History

Established in 1996.

We started in 1996 under a franchise system and quickly discovered that driver education was far more important that we first believed. We began improving, founded a state professional association, got involved with the legislative process and with the national Driving School Association of the Americas. Since then we have authored textbooks, magazine articles, had news reports conducted, and led the State in many driver education initiatives. We have trained over 50,000 drivers with the highest of customer satisfaction.

o Under Debbie’s leadership as a driving school owner, Minnesota has experienced a decline in the fatalities involving young drivers. In 1996 over 18% of fatalities involved drivers age 15 – 19, today in 2010 the percentage of fatalities involving these young drivers as dropped to 12%. This can be attributed to not only Debbie and Training Wheels who has impacted over 40,000 people personally, but also to the leadership in the driving school industry. Training Wheels was the first school in Minnesota to offer structured parent involvement and victim impact panels. They also were the first commercial school to utilize professional teaching tools such as textbooks and organized curriculum.
