Only the best BBQ ever!

History

Established in 2004.

Sam Huff was a full time trial attorney of 35 years experience when he took over BBQ1 in East Cobb from a friend in 2004 just to have an excuse to get out of yard work at home. He had been competing in professional cooking competitions with his own team since 1999, Lost Mountain BBQ. Co. He transferred the same competition cooking techniques to the small take-out operation and it resulted in an exceptionally high level of quality of «cue.Soon, the tiny spot expanded to full time, then a second restaurant, and recently, a 75 seat expansion to a full service restaurant at the original location. No longer practicing law, Sam now teaches BBQ cooking classes,(Pork U), runs the restaurant, and still travels around the country with his competition team. Sam’s BBQ1 was listed in Zagat’s 2010 issue of Best Restaurants in America.

Meet the Business Owner

Sam H.

Business Owner

Sam served Cobb County as an Assistant District Attorney from 1973 to 1976 and has been in the full time practice of law ever since, but his passion has always been cooking and, for the last 30 years, cooking barbecue. He began competing in professional, sanctioned BBQ cooking competitions in 1999 and has cooked in Memphis in May, The American Royal Invitational in Kansas City, and many others throughout the Southeast. He opened BBQ1 in 2004 and expanded it to a full service dine in restaurant in 2010. The restaurant is generally rated at the top of every «Best Of…» list. Sam catered luncheon for the U.S.Senate a few years ago and is scheduled to return to Washington to do so again on June 10. Sam will appear at the Taste of Marietta on April 25 where he will be giving cooking demonstrations on the Scana Energy Cooking Stage. Sam also teaches BBQ cooking classes at his Pork University, aka Pork U.
