting side. I liked the rainbow jelly and the thoughtful additions of «healthy» stuff (like flax seeds), but there could have been more fresh fruit available. The place was clean and the cashier was nice. This is within walking distance of my bf’s place, so I see many visits in the future.

I like this Tutti Frutti. They are always consistent. They’re right next to Alejo’s and The Coffee Bean.
Parking is in the back, not on lincoln. Although, there’s a front and back entrance. The design is cute. And there’s a small section for little kids. Complete with tiny tables and chairs.
Another thing, they have a waffle maker in the store, so you can have thin crispy waffles in your yogurt.
I did go there once, it was late. They ran out of cheesecake as well as nuts. And they didn’t refill it.

The pay for 10 get one free has been discontinued and the marshmallow crème is watered down… I am not amused by this!
The yogurt seems to have become sweeter than my last visit. I’ll take a star off for that. Still, this place is light years ahead of that horrifically bland and boring pink place!

Taste-​wise, Tutti Frutti’s frozen yogurt was okay. Some reviews state that the frozen yogurt is a little icy and I can see that (though my frozen yogurt palate is not that refined). I got a little bit of a brain freeze here.
They have a good toppings bar including some cereals I haven’t seen elsewhere like Cocoa Puffs. The place was clean (one of the cleaner ones I’ve been to) and service was good and friendly. They have a loyalty card (like Menchies) where you can earn free frozen yogurt after so many visits. Pinkberry is doing that now too.
One of the negatives here is the price. It is $ 0.39 per ounce, which is $ 0.09 an ounce more expensive than Yogurtland. It is even $ 0.06 per ounce more expensive than nearby Yogolicious (and the quality is about the same). I did like this Tutti Frutti more than the one I visited in a Sherman Oaks mall (more variety of both flavors and toppings) so if you are a Tutti Frutti fan and are in the area, you may want to give it a shot.
Parking is free in the lot that supports this small shopping plaza.

There need to be half stars! I’d add 0.5 stars to them since my last few visits (still not quite YogurtLand territory yet).
I noticed in my last visit that the yogurt tasted better and that it had some new stuff going on (i.e. Tutti Frutti water, little play area for kids, a ginormous cup size option, etc.). I went back today and it looked even cleaner and nicer than before. I found out it’s under new ownership which explains the differences in aesthetics and in the yogurt. The froyo texture is definitely better now (before it was a little icey — now it has a nice smoothness to it). The tart yogurt is much better too. Glad to see the new owners sprucing up the place and adding some cool things to differentiate itself from the other places (kudos on the play area and the cool projecting cartoons on the wall thing — seems to be working bc that area always seems to full of kids/​parents).
Just two things — why take away the loyalty card? And let’s get some pistachio and lychee rotated in please! Other than that thumbs up to the new owners!

I’m a fan of self-​serve yogurt places with lots of flavor choices. Just one major problem with this Tutti Frutti: the yogurt is terrible.
Somehow, they have found a way to have the yogurt runny AND icy at the same time. Plus it is way too sweet. Seriously, is yogurt from a machine that difficult? Guess so.
We’ve tried this place 3 times and unfortunately it actually got worse every time. Even with the happy hour option and coupons for «buy one, get one free», we’ve stopped going.
The truth is that the only reason it gets two stars instead of one is because I absolutely love pomegranate seeds. This last (and hopefully final) time I went, my «filler-​up-​cup» was half full of pomegranate instead of yogurt. Why not get what I like, right… :)
Who cares if parking is easy and it’s convenient? My recommendation: drive a little farther and get some yogurt that tastes better.
