I accompanied my friend to the Carrick Brain Center this October. They were hosting doctors and students from all over the world and I could tell from the moment we walked into the clinic that it was going to be a crazy week. The waiting room was completely full of patients and their families. We soon found out the majority of them were from out of state like us and also from other countries as well. Some of the patients were in wheel chairs and had some very obvious neurological challenges while others looked«normal» but as was the case of my friend, were highly functional but struggling with their condition. The first day we did diagnostics. It took over 3 hours and even for me, it was exhausting. My friend went through test after test, and we were told that they would help the doctors diagnose my friend’s condition at our consultation the next day. On day 2, my friend saw Dr. Carrick. What a personality! He swept into the room and the next hour went by like a blur. He has terrific bedside manner and had us laughing most of the visit. He had a team of doctors and students with him so we had a crowded room, but the way Dr. Carrick talks with you, it felt like it was just us. He asked A LOT of questions, then went through the tests we did the previous day and examined my friend. 99% of what he did and explained was way over my head… but he explained it all to my friend in a way that made us both feel confident that he could help her. Our treatment started the same day and we were assigned to Dr. Lene, Dr. Joseph, and Dr. Brice. We spent the most time with Dr. Lene who is from Europe and she was just as sweet as could be. She understood that the entire experience was very overwhelming and made us both feel at ease and comfortable at all times. She took us through the multiple treatments each day. Our entire team of doctors was so caring and attentive. They always took time to check in with my friend to see how she was doing and when she was feeling rough, gave her time to take a break or go for a short walk. At the end of the few days we were there, we had an exit visit with Dr. Carrick. Not only was my friend already feeling much better, they re-tested her all over again and Dr. Carrick was able to show us all the positive changes in her brain function already! They sent us home with home exercises for her to do. Even though our time at the clinic seemed to fly by like a blur, we were very sad to say goodbye to our team of docs and the wonderful staff. We’d even gotten to know some of the other patients and celebrated their progress together. They really made an overwhelming and sometimes intimidating experience into a much easier one. I would highly recommend the Carrick Brain Center to anyone who has had a brain injury or any type of neurological condition. They have really talented doctors there and a caring staff! Thank you for taking care of my friend!

Pros: –Helped me gain some recovery after a TBI that upended my life. –Some of the staff and visiting doctors are the best. Cons: –Never returned a phone call though I was told I would be called back shortly. –Overpriced(though maybe they have changed, wouldn’t return phone call): Having everyone at a flat rate isn’t fair to some who get so much less treatment and hands on work than others. –Wait time: Even when Dr. Carrick was out of town, friends told me they would wait for hours though they weren’t busy. –Games: Who wants to pay a nonrefundable deposit for an appointment to a doctor’s office? –Would not tell me which doctor I was going to see though I requested a specific one and asked to know who I would be seeing. –Dr. Carrick was rude and mean to me in front of a large staff. This facility has great potential but they could use a course in professionalism &/business skills.
