Pine Hollow Lodging

My family stayed in one of their properties in July 2014 called Big Rock. It was my extended family, and we were there for a wedding, so between my elderly grandmother and the professional cupcake baker who were staying at the house, we had a lot of needs. Jason helped us find the right house for us within our budget. When we arrived the house was clean and mostly everything was in good working order. (The things that didn’t work or needed to be replaced, they were quick to communicate with us and fix them. I don’t think we ever got the phone working, but luckily one person in our group had reception.)
They manage several properties, but have a lot of knowledge about each individual house and that came in very handy.
It made me nervous to choose a place for my entire family to stay without being able to see it, but Jason didn’t lead me astray. I highly recommend using Pine Hollow Lodging if you’re staying in the area.
One tip– they WILL get back to you. Sometimes they’ll answer within minutes and other times it may take them days, but overall I found them to be good communicators.

We stayed at «Tucked Away» for 7 nights this July. We had a great experience. The house was clean, and very well equipped, We had no problems with the house. The upstairs master bedroom had a comfortable bed. The location is convenient, with paved access. We plan to return!

My friends and I stayed at the Fresh Ayre Lodge in February of 2014. The bedrooms were cozy and the common areas were plentiful (living room, kitchen, porch, hot tub, and a fire pit). I reserved the house with Jason over the phone, and he was very pleasant. A few feet of snow fell the night before our arrival and I was nervous about the conditions. However, Pine Hollow sent over an email with directions and much appreciated details about the road conditions.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning!

I could give a play by play of all that went wrong, but it is not worth it.
Things went wrong (I moved in and out of 3 houses in less than 24 hours), they tried to help, but ended up creating more stress during our vacation. While there, they did come by to check in and were available by phone (when the phone worked) and answered emails.
I emailed to follow up about the issue, but have yet to hear back. I also have yet to see a discount for all of the trouble we went through.
I am walking away from this rental very irritated and disappointed. I think the overall issue could have been avoided from the start. There has also been zero follow through to ensure I walked away feeling taken care of. They have made me feel like they have my money so they don’t want to deal with me anymore.
I regret not staying at the Roxbury Motel where other friends were staying. That place looked awesome and all of my friends had great things to say about it.

Update: Pine Hollow was super prompt in addressing my concerns below; refunding my deposit and part of the charge for the house to account for the inconvenience.

I had the same problem — nearly exactly — as Jennifer H. The property was beautiful, but the house was not particularly attractive, and had old guests’ garbage still lying about. That would not have prompted me to write this review, but we also discovered no hot water when we went to take showers in the morning (5 of us) before a wedding we were attending.
Despite repeated stipulations in the contract that we notify them immediately in the event of something not functioning (so they wouldn’t have to compensate us), there was no phone or internet service (another inconvenience in itself). We had to drive 20 minutes into town and use a pay phone in order to reach someone, who told us the breaker had likely flipped (it had), and claimed he’d get back to us, and never did. Then, even with the hot water heater working, we got about 45 seconds each of hot water.
As if this were not enough, I am still waiting for my deposit to be returned, nearly a month later. I’ll be asking for a full refund at this point.
Ugh.

Pine Hollow Lodging is terrific! I found them on the internet — Jason, one of the owners was amazing — being a city slicker I was afraid that we’d get marooned by the snow; he took time to talk to me for 30 minutes reassuring us that all would be great and it was! The cottage we stayed in was amazing, an artists retreat — we spent the evening in front of the fire, the bed was comfortable and we just truly relaxed in nature. Can’t wait to return!
