Hip Baby Gear

My store visit this friday AM is amazing. The selection of adorable stuff & getting to see the strollers in person was amazing. A tall blonde saleswoman (I didn’t catch her name sadly) spent 30mins helping me with stroller options — super knowledgeable and enthusiastic. So thankful for her time and info. Happy to go back and support this business. She said I’d come at a good time because weekends can get crazy.

1.5 stars might be a better rating. 1.5 stars for a good deal on a City Select double stroller, which was shipped promptly to me. Much appreciated! However, no stars for the fact that two pieces of my order were apparently never shipped (a Boon Stem and Diono Buggy Buddy). I sent several messages to customer service via email and the store’s website. I also tried calling the store several times and never got a response, even though I called during store hours and left a message since the clerk was presumably occupied with a customer.
I try to avoid calling out a business on social media, but two months later I finally posted on Hip Baby Gear’s Facebook page, only to receive no response. I noticed today that my post was deleted.
The dollar amount of the items I’m missing is not high, but the fact remains that they weren’t shipped even though I paid for them. More importantly, I’ve received zero response from the store despite pursuing multiple methods of communication. To me, that’s the real customer service issue. At this point, I’d either like my items shipped immediately or a refund of the cost. Happy to provide my order information… if someone would just get in touch with me! Ugh.

We have been very happy with the service that we received at this store. We went into the store looking to buy a lightweight stroller. The staff was very helpful in showing us the options and different features. I really liked that they were informative without being pushy. They have a great selection of items — we will be back!

First time Mom and went in to buy a stroller, furniture and all the fixins. The staff stayed behind the desk playing on the computer and when we repeatedly asked her questions she barely answered and returned to her station. I felt like I was begging for help. We could have spent thousands but will take our business elsewhere where the staff can help us with our most basic questions. Should have zero stars!

Love this place. They have a great selection of really cool, high-​end gear. Plus the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

Great service. Nice rewards program. Easy to use web site. I ordered a stroller and accessories from Hip Baby Gear a few weeks ago and couldnt be happier. I even found an online coupon, got free shipping and didnt have to pay sales tax!!! I also like the fact that i am supporting a small business.
Babies R Us had a horrible selection of cheap products and even worse customer service.
I will definatley order from Hip Baby Gear again!!!

Fantastic store. As others have noted it isn’t overwhelming like BRU and has some great items. We were there to check out the Mountain Buggy strollers (hard to find in this area) and Mindy was extremely helpful. I felt terribly that we didn’t end up purchasing there but they only had the «designer» colors and I just didn’t like the options. The price of the stroller was the same as amazon so I don’t think they are particularly expensive, despite their Marblehead location.

Ok, so maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised. Rude salesperson? Marblehead? It’s practically redundant. But I like to support local businesses so rather than order my Tea Collection clothes online I figured I’d venture out to Hip Baby Gear. A very cute store. Very cute high end things. However the sullen 20-​something salesperson ruined what would have been a charming holiday shopping trip. Early this morning I was the only shopper in the store, trying to juggle two toddlers while trying to find a dress and leggings that match and were the same size, when I asked the said young salesperson for help finding a size and her response was a curt «What’s there is all we have» and went back to doing nothing behind the counter, never leaving her chair. I asked about wrapping or a box for the gift and was told that she could put some tissue in the store bag. Not exactly the great customer service I’d expect for paying so much money, next time I’ll just fork up the shipping and buy online.

I can’t say enough positive things about Hip Baby Gear. Babies R Us is VERY overwhelming, not Hip Baby Gear. It is warm, inviting and you’ll want to stay their for hours and check everything out.
I was deciding between two different strollers and Sarah was SUPER helpful and went above and beyond giving me details, pros/​cons, etc about each stroller. She wasn’t pushy towards one system or another — she let me make my own decision and just answered my questions.
While we did register a BRU, we also registered at Hip Baby Gear for so many of the unique and different items that BRU doesn’t carry. I can’t wait to shop their more!

Hip baby Gear has been a go to since I was pregnant with my first. They were great with our Phil and Teds Stroller!!! Now we have had our second and although we live abroad in Iceland, when I need something I look here first and have it shipped to my mom. Thank you for being a trustworthy business in town and for carrying wonderful products!

Hip Baby Gear is absolutely your number 1 local stop for high end, why would anyone buy something so expensive for a baby, baby gear. I don’t mean that in a bad way.
My wife is a self-​described stroller snob. Nothing available at Babies ‘R’ Us was good enough for her, as she has admitted to judging people with low end strollers. How ridiculous, I say, but extremely hormonal pregnant women who are morning sick through 28 weeks shouldn’t be trifled with (that’s your pro tip for the day).
Enter Hip Baby Gear. Went in here on a whim, and was looking at a Mountain Buggy Swift. It’s a smaller version of the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle. List price for this particular stroller is $ 449, or about $ 250 more than I’d ever agree to normally spend on a stroller. (See previous note about trifling with hormonal pregnant wives.) On the day that I was in there they were offering a $ 50 gift card on any Mountain Buggy stroller purchase. They also offered me a 10% discount on the display model, which looked pristine. Still I said no, while continuing to browse. Pointed out a few things we’d registered for and asked whether they were good. Was offered those items for free if I bought the stroller. By the time I left, I had the stroller, a Skiphop changing wallet, a $ 50 gift card, a $ 25 store credit from their rewards program, strap covers and a stroller bolster all for less than $ 400. But what was priceless was appeasing the previously mentioned pregnant wife, while maintaining my cheapskate tendencies.
In addition to strollers and stuff, they have some very nice diaper bags, tubs, feeding supplies, clothes and other cool baby gadgets. They also offer mommy groups and music classes and stuff.

My husband and I decided we wanted to get as few items as possible from Babies R Us and go on the independent store track as much as possible. We went to Hip Baby Gear for our first stop and we ended getting an 80% of our registry there! Sarah, at the Marblehead store, was such a delight and so helpful with us. She spent almost three hours with us explaining how each thing works, giving us advise and being just so helpful. The store has some very unique and high quality items. Sometimes we might spend a little more than expected but our baby girl deserves it.
We totally recommend the store and the personalized treatment. I didnt feel overwhelmed creating my registry with them!
