Canvas By U!

Wow, this place was great! One of my junior league friends found a class here and I signed up with some friends. It is so nice that you can bring your own food and drinks and they do a great job of making sure you get to sit by your friends. Everyone has a great view of the instructor and while at first I thought she was going really quickly, I realized that some people followed along just as quickly but at the same time, she had enough breaks so the slower people (me) could catch up. At the end she stuck around and if someone wasn’t 100% happy with their painting, she was happy to help if they wanted it. I thought this was excellent and the service I received at this class was beyond the ones I had at the brookhaven class I took once (not to mention, there was more space here!). What a great place for East Cobb and I hope to come back again soon!

We have not yet been to our session, and will write another review once we have, but wanted to comment on how wonderful their customer service is. My husband purchase me a gift certificate to canvas buy you for Christmas. We had trouble using it online, so I called and left a message which was returned promptly. Stacy return my call and was very polite and kind. She helped me and got everything squared away without any trouble. My husband then got sick on the day of our appointment, and we were able to cancel without any penalty. We received an email with a new gift certificate within minutes of my phone call, she did not have for me at all, and was very polite the entire time. She even wished my husband well in the email. Every interaction I have half with canvas by you in Marietta has been a positive one. I am greatly looking forward to my session, and have no doubt it will be a wonderful experience.

Tons of fun! Makes for a relaxing girls night that gets even more fun with a few bottles of wine (byob).

What a WONDERFUL time I had last night painting with Canvas by U at Eclipse Di Luna. The Winter Bridge is a gorgeous painting. The instructor Stacy was extremely helpful, patient and lots of fun. What a great activity for a girls night out, date night or family night! Looking forward to going back again in the near future!

I would recommend anyone to go to one of the painting classes being given by canvas by you. I have gone to several at different restaurants around town and they are a great night out with friends. Stacy, the owner is professional and she makes it so much fun. I had my last birthday at her store with 15 of my friends and she made sure everyone enjoyed themselves. she goes above and beyond in insuring the time is memorable.

The St. Lucia Association of Georgia had a painting session at Le Gomier Events Hall in Lawrenceville, we had a fantastic time. 9 out of the the 10 people painted for the first time, including two children 6 and 10 years old. A comment by someone who saw the pictures said «This teacher must be very good to get everyone painting like that for the first time» and yes, Stacy our instructor was great.
It is nice that they can come out and do events if you have enough people to support it, this personal touch makes Canvas By U the company I will always use for future events.
I highly recommend everyone try it as least once, even if you are a little sceptical, you will feel complished, elated and proud, once you see the master piece you have created.
Thanks Stacy and Canvas By U for a wonderful painting session, we all thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be doing it again.

I’m addicted! What a great time. My friend and I decided to try something new… painting. We did the Monday night class at Eclipse, which apparently they do every week.
I must admit that I was nervous. I can’t draw worth a darn and was very skeptical that my painting would turn out. I was pleasantly surprised. The instructor literally walks you through the painting step by step. She was so nice and laid back. We never felt rushed. I still can’t believe how awesome my painting looks!
The venue itself was very nice. We had a few drinks, ate and painted. (They had some great specials for us too.) Looking at their website, I see they also have a studio where you can bring your own food and drinks. I am looking forward to checking it out this weekend — they have nice painting on the calendar for spring/​Easter.
If you are looking for something different and affordable, you must try a Canvas By U class! You will not be disappointed.

We painted for 2.5 hours. It really is something I highly recommend! And you get to take something home.
It’s fun, it’s relaxing, it’s personal, it’s a test of patience, there isn’t much time to enjoy wine.
This place is not very big, perhaps 20 people — maybe.
Go with the flow — a great idea for a date night — certain personality traits will be exposed :)

Canvas by U! Is awesome. Just found out that they have CBU2go the new mobile. My mom and friend came with me when they were visiting. Love it. Julie and Heather are great. You don’t have to be an artist. It’s just fun. You can freestyle or follow the instructor. Must do when Atlanta. If you can t get to East Cobb… paint at the restaurant partners in Buckhead or Dunwoody. I did last week.

FUN FUN FUN with a capital F!!! I went yesterday with my Aunt and BFF, and this was the most AMAZING experience! We had tons of paint, and lots of help from instructors. I found this place relaxing, the teachers were super cool, and each of our paintings reflected our own personality! It was cheap-​$ 35 bucks, and you take home a masterpiece! Decorate your home with your own artwork, while spending quality time with the girls or maybe your dude~if the artwork isn’t too feminine that day! I cant WAIT until I go back, Highly addictive! I went to the N. Druid Hills location of Briarcliff. The BYOB is the icing on the cupcake! They have cups, saucers, and wine openers for you as well, Just bring yourself, your fam, and your impeccable imagination. CBU– N. Druid Hills is a great place to take your girls, guy, or family to have tons of fun, at an inexpensive cost! Absolutely LOVED IT!!!

