This restaurant feels like an upscale IHoP to me. Most all of the food is better, although I still prefer the pancakes at IHoP. The sausage, bacon, everything else here are better.

One concern, if it has salt, here it REALY has salt. Hash is a batch cooked on a salt lick, bacon also salty. Pancakes tend to be only so-so? Have been undercooked on a couple of trips. Oh then there was the time with the smoke alarm shattering our ears; 10% OFFTHETICKET… really! Done with this overpriced breakfast house.

Not too bad. Place is nice and clean. Service was great. Food was ok. It was fresh, but very pricy. I suppose if you want fresh and made from scratch food, you have to pay for it. I suppose for some people it’s worth paying the extra price for that, it doesn’t matter to me. My family and I tried this place for the first time and it was good. Food was tasty and fresh. I am sure we will be back.

Went for an early dinner, slightly above mediocre experience. Eggs Benedict should come with potatoes on the same plate/they didn’t, which is annoying. the steak and eggs looked plain on a plate as the pancakes came on a separate plate– just too many plates on the table for the toddler to grab at. Overall, food was really good, took longer than I would expect at such a slow time of day and prices reflect good food and service.

Very good food. A little pricy for what you get. I think the pancakes are amazing. We have never had bad service.

Meals are montrous! Too much waste! Eggs Benedict isn’t authentic(too much fat, not enough lemon…) Too few small meal selections for seniors(example: 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs/any style and a small amount of potatoes… what ever happened to that?).

Decent food, great service. Used a 10 for 20 dollars worth coupon that could only be used from 4−8pm(closing). Drove out about 30 – 40 minutes from my home to visit this place. I wish I could say it was worth it but I probably wouldn’t do it again unless there was some kind of other deal. Came in about 20 minutes before closing and my waitress was very nice and energetic. I was not rushed at all. I wanted sweet and savory so I ordered the dutch baby and the country fried steak. The meat came with eggs and a choice of side. I went with the potatoes. The dutch baby was pretty cool, never had anything like it before. Reminded me of an elephant ear from the fair. Potatoes were good, they were fried and crunchy. However, the country fried steak was too salty for me. The sauce that was slathered on top of it didn’t help so much either. Don’t let my opinion discourage you though, I would come back here maybe in the future to try their pancakes! They had plenty of tasty options topped with different fruits and all that.

I love eating here! Best restaurant in maple valley! They always have great service! Someone anonymously bought my whole entire meal once. It is a little pricy but the serving sizes are huge so me and my boyfriend always share, so it works out.

Great place to have breakfast. Slit of food items on the menu. Great tasting corn beef hash! Very friendly service and quick to be seated.

Service was much better this last time. We really enjoyed the food but I thought it was a bit pricy for what you get. Also the pancakes are on the small side but very good. I left feeling like I could have had a little more.

It’s quite a drive for us to get here, but on days that we are truly craving good pancake, we’ll make the drive. I love how we came upon this place too… there was one time that for some reason I was craving orange juice, and my husband found this on Unilocal with awesome reviews that we made the drive… yep, just for me to get orange juice. Glad we did because 1. Orange juice was AMAZING. Fresh squeezed, sweet, just the right amount of pulp… the kind that even though you know it’s not free refills, you’ll just order another one(or order the large and make it last for the whole meal, if you can ;)) 2. Pancakes. OH-EM-GEE. I can’t tell what’s different about OPH pancakes, but they are different in the most awesome way possible. Saying their pancakes are DELICIOUS does not do it justice. 3. Syrup! Not too sweet and has a unique taste to it – unique in a good way. I’d drive here for the orange juice and pancakes anytime. Oh, corned beef hash is pretty good, too. PS: On one of our visits, I tried the«Dutch Baby»(I think that’s the name if I recall correctly). It’s this big fluffy pancake infused with lemon. Looks pretty cool, but personally I am not a fan. Didn’t like the lemony taste. So for me… OPH = best orange juice, pancakes, and syrup EVER! :)

I know it’s a chain, but I love this place. The staff has always been amazing and the food is always good to great. Some highlights: + Corned Beef Hash + Eggs Benedict + Bacon(yeah, it’s delish) + Pancakes(light, fluffy, ermagerd… putting them on my face) + Decent coffee(shocker!) It’s a great place to meet up with family/friends for a weekend breakfast/brunch.

I am not a pancake fan. Fried batter just doesn’t work for me, HOWEVER, I will come here just to get pancakes. There’s something special about OPH’s pancakes. I can usually figure out ingredients in things that I love to eat and yet these have me stumped. I think it’s because they’re not super sweet(like IHOP) and almost have a sourdough tang to them. Either way, as a diabetic, I budget my carbs for the day/meal so I can eat these yummy pancakes. I’ve had the omelettes(try the mushroom omelette — DELISH and HUGE), corned beef hash and eggs, and pancakes, and have never walked away disappointed. The portions are HUGE(2 meals easily) and we always leave there stuffed for the day. They are fairly pricey and the service time is slow but you get what you pay for. Come in to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere where nobody is trying to rush you through your meal. Everything is made from scratch, even the corned beef hash. The coffee is always flowing and the cream is thick and heavy, just the way it should be. We don’t venture out for breakfast often but after our second trip, Hubby bought us the $ 10 coffee mugs with the intent of coming back much more often. Bring them back each time you come in and get free coffee. We drink enough coffee there that it paid for itself the first two visits after we bought them. When your breakfast is done, the’ll even take your mugs and rinse them out for your trip home.(Last time we were there, they had a different mug for sale and I think they’ve discontinued their free coffee promo unless you bring in your previously purchased mug) Don’t come here expecting to walk in and get a seat unless you’re there before 9AM. We refuse to wait a LONG time(more than 30 minutes) and we’ve never left to go somewhere else but we normally have to sit and wait for seating because they’re so stinkin’ busy. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend and enjoy.

