The best filipino food. Not oily. No aftertaste on their meat. I do not eat dinuguan but if it’s Ate Elda who made it, i could eat the whole order. Sisig is also great. I have tried pretty much everything and it’s all good for my palate. Very clean place and there is also a grocery area for all the other goodies and snacks.

Came in here this past Thursday because of the reviews of Unilocal and the less options of Filipino food in the area. I guess husband and wife was there, not very welcoming when I entered. Food didn’t look fresh and good. Maybe a day old? oh I asked the lady what was a dish that I pointed out and she told me, and tells me later that it’s Filipino food. I’m thinking… Yes, I’m Filipino and no, I thought I was in a Chinese restaurant LOL. Just realized old Unilocal reviews are old… hhhmm I can see how this place went downhiill

Great place, an oasis in the valley for Filipino dishes and hospitality. Their selection of store goods is lacking, the real great thing about this place is the food and the people who work there!

I’ve never eaten here but my family has ordered food from them several times for parties and such. Consistently good food and consistently good service. I recently had the pleasure of working directly with Elda, the owner. She was very accommodating with my request for party platters on a Sunday(they are usually closed). She was also very patient with my calls to make changes(add more food) throughout the week prior to the event date. When we arrived a bit earlier than our 12pm pickup time, we only had to wait 5min until we were ready to roll. She and the rest of the staff(a man and woman) were very friendly and helpful. «Manong» even helped us load the car :) Our guests raved about the food and everyone wanted to take some home, so Aki’s definitely gets an A++!

Delicious home cooked filipino food. Much better than most places in the 209. Food is always fresh, Owners are nice and establishment is clean. Manteca is lucky to have Aki’s.

This place is terrible. I was craving pansit, my favorite dish from the Philippines. The pansit had no flavor at all and had way too much cabbage. I tried to spice it was with a garlic chili sauce. Made it a little better. The big turn off was the sprocket. 2 dozen flies in the cabinet all over the fried fish. I even saw a fly come out of the eye socket of a fish. Very unsanitary and the female employee didn’t seem to care. She had a poor attitude and worse customer service. I asked if they had lumpia. She said no. But, when a Filipina lady asked right after me she told her 5 mins. WTF! I didn’t want to eat that crap anyhow.

11:30 am on Tuesday, I pulled up to the restaurant. The parking lot was empty and the only sign indicating the restaurant was open was the flashing Open sign. I stepped into the restaurant, there is seating area, and then maybe about 15 – 20 varieties of the food in heating trays, and beyond that was Asian groceries, but no one can be found in the store. On the other side of the heating trays I see the kitchen, so I yelled«Hello?» about 10 times, and someone finally came out after about 2 – 3 minutes. The food in steam table do not have any name posted. So I asked the lady that came out some questions politely. She seemed annoyed. So I decided to stick to what I know. I got 2 items combo with half rice and half pancit, and ordered Sisig and Pork Adobo. I was a bit put off by some of the food looking dry there at 11:30. I noticed some flies flying around and regretted a bit about my decision to eat there. Well, too late, I’ve just ordered. I also got some Lumpia which had to be cooked i the back and was informed it would be 10 min or so. The total came to $ 10.73. A little expensive for lunch but oh well. So I gave her $ 20 bill and 3 cents. The lady would only give $ 9.25 in change. I told her I just gave her 3 cents, so the change should be $ 9.30 instead, but she argued back against it. It’s just 5 cents, so I just said fine. I hate it when they are at the cash register and can’t do the math right. They gave me a bottled water with lunch included so that was nice. The Food: Rice was fine. Not mushy or not too hard. Long grain variety. Satisfactory. Pancit was probably the most tasteless pancit I’ve ever had in my life. 1 – 2 stars at best. Sisig — well, I believe good sisig should have good texture that comes from pig ear, pork head, etc. along with the meat. This one was just cut up meat with onions, peppers, etc., and boring. I didn’t even eat it after a couple of bites . Pork Adobo was the best thing. It could be a little more tender, but it’s acceptable and flavors are good. Lumpia was not good in multiple levels. First of all, it just came out of oil and apparently they put them in the Styrofoam dish, and it had melted the Styrofoam. I thought about sending them back and pointing it out, I decided to eat the part that wasn’t touching the Styrofoam to taste it. Outside was crispy but inside was mushy and just not good. Tasted like they were frozen pre-made kind you buy at Asian grocery store. Not worth the trouble of explaining it to the lady that argued about 5 cents earlier to get replacements. While I was at the restaurant, a couple of Filipino locals came in, and the people at the store was very nice. Couple of Americans came in as well, so the restaurant seem to get some traffic and have some followings. I wish my food and service was a bit better. C’est la vie… I won’t be coming here again.