All i can say is WOW! If you want a great night out to relax, sip on some wine and go home with a work of art, Canvas By U is it! I had no idea that I had an ounce of artistic talent but have now seen the light! Incredibly affordable and priceless experience! My faves are Julie and Robin! CHECK IT OUT!!!

Canvas By U is an absolute blast and very affordable with the way the economy is these days. Where else can you have a girls night out or date night with the love of your life and find the inner artist in yourself, create your own master piece and then take it home. I have painted at Canvas By U no less than 30 times and see the improvement with each master piece I have painted. I have had to retire some of my first paintings off my walls to hang up the new ones.
Thanks Stacy and your awesome group of artists for bringing such a wonderful concept to the Atlanta area and making it affordable for everyone.

I thought I loved Sips n Strokes, but CBU was so much more fun. The décor was artsy, the paintings are much better and the the teacher didn’t talk to us like we were children. I’m gonna have to revise my SNS review. This is my new fav

I was invited here last night for a coworker’s birthday and when she said it was at Sips N Strokes this whole image came to mind which was nothing like what this place actually is. you sip (wine) n you stroke (paint on a canvas). Ok then. you can’t knock the concept… they’ve got to be making a killing –you pay between 25 and 35 dollars to sit in a room with a ton of other people (women) they provide you with a plastic cup, the use of a corkscrew, 2 paintbrushes and 4 squirts per color of acrylic paint and a canvas. The teacher gets up front with a microphone and demonstrates in steps how to create the same painting she is painting. I don’t know. i had fun. but I don’t think I would necessarily go back here. The atmosphere sucked– a big room in an out of the way shopping mall, the instructors weren’t particularly friendly and were way too critical and were policing the paint like it was liquid crack. The instructor repeatedly would interrupt her teaching to stop a person from getting more paint insisting «I PROMISE… you REALLY won’t need the black very much… If everyone could limit it to no more than 4 squirts that would be grrreat.» WTF? C’mon lady! For me it just seemed overpriced for what you get. I was however thrilled with my masterpiece… even though I received several stares as I was the only one who chose not to do the requisite red dress painting and lots of disapproving looks from the paint patrol ladies. To sum it all up it was like an elementary school art class with a more uncomfortable stool, fewer supplies and no encouragement or gold stars for being creative. The music is what you would expect… think Cyndi Lauper etc. cuz «girls just wanna have fun» right? Pros: ample parking… it’s in a strip mall. Also, it’s BYOB. It you plan on bringing snacks– don’t bring many. There is one folding table that sits in front of the bathroom for everyone to put their food on; otherwise you can squeeze it in between you and your neighbor between your easels,

I’ve found my new obsession — art for the artistically challenged!!! I’m seriously the most terrible artist in the world, but my painting came out totally cute, due to the excellent instruction (and the wine)! I’ve already signed up for 3 more sessions.
It was really, really fun to do mostly what the instructor said (so it would look good), but also go off on my own a bit (to exercise a bit of creativity). I took my mom here for Mother’s Day, and she also had an excellent time. She’s signed up with me for another one as well.
You can bring any kind of drinks, food, etc. — but beware, you don’t get much room to put stuff (other than the floor), so I wouldn’t recommend bringing a giant picnic or anything. They even have corkscrews and cups, so you don’t have to bring your own — just bring the booze. (And I really think a little alcohol helped me relax and paint better.)
There was exactly 1 guy in a room of 60 people, so this is definitely more of a girls’ activity. But I love it! And to me, the price is totally reasonable ($ 25 – 45 per painting, depending on complexity, I think).
There’s a different painting taught every day, so I think there’s probably at least one painting a month that’ll tickle your fancy, unless you’re sad inside or something.

It’s tucked away in the back of a quiet shopping center = kinda hard to find but a ton of parking. You walk into a large room that looks something like a canvas itself… white walls with all sorts of doodles and signatures of the people who’ve been there before you. You’ll find mine near the bathroom. =)
I’ve been 2x now and had unique experiences each time. I’ve had two different instructors and both were very friendly and welcoming. Their personalities play a huge role in making this place a success.
This is a great way for people to try painting for the first time, some of the classes even offer a pre-​sketched canvas. It’s also fun for people with some experience though, as it’s very free form and originality is encouraged. The really experienced people out there may be a little bored by though (not a ton of brush options, no acrylics, etc). Also, I’m not sure if you’d really be able to build much knowledge as it’s not designed to be a progressive series or anything like that… I suppose it’s what you make it. It’s really cool to see how different each person’s piece turns out after listening to the same instructor!
It’s fun to do with friends but it’s ok when flying solo too! There haven’t been any dudes at either class I attended, so it might make for a somewhat uncomfortable date. It’s surprisingly relaxing, esp for those of us who play with systems and numbers all day — a great way to work the other side of your brain!

