Happy Tailz, Inc. provides service to individuals who like to travel for business or pleasure. Pets feel more comfortable and secure in their own home environment. We work closely with you to make sure each sitter follows your pet’s regular routine. We pride ourselves on giving your pet the same loving care you yourself would give and our greatest pleasure is having your pet as one of our newest friends.

While you are away, Happy Tailz, Inc. will give your home a lived-​in look. During our daily visits your newspapers and mail can be brought in and lights can be rotated. We will even water your plants. There is no need for you to worry about calling the postal service or the neighbor to pick up the paper.

Happy Tailz, Inc. works with each client to provide the best possible care for you pets. We are certified by the American Red Cross and Pet Tech in Pet CPR and 1st Aid. We are an accredited and certified member of Pet Sitters International, and are insured and bonded.

Happy Tailz, Inc. is celebrating it’s 8th year in business!

This business had been brewing in my mind for some time and one week I was going to be caring for a neighbor’s dog, Gracie. She knew me, my dog and my home.

The first night as I slept, she climbed up onto the bed and onto my chest to bark at me. Gracie wanted to go home! NOW, Please! So at 3 o’clock in the morning I got up and returned her to her home.

Bottom line… all of us feel more comfortable at home.

My family and friends will tell you I have always loved dogs, even when I was little. Some joked and called me the Dog Whisperer! I truly enjoy the company of all types of pets.

Since opening this company, I have worked hard to become the expert people expect me to be. I am Accredited by Pet Sitters International, American Red Cross, Pet Tech and recently received my certificate from FEMA in Animals in Disaster: Awareness and Preparedness. 2012, 2013 I have been nominated for Pet Sitter of the Year.

Most of my training has come through the contact I have had with rescues. Thank you to all and there are many to thank!

I used Happy Tailz on at least three occasions. I always felt Cindy took good care of e of my two cats when I was out of town. However, I would not use her services again.
I always left lengthy typed out instructions with exact dates and times of my departure and arrival times back into town, which included my requested dates of pet sitting services. On one occasion, she called me worried that I had not arrived home… I was still on the road, told her I hadn’t gotten home yet and I didn’t like to talk on my cell while I was driving. She was a little irritated with me, but I thought she was at least concerned.
The last time I used her services, she had one of her sitters attend to my cats while I was out of town. Again, I left detailed departure and arrival times. Her sitter misread my arrival time and took it upon herself to give my cats an extra visit, which was not authorized by me. I received a phone message from Cindy, not very friendly, about how I needed to contact them. I explained via a phone message, because for some reason I could not reach her directly that I had typed out in my kitchen my arrival time and I was currently leaving the airport. I did not request an extra visit, but she let me know in no uncertain terms she would be charging me for that visit. I paid it and would’ve paid it anyway, because my cats were happy. However, would not use her services again. It was a little weird that she would not speak with me directly to understand her sitter made a mistake and I always felt pressured to call her the very second I got back from my trips or she would be angry. I also never got one of my sets of keys back.

Consider yourself warned! Cindy met our 6 month old puppy before scheduling walks while I was going to be out of town for work. At the first walk she was scared of our dog and quit while I was already gone on travel. She was unable to properly walk our dog or get her back in the crate and she ended up leaving her in our bathroom because she couldn’t even leash our dog. She was unable to care for my dog and left me without anyone after I was already out of town. I was literally in tears immediately after landing at my destination. Luckily my husband was able to find someone for the remaining days I was away who was absolutely wonderful with my dog. It wasn’t just that Cindy quit, but she also made things so difficult for us afterwards. She makes you sign a lengthy contract at the meet and greet but apparently that contract doesn’t apply to her. She contradicts everything in the contract. Per her contract whomever terminates service has to provide notice in writing. Three days after she quit, I had to call and text several times to ask her to return our key (why she needed my key days after quitting is beyond me but it made me uncomfortable that it was so difficult to get my house key back) and provide us a termination letter. In the termination letter she wrote that we terminated the contract which was false. She also charged us double the amount agreed to based on what she thought was fair, however her contract indicated there was no assessment charges. When she stopped by to drop off my key, the termination letter and invoice I tried to pay her right there with a check and she walked away from me and ignored me so I was forced to send a check via signature required mail. She made things terribly difficult after quitting, left me in tears that my dog had no one to care for her while I was out of town and was incredibly rude and dis-​respectful. My father is a Veterinarian and I’ve dealt with several animal handlers in my time and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had! Bottom line, she was terrible with my dog, wants to make a quick buck and there’s a reason a dog walker has such a lengthy contract. I can’t be the first customer she’s done this to.

I recently used Cindy for walking my dog Nico. I actually live in Chicago, but my parents who live in Bourbonnais often watch Nico when my husband and I go out of town. Or we leave him there on our way to an Illini game in Champaign. Nico is a bit of a high maintenance dog who is shy with new people. Cindy was not put off by his behavior and listened to me when I told her exactly how she needed to approach and meet Nico. She did not have any problems getting to know him and he behaved very well for her. During the initial meet and greet, she took down many notes about anything and everything. She is beyond prepared for anything that might come up as well as just the normal routine things she needs to know. Cindy came to my parents house twice to walk Nico and left very specific notes about how he behaved and if he went potty/​poop.
I am so grateful that Cindy took the time to meet with a client who probably won’t get the opportunity to use her services a ton. But there have been several times where having a dog walker in the Bourbonnais area was much needed. I hope to use her again soon and I highly recommend her.
