Los Agaves Mexican Restaurant

Awful all I can say about this place is awful it took forever to get any service. I went there with two other men they brought us a small basket of chips and a very small bottle of salsa. The salsa was something they opened up a jar to get and then blended a little had no cilantro in it whatsoever. One of the guys I went with one of the The cheese stuffed I don’t know what they’re called but he asked the guy to make certain he was getting that and that’s not what they brought out. He also asked for corn tortillas they brought him flower. I ordered the beef fajitas they had no flavor at all. I wondered where they had no business on a Saturday night now I know. The food is terrible don’t waste your money or your time.

The food was not terrible, but it was well below average for Mexican. The ‘steak tips’ burrito tasted like the meat had been cooked a while before and kept warm. It seemed to have bell peppers (not chiles) and onions mixed in, yet had no real flavor at all. Most telling is my comment once we got into the car to leave «that was the least inspired Mexican food I’ve ever eaten».
It’s a shame because the Margarita was very good, and service was not bad. I would suggest a complete change in the way they prepare anything containing ‘steak tips’.

So I like many others thought this was a place that had sparkling reviews (Los Bravos). First off, and I realize this was not the restaurants doing, but the very small crowd was really pervy. I should have left and moved on, but I was hoping it was just because it was an off night. The salsa was bland and when I asked for a spicy salsa they handed me Chalula. All I ordered was a soda and bean taco which came to around $ 8.00, and everything else seemed rather over priced as well. I will say, the syrup to carbonation for the soda was spot on. So many places can get this wrong, but they did have that going for them.
Overall though, the staff just seemed like this was all of their first serving jobs. The place has a lot of potential, ample parking, nice little patio, nice bar area, large restrooms, it was just lacking. Please amp it up! I would love to be able to support a local business instead of the Taco Bell in the same parking lot. :-)

A group of us decided to go and enjoy some apps and margaritas. The service was slow. We were rarely checked on. We wanted coffee but they had no milk/​cream and made no efforts to obtain any. The food was so-​so. We had a complicated bill as we were all pitching in for our share, some with cash, some with cards. After the waiter decided what his tip would be he took the cash and then asked for more money to cover the tab. That wasn’t the worse part. He did this after chasing my friend out to her car and knocking on her car window demanding more money. Ummm… I’m pretty darn sure none of us will be going back.

It was a comedy errors for my coworkers and me at Los Agaves. We came for a Friday lunch. For many of us, this was our first time visiting Los Agaves since it changed hands from Los Bravos in 2011. If you’ve seen my previous reviews, you know I’m a fan of Los Bravos.
Los Agaves looks almost the same as when it was Los Bravos. They may have added a few more decorations and upgraded the TVs, but that’s about it. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is casual. To our dismay, the food and service was not the same. It was worse.
Menu selection is still decent. In fact, it looks like they serve everything Los Bravos served. The specials are even titled «Bravo’s Plates.» Menu items include queso dip, salsas, quesadillas, fajitas, and various specials like taco salads, taquitos, and chimichangas. Most items on the lunch menu are under $ 7 each so it’s a good value.
The servers were polite and friendly, but it didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing, particularly our primary server (it may have been her first day or week on the job). We had a party of eight. Our server took our drink orders when we sat down, but we never got any menus. After we got our drinks, we had to ask for menus.
I ordered a «Special Lunch A» (one taco, one burrito, and Spanish rice for $ 6.25). The server asked me if I wanted chicken or beef. I opted for beef. You have the option between chicken or beef for a lot of the menu items.
After ordering, we had to wait quite a while for our food to be brought out. The restaurant was busy, but it wasn’t *that* busy. If we were at just about any other Mexican restaurant, we probably would have had our orders already. We snacked on chips and salsa in the meantime. As our hands got messy, we realized no napkins had been brought to our table, so we had to request napkins.
The Special Lunch A’s came out first. They were both missing tacos. One of my coworkers, who also ordered a Special Lunch A, ordered his with chicken and a soft (instead of hard) taco. When the plates were placed in front of us, we couldn’t tell what kind of meats were inside the burritos without cutting them open. The server had admittedly forgotten who ordered what. We couldn’t cut open the burritos because we didn’t have any silverware. We flagged the server down and asked for silverware (notice a trend here?).
It turned out both burritos had beef in them. My coworker went ahead and ate his even though it was the wrong order. That wasn’t the only chicken/​beef mix-​up. Another coworker had ordered a taco salad with chicken. He got a taco salad with ground beef instead. Again, he ate it even though it was the wrong order.
Two of my coworkers ordered the lunch fajitas (smaller size portions of the dinner fajitas). All of the ingredients came out (lettuce, tomato, sour cream, meat, onions, etc.) except for the all-​important tortillas. So they had to request the tortillas, which the kitchen apparently forgot. The tortillas had to be heated, which meant my coworkers had to wait and watch their plates get cold.
One of my coworkers had a chile relleno with his lunch. It looked so small and measly that he actually brought it to the attention of one of the managers. She said it looked fine. Some at the table thought the chips tasted funny as well as the water. One described the water as tasting like plastic. Another decided to order a soda because the water tasted too weird.
Oh yeah, almost forgot: the missing tacos for the Special Lunch A’s. We finally got them after another server noticed we were missing them. We had eaten through ¾ of our plates by the time they arrived. Two hard tacos were served — one of them was supposed to be soft. As for Special Lunch A itself, it was mediocre. The outer layer of cheese on the burrito had gotten cold and hard. My taco’s tortilla shell was deformed. One side of the shell was half as tall as the other.
Like I said, comedy of errors.
At least the checks worked out fine. Eight separate checks for each of us, which was nice.
Based on my experience above, I would give this place 1 star, but I do think the staff made a genuine effort. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and 2 stars.