I stopped into this place after Mangy Moose Café, looking for anything interesting near downtown. As it said«Aki», I hoped for a Japanese store. This is Filipino. That’s fine, although I buy very little Filipino food. The owner was friendly and helpful, noting that there were other Asian stores in Stockton and the Bay Area. She explained a lot of things to me, which helped a lot, as I’m so new to the area. The home made Filipino food looked interesting. As much as they were making, they must have quite a crowd. I’ve been to another such place in Florida, and they had a good following. I wish her success, but I think she’s already got it.

Elda is the kindest sweet filipina & runs a good business this mini mart has the best Filipino hot food to go or a few tables to sit and eat if you have enough time & catch a quick pinoy film –here I personally love their Chocolate Meat a.k.a Dinuguan but I also have tried almost everything from Adobo to Squid, Fried Eggplant, Pork in Coconut Milk & not to mention the common but hard to resist Pancit and absolute nothing will disappoint you here I recommend you try a little of everything they cook real homemade Filipino get full portions and easy on the wallet. My favorite place out of Manteca & Stockton even. over Mexican Food yea I said it lol oh well that’s my take

For years, Aki’s has been an important part of the Filipino community of the Manteca area. Formerly, it was located a few blocks down the street in a small strip mall location until it burned to the ground in June 2011. However, that was not the end of this Filipino institution: it returned in its present location a little over a year ago, bigger and better than ever. As long as I can remember, my family members and friends’ parents have gotten all their day-to-day necessities at Aki’s. Since they moved into their new larger location, they have even more Asian and American products. The last few times I’ve been in, I even see lots of non-Filipinos stopping by for some groceries or yummy Pinoy dishes from their deli counter. The cherry on top that really makes Aki’s so great is their friendly, home-style service. The owners/workers are the sweetest Filipino family ever. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’m visiting an uncle or auntie’s house. They are also extremely helpful, especially for those who might be unfamiliar with Filipino foods and products. It’s also nice that the lady there always recognizes me and asks about how I’m doing when I come in to buy something or when I have run into her at church or the doctor’s office. That’s real hometown service! Now that I live in the Bay Area, I miss the genuine, down-to-earth experience of shopping regularly at Aki’s. However, I always stop by to grab what I need whenever I’m in town to visit family. My recent visit the day before Christmas Eve to get some spring roll wrappers and a fried tilapia was great as always! Shop and support small local businesses!

The best Filipino Food in the Stockton/Manteca area!!! We were originally from Stockton, where there were a few Filipino restaurants to choose from, and we were greatly pleased and surprised by Aki’s. This is as authentic as you can get. The place is big, clean, and the people there were very nice, friendly and helpful. There’s a grocery area filled with my favorite Filipino delicacies and other things… My 2 ½ yr old son even decided to bring home his very own walis tambo. Lol. We moved to Ripon from Stockton, and there weren’t any Filipino restaurants in Modesto or Ripon. A friend suggested Aki’s. My hubby(who is Caucasian) and I, with our 2 kids came here and tried their food, and it was delicious! We had pansit, Adobo, Mechado, Dinuguan and Pinakbet. My husband agrees that the food is the best we’ve tasted so far in the valley! We had a birthday party for my daughter and wanted some Filipino Food. We ordered trays of Kare — Kare(my favorite!!!), Kaldereta(the hubby’s favorite) and pansit. We had other types of food/dishes at home, but i wished we ordered more Filipino Food… Because it was soooooo delicious! Everyone at the party loved it, even the first-time tasters! We came back a few days later and got a tray of Kare-Kare. That’s how good it was. It was so tasty that you didn’t even need bagoong for taste, unlike other places’ Kare-Kare, which tastes bland without it. Gosh, just thinking about it makes me wanna go get some, ha! We would definitely recommend this to everyone. And, we are definitely coming back to eat here and order party food! I can’t wait for our next party! :) Sarap!

The food here is ok but I like the fact that they have a mini grocery inside. I do not need to drive far if I only need small items. The prices of their grocery items are not reasonable.

The owner who is also the cook does not seem to know how to price her cooked food. I went to buy cooked fish one time and she initially told me a price but in a split of a second he raised the price. I would rather drive to Tracy and Stockton to get my Filipino food. The turon is the worst i had.
