Established in 2007.
Opened by master stylist Kim Hammer, Fringe is an Aveda concept salon servicing women and men with high-end services at a competitive price. The salon exclusively uses botanically based Aveda products, which are healthier for clients, service providers and the planet. Both in salon and within the larger community, Fringe is committed to running an environmentally sustainable business.
Located at 1874 Springfield Ave. in Maplewood, NJ, Fringe includes eight styling stations, three shampoo sinks, an office/laundry room, and an open space for reception and retail.

Kim H.
Business Owner
Kim has more than 20 years experience as a hairstylist, educator and visionary thinker. Trained in the Aveda brand philosophy and techniques, she brings a fresh perspective and boundless dedication to her business.
Kim’s career began in Detroit, MI with training in haircutting, color and extension work. After five years, she relocated to Chicago where she was appointed creative director of Curl Up and Dye, a large salon in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. At the same time she served as a freelance educator for Salon Systems, the Aveda brand distributor in Chicago.
In 2000, Kim began working as a senior stylist and educator for the Aveda /Estée Lauder company, primarily in SoHo, NYC. Kim’s work has been featured in both television and print. She has styled many celebrities, including Margaret Cho, P.J. Harvey and Natasha Lyonne.
In May 2007, she opened The Fringe Salon in Maplewood, NJ in order to expand her vision, serve the community and mentor other like-minded stylists.