The Original Pancake House is a surprising gem of a breakfast spot amongst a string of other more mediocre and cheaper options. The ambiance: It’s clean and friendly with a fireplace and furnishings that are comfortable for sitting and enjoying your meal. Although the waiting area could be more comfy, a mixture of friendly young families and elderly people alike make for a pleasant wait if you come during peak times. The staff: The staff is a fantastic group of young people who are positive and obviously try to make your visit top notch. They don’t succeed 100% of the time, but they do most of the time which is completely understandable given this is a breakfast stop and not the Ritz. The food: This is why you come here. The food is fresh, made from scratch, and most importantly, delicious. I love the Country Fried Steak with Poached Eggs or the Bacon Waffles are also an incredible choice. No matter what you order, it’s going to be good. The price: Since the food is so fresh and delicious, you’re not going to pay IHOP prices, but it’s totally fair and in my opinion worth it. If I wanted cheap I’d make breakfast at home. In conclusion, if you want good breakfast and friendly people, eat here.

Sooooo the power went out and instead of foraging for defrosting lunch meat I decided I’d rather eat pancakes. Husband reminded me that the LAST time(the first time) we went to «The Original» Pancake House I’d griped about something or other and said I wasn’t coming back. Since I couldn’t remember what I didn’t like, but I did remember that I like pancakes, we went back. We tried to go back. They weren’t busy. Waitress asked my husband what he wanted. He said he wasn’t quite ready to order. BIGMISTAKE!!! She brought us soft drinks. 30 minutes or so later I’m remembering this time exactly what I’m unhappy about which would be she’s never returned to take our order and I’m watching other tables that have arrived after us slurping down pancakes and I’ve been ready to leave for at least the past 15 minutes but I can’t even get her attention to say HEYCAN I PAYFORMYFRIGGIN’ DRINKSANDGO!!! Eventually she did walk by. Husband who is far more polite than I am politely got her attention and asked to pay for the pop. She blinked and said«Oh! I never took your order?» Um. no. If they were busy, I’d understand. The basic problem seems to be that they hire very young servers with limited experience and as far as I know limited supervision since I saw nobody over 20. I don’t even remember what I didn’t like the first time, although husband said the hash browns were lousy. I don’t know if I’d have liked it the second time since they never gave me any food and I’m not going back!

Great food clearly from scratch! Even the butter! Omlettes are terrific and the chocolate chip pancakes. A little pricier than most breakfast places, but worth it. Gets very crowded on weekends!

Can I just say that there should be one of these in EVERY city!!! I mean way to go guys! I’m proud to say that the first Original Pancake House, originated in my hometown. born and raised in Portland Oregon. :D And now, being a newly Washington resident, happy to see one of these literally in my town, down the street from my house. Yay! So what makes this pancake place better than other pancake places? Well… the pancakes. And the omelettes. And the bacon. And the coffee. Well pretty much everything. But those specifically in that order, as it came to my head, what stood out. Pancakes, fluffy!!! And moist. The two most important issues at hand when it comes to pancakes. Omelettes…not your normal omelette! It’s more like a puffed egg pastry(but all egg no flour) shaped like an omelette, halfmoonish, filled with whatever tasty fillings, sealed closed and served HOT. Just yum. Bacon, haha let’s face it bacon could be thin dry little bits of nothing, but if it’s bacon for gods sake it’s bacon. But furthermore. This bacon is THICK, really thick, and done to your liking. Mine? Extra crispy and a tad burnt, perfection. The place itself is big, the employees friendly as heck, very clean, and quick. Five stars all the way. A little taste of Portland here in Maple Valley. :)

Had 2 eggs over easy, with hashbrowns and buttermilk pancakes. I was told this place was good. I was skeptical. Most pancake places are so-so. Food here is not great. ITISPHENOMENAL! There is an actual chef and cooks in kitchen. Not just workers. Hashbrowns were great and not greasy as were the eggs. The pancakes! OMG! It was like biting into little fluffy buttermilk pillows of happiness.lol. As a chef, 100% recommend! Must try the pancakes. No place will ever beat them. Iasked waiter a question and instead of upselling he was honest and even made recommendation. Perfect! Gave him great tip. Great place. Can’t wait to go back.

Forgettable meal, and on the pricey side at $ 12 for 4 strips of bacon, 2 eggs, and 3 pancakes. Coffee was good(almost $ 3); total came to over $ 15 with tax. Excellent service and clean, attractive dining room– just not the kind of ‘homestyle’ diner I’m comfortable in. I wouldn’t refuse to come back here or anything, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for this place, either.
