A&C Auto Care

They came recommended, and as we’ve all had the trouble of finding a good mechanic, I was hopeful I would avoid that headache when I moved out here.
Now, initially I was willing to chalk some of the problems up to communication difficulties. I know that wanting to get «that noise» fixed, etc. can be difficult.
But, there are some clear problems:
«we don’t listen to our answering machine»
«I know we did it, but I can’t do anything without a receipt»
(but isn’t it in your systems?)
I got a tune-​up ($ 200 labor to put the plugs into the Taurus (I guess the car is more difficult than I’m used to)) and asked to diagnose «that noise.» I’m not sure what took so long but in the end nothing was done about the noise.
Came back since (like I said above) they came well recommended to me.
This lead to the power steering pump being replaced, but the noise didn’t go away!!!
What are you going to do right? I guess the problem wasn’t the pump… That was last February, and since it was cold, the shop was closed several days, and I couldn’t lose the car any longer.
I gave up…
Now flash forward. I was just in today. I brought my diagnostic report from another shop saying the power steering pulley wasn’t properly aligned. New mechanic goes out with me, says there isn’t any way that it can be improperly aligned, and says «of course we can replace the pump if it is under warrantee» but since labor is only guaranteed for one month, the bottom line is that it will be cheaper for me to buy a new one and put it in myself than it will be for them to replace the one that they put in…
Just called, to confirm the pricing, and said «ok, well your new mechanic is great, maybe if he was there a year ago there wouldn’t be a problem, but he wasn’t and this is all really disappointing. I paid $ 650 to get something fixed and it wasn’t. You a nice guy, I wish you the best, but you’ve lost a customer.»
They are very nice, it really drives me nuts that they couldn’t be the mechanics I was looking for. I’m more than happy to overpay for work if it is good work, but I just can’t pay for nothing.

Amazing amazing experience. Why? Because the mechanics I found out were paid salary and not commission. This gave me their honest diagnostic and suggestion which was close to 1400 dollars less than the mechanic shop prior suggested to me. I highly recommend this mechanic shop and make sure to ask for Leo when you drop in! Apart from that prices can’t be any more lower. Atleast from my experience in the car repair world.

STAY AWAY FROM A & C! On 1÷19÷13 I took my car to A & C to get one of those «Best Deals in Town» deals. Let me tell you about my DEAL! Sure they did the work I paid for and they CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY CAR! A BETTER COMPANY HAD TO CLEAN UP THERE MESS!
I had a friend offer to replace 3 broken motor mounts on my car. When the mounts arrived he was no longer available to help me. So I looked online for the local repair shops located within a mile from my home. I liked the review for A & C. I gave them a call and was offered a GREAT DEAL to replace the mounts I had already purchased. I was thrilled! They did the work for $ 240.
A friend borrowed my car and informed me that the transmission mount was broken. Why didn’t A & C call me when they had the car? I would have gladly paid them to replace that mount as well while they were working on my car. When I saved a couple hundred to make the transmission mount repair, I called 4 repair shops on my street. A & C could not give me an amount for the repair or a return call. (¾/​13 I was calling for prices) I had to call them back and got we have to call you back. On 3÷9÷13, my husband said ok, today get the car fixed. So we went with the 3^rd shop we called. (Take in mind the first 3 are national companies and A & C is a small local business. Trying to support local buisnesses.) The national did a great job and even called me to let me know of another repair that was needed. They had to repair a sub-​frame bolt that was damaged and needed to be replaced. This bolt has to be removed to replace the motor mounts.
A & C crossed a sub-​frame mounting bolt and did not even put the bolt all the way in!
The company that did the work properly had to CLEAN-​UP the crappy work A & C did to my car. That explains why they never called me back. They new what they did and what it would take to fix it. I picked up my car from the national shop this morning at 8AM. So I paid $ 79 to repair the crossed bolt that had to be removed to replace the motor mounts. When I confronted Leo the manager he was very UNHELPFUL! He offered to repair the transmission mount for me for free or repair the bolt for free. HOW STUPID IS THAT! WHY would I let him repeat the repairs I just paid another company to do? I asked Leo to do the right thing and credit me the $ 79. Did he? NO! He just kept offering to repeat the repairs for free.
A &C NEVER AGAIN FOR ME!
