History

Established in 1980.

D and S was started with Dave and Sharon Morse in 1980. Then Gary Scholten worked with them and he bought the business in 1996 and owned it until I took over in 2006 after working for him and his wife Penny for 6 years. I still run things the same way they did, hosnest and reliable work.

I was born in Stockton and raised in Lathrop and Manteca. Graduated from Lathrop Elementry and East Union High Schools. I have a family and live in Manteca and probably will for life.

I’ve been going to D&S for a couple years now. Everyone at my company uses D&S for all of our personal car needs. Very honest and intelligent auto repair which in my experience can be hard to find. If you need a honest auto repair or even just for your regular maintenance you MUST SEE D&S. I have never been to a repair place that does not try to force you into unnecessary repairs. I even went in thinking that something huge was wrong with my car and was vulnerable then I found out that it was no big deal thanks to Tom! Never going to see anyone else.

This is the guy you can trust if you’re a single woman! Us single women always fear that we“ll be ripped off because we are ignorant about car matters. Tom was amazing, took care of my care and has given me a free estimate. As long as I live in the valley Tom is my guy, well not «guy» but ya’ll know what I mean ;) Calling tomorrow for help again!

Had a truck stolen and recovered. After the insurance was done with its repairs we took it to D&S. They found significant issues with the repairs. The insurance agreed that they missed stuff. I realize now that any repaired vehicle should be double checked. I really appreciate the thoroughness at D&S. We continue to go there for all our automotive servicing. They do excellent work!

This place is the most honest one around. I already had an amazing experience with my daughters car. Yesterday, my car broke down. I was stuck in El Grove. They said it was my transmission $ 4700.00. I immediately called D & S and was asked how many miles and a few other questions. The man on the phone researched the worst case scenario and told me it should have a warranty. Thanks to him, I was able to relax and look at my options. It did have a warranty and my car is being fixed. This kind gentleman took the time and helped me out. I hear only 5 star stories about this place. Thank You!!!

Tom is very honest and helpful in understanding the issue with your car. Tom was knowledgable with my 2007 Jetta so he found the problem right away and had my estimate in a few hours and fixed car by end of day. His prices are right inline with the automotive standards for RR. Defiantly will take all my cars here for repair. Thanks to Unilocal reviews I found my mechanic!!!

Super nice & honest! Daughter’s car failed smog and he could have charged us $ 300.00 for a repair that was recommended but may or may not have helped. Checked car for free and sent me off to get smog test & passed. Made our week. Could not have been nicer. We will be future loyal customers.

Tom, The manager is honest and hard working. He really gets to bottom of problems that other shops have given up on. Because of him and his shop, I’ve gotten an extra 100,000 miles out of each of my 4 vehicles. He’s cheery, polite and you know his work on your car is done correctly. DB
