The foundation of the Paddle Method program is a relaxed, efficient paddle stroke that builds your core muscles with a whole body workout. No matter your skill level — beginner or advanced racer — Paddle Method has a program that will help you achieve the essence of Hei Matu.
Paddle Method Instruction focuses on three core areas of SUP — Lessons, Workouts and Excursions and is for anyone who can swim, but may have little water experience, and for those who have a lot of hours on the water but want to train more effectively and build their skill set so they can paddle in all types of environments found in Socal.
Paddle Method allows for the natural learning curve of each paddler while providing the opportunity to push your limits one step at a time until strength, skill and confidence develops at your natural pace.
History
Established in 2012.
Paddle Method began as an extension to the typical «intro» lesson that is the usual base line for most new paddlers.
The idea of using the Paddle as the means with which to propel the paddler through wind and waves taking the paddler wherever they want to go – on ocean, lake, bay or river — while building strength and confidence at the same time is the at the core of why Paddle Method was created.
Paddle Method provides a SUP instructional, touring and community center for any paddler who wants to get started in SUP for the first time, hone their technique or paddle in the ocean for the first time.
From beginner lessons to advanced workouts, race training, group tours and adventure expeditions, Paddle Method provides natural, progressive steps for paddlers allowing for the natural pace of the learners curve while pushing them to places they never thought they would see and all from a SUP point of view!

Tim jumped onto a stand up paddleboard, like most people, feet first, after «seeing someone walk on water». As his skill level increased — so did his overall fitness, his confidence and passion for the sport. He made a commitment that he would find a way to help others not just learn the mechanics of Stand Up Paddleboarding but to use it as a way to improve core fitness and overall well being.
In 2011 Tim partnered with Mike Vaughan and started Pro SUP Shop to bring SUP to the people of LA. And in 2012 Tim decided to take SUP to the next level by launching Paddle Method as an extension of his work with Mike and Pro SUP Shop Paddle Method embodies the ancient Maori concept of Hei — Matu, (strength, serenity and safe passage over water), and uses the basic paddle stroke as the foundation for the ultimate water based full body workout.
