History

Established in 1986.

Precision Motor Werks opened in 1986 as a premier automotive machine shop performing engine machining and rebuilding. In 1994 we expanded into Dynanometer testing and added Racing Engines to our list of specialties. Expanding into auto repair early on and increasing the size of our team, we now have 3 full-​time outstanding technicians and 7 service bays. Our facility has expanded in segments and what was once Barnard Street Motors alongside Precision Motor Werks has solely become Precision Motor Werks. We replaced the engine dynanometer with two more service bays in order to maintain the increasing demand in service. We have constantly kept up with the ever-​changing technology of automobiles with regular schooling and investments in the latest equipment required for making the most accurate diagnosis and precise repairs.

I always found the quality of service very good and never felt that they overcharged. You do have to be proactive if you want them to use parts from the car manufacturer. They replaced the brake pads on my Volvo with an off brand and they squeaked like crazy; but to their credit, they replaced them for just the difference in price of the pads.

I’ve been taking my Altima and my wife’s Subaru Impreza here for close to two years. I have found them to do quality work for reasonable prices, not cheap, but you definitely get the service that you are paying for. For example for they use the more expensive synthetic motor oil in their standard service, which I thought a little upscale for our humdrum vehicles. Then I noticed how quiet the Altima engine had become. I have had them defer some service I proposed, based on their inspection, and have never suggested any add-​ons or markup work. A good place to go!

Brought my car here for a brake problem and was charged $ 35 for the owner to test drive my vehicle. What a rip off!!! The owner held my car keys hostage in a locked office until I paid the $ 35 too. You don’t see it here on Unilocal but others have said the same thing on other sites.

Been a few times with my previous car (VW Jetta) and my current car (BMW convertible). These guys are excellent, friendly, courteous, and better priced than any other BMW certified mechanics around. I’ve checked around for the mechanic’s hrly rates and these guys have the best for the quality of work. Won’t take my car anywhere else, certainly not back to the dealer!

These guys are really good, honest and fair. Unlike some car dealers in the area, Precision never tries to sell goods and services you don’t need. In the rare instance that the work wasn’t done right the first time, they took care of it.
I deducted one star since they don’t do inspections or alignments.

Very experienced crew of mechanics who have their roots in race cars. They understand and can deal with all the infuriating electronic crap in today’s vehicles. However, they are not prima donnas who are out to soak every job for whatever it’s worth. Just as important as experience and skill, I’ve always felt that I can trust them to do the right thing.
