More than a mile of grassy shoreline is easily accessible at Gloster Bend Recreation Area on Lake Travis’ north shore. Most visitors to the 586-​acre recreation area come to use the boat ramp (check LCRA website for boat ramp status). The park itself is day-​use only.

Boaters on Lake Travis and other lakes are required to drain their boats after use to help prevent the spread of zebra mussels.

Day Use only. Picnic areas are available on a first-​come, first-​served basis. No reservations are required.

Prior written permission shall be obtained from LCRA for any organized group activity on LCRA land involving 20 or more individuals.

History

Established in 1941.

Original part of the 1841 land patent, the property since historical times had been the location of numerous small communities, hamlets, and towns in which farming, sheep, cattle and goats were a primary source of income for area residents. The land was acquired as part of the Lake Travis Project.
