Since 1952, Margate Dairy Bar has been serving Margate City custards, frozen desserts, burgers, fries, and shakes. A stop at MDB is a family tradition!

Enjoy our «back to the future» classics of fifties architecture, combined with great food, frozen desserts, legendary customer service, and today’s modern technologies. We also offer water ices, ice cream, shakes, blasters, and frozen delights. We also offer 100%, dairy-​free, gluten-​free, and coconut milk ice cream!

Not only do we have the perfect summertime treat, we also offer hot dogs, burgers, pretzels, fries, and many other food options. In addition to our great treats and food, we also have entertainment like magicians and bands daily.

History

Established in 1952.

In 1952, the McCrae family opened the Margate Dairy Bar in a new structure that was considered «ultra-​modern» at the time. In 2008, the Claytons bought the property which included the adjoining restaurant next door. This set the stage for a glorious future to mirror the success of the past. This future was in the works when Hurricane Sandy struck Margate hard. Almost total destruction has slowed the re-​emergence of the Dairy Bar. We are back and look forward to serving you!

Business Owner

Chris Clayton bought MDB in 2003. We «cleaned the dirt off the diamond,» as Chris Clayton, the hands-​on owner/​operator, says today. He recognized it as the fifties icon it was, and began paying it the respect it deserved, with new equipment, expanded menus, more service areas, larger staff, and attractive expansion and renovations. We look forward to making wonderful memories with you and your family.