I went back to SNS with a group of friends on Friday evening. Had to take off a star though because I was not impressed with our instructor this time around. In my previous two SNS experiences, the instructors took their time and thoroughly explain what they wanted us to do before letting us touch our canvases with paint. This time around the instructor wanted us to paint it as she was actively instructing what to do which was quite problematic because her ability to convey in words what we were supposed to be doing sucked. Everyone in the class was frustrated, moaning and groaning. It was an abstract painting, so maybe it’s just hard to teach someone how to paint an abstract piece, I don’t know.
Also, throughout the class the instructor walked up and down the aisles to offer assistance. My friends and I were so frustrated with her instruction that we just kind of did out own thing. I guess the instructor didn’t like this because she made several comments to me about how I needed to change things. Umm, hello, I paid $ 35 for this class I am going to paint what I want to paint how I want to paint it. I just really didn’t appreciate her condescending remarks about what it should and shouldn’t look like. I made my own unique painting.
I know I will go back to SNS for sure but I just hope I don’t ever have this instructor again.

A co-​worker and I went to Sips n Strokes a few weeks ago and had a great experience. She had been before and really enjoyed it. This is a place for people to go who would like to learn how to paint your very own piece of art work and enjoy your favorite bottle of wine while learning, that’s right wine and painting! There is a different painting everyday of the week so you just go to their website and choose the day you want to go. And guys this is a great place to go if you are single and want to meet intelligent women and learn how to paint your own piece of art work. There was only me and another guy there and the rest of the 24 people in the classroom were women!
They supply everything you will need so all you need to bring is a friend and your favorite bottle of wine or adult beverage. The location is in East Cobb and is tucked away in a shopping center so you really have to be looking for it.

A couple of my coworkers and I decided to try this one night. The staff is friendly, the price is amazing and includes hours of instruction and all your supplies and you take home the painting after! We had such a great time! Casual environment and tons of fun.

I found this place through word of mouth. One of my friends was raving about a great girls night out that she had and I wanted to know more. I looked Sips N Strokes up online and found that they teach you how to make your own painting… and it’s BYOB.
So, I signed up and got some girlfriends to join me. We ended up painting the «Believe Cross» and while each of us painted the same picture, they all came out different and reflected out personalities. It was great.
Each day of the month features a different painting and the style of art varies as well. There are some really girly paintings as well as some landscape art. My instructor was Beverly and she was great. She made it really easy and FUN to paint, even for the people in the class who hadn’t painted since kindergarten.
Word is that they’ll be opening up a new location soon inside the perimeter.

I have never considered myself artistic in the least bit, but Sips-​n-​Strokes made it so simple for me to create my own beautiful work of art and bring it home when finished. I had a wonderful time letting my creative juices flow!
Each night they feature a different painting that everyone will replicate, so you can go to the website and choose which night you want to go on based on the painting being offered that night. As Allison Z. said below, they let you choose your own colors so that you can be a bit more creative with it. The staff is great, owner Stacy is so cute and helpful. She encourages you to be happy with your painting and not «over-​do it» to the point of getting stressed. This is not an art class, it is (according to Stacy) «art entertainment». You can take your favorite beverage and snacks which makes it a relaxed atmosphere.
I was definitely a beginner and I never felt out of place. I brought home a beautiful picture that my husband even loves!
Guys, don’t be scared to take your special girl here. You will win major brownie points for thinking outside the box and doing something creative together.
I highly recommend this place and am already planning my next visit. It’s great for 2 to 3 hours of affordable entertainment in which you actually get to take home the end product. I also think painting a picture for a friend or loved one would make a wonderful gift, definitely from the heart.

This place is fantastic! It’s little known in ATL, it’s new to the area having been a franchise from Alabama (Shill alert: I AM NOT ONE! I spent a lot of time talking to the owner on Saturday).
Sips n Strokes is a «paint-​your-​own-​painting» place; you can bring wine and snacks and spend 2 hours making your own work of art. They have a calendar on their site with the paintings that are scheduled each day, you register online (only $ 25 for the whole session) for one that sparks your interest and you’re all set.
Two girlfriends and myself wanted something different and productive to do on a Saturday, so we hiked it all the way from Midtown to Marietta (warning, this place is tucked away in a shopping center, about 45 mins from anywhere ITP) to make some art. When we arrived, Stacy (the owner) checked us in, gave us some brushes and palette and then we chose a seat. The canvases are all ready to go, you fill your pallette with paint and the instructor gets started. Our teacher, Genia, did a great job showing us how to paint a large flower. In addition to helping us create the shape and overall look of the painting, she taught us some techniques, like «sieppling.» Genia and Stacy walk around and help out throughout the session, and if you make a mistake (I accidentally dripped some blue on my red) they are eager to help.
After two bottles of champage, the three of us created works of art. Each was different in color, shape and size. The instructors give you the basics and you are free to use any color combos you’d like. Sips n Strokes is great for groups of girls (there was a bachelorette party there on Sat.), a date night, or any bonding outing. And, be on the lookout – owner Stacy wants to move closer into town ASAP!