The food is good the service is slow. Your average Mexican restaurant experience.

Last minute choice for dinner for a Thursday night. Not busy at all. Kinda enjoyed the quiteness, but quickly found out why it was so desolate. The food was below par and not very appetizing. I ordered a combination item with a taco and chapula. The hard shell taco was stale and the chapula well it was soggy. The enchilada pretty much had a red sauce from the can poured on it. I’m big on tex-​mex, but will be crossing this one off my list to visit again.

Well the whole experience started off bad. We went looking for a Los Bravos that was supposed to be in that shopping center. Couldn’t find it so we took a chance on Los Agaves.
To start the chips were a bit greasy, not warm or salted. The salsa was bland. I ordered unsweet tea and looked for a non sugar sweetener of any kind of the table and there was none. So I asked our server and she replied that no we don’t have any.
I ordered Enchiladas Rancheras and my compadre ordered one of the many combination plates. Well as it turned out it was marginal to poor.
Don’t waste your time or money, head on down to La Parilla for some tasty grub for the same price as the lame attempt at Mexican food perpetrated by Los Agave.

This place is your average, run of the mill Mexican joint. You can get the same experience anywhere.
The one thing that you should try is their Chicken Soup. It’s crazy good. Very fresh, tangy, delicious and hearty. It’s also pretty healthy considering your other options.
Get it to go and they include a big bag of chips and salsa for about $ 6. Can’t beat that!

To call the food served here «Mexican» is an insult to one of the world’s best cuisines. If you like your tortillas flour and your cheese a processed food product, then you’ll love this place. The fish taco is best avoided; the tilapia tasted of dirt and the copious amount of mayonnaise did not help. My wife had a quesadilla oozing liquid cheese and was barely palatable. In all of the dishes we sampled, the dominant flavor was salt and fat, not one was seasoned. But the food isn’t the only problem, hygiene does not seem to be a top priority here as two of our party were sickened.

I was scared, felt naked without consulting my Unilocal app before walking into anywhere. I soldiered on… straight through the double doors into the neon lights I strode with a look of false confidence. I was greeted with a smile and a cozy Booth seat. First things first, check in on Unilocal,done. Waiter takes my order, 1 soft taco with shreaded chicken, one soft taco with steak, looking to my right, as if by magic, chips appeared out of thin air, I added jalapeño cheese dip and guacamole to the order. The rest is history.
I judge a Mexican restaurant on three things. Quality of chips, guacamole, and salsa. Thin crispy chips, fresh vibrant guacamole, and spicy salsa were all excellent. Now the Queso dip was an added guilty pleasure that so completed the meal! The steak soft taco and chicken soft taco arrived in a tin foil wrapper piping hot. I added the guacamole, cheese dip, and sour cream for a fiesta going on in my mouth.
Go to Los agaves! You will notice your wallet is still heavy when you leave and your tummy will be tight! Great food and for the price, unbeatable.
