First of all, the Pizza was awesome! Cool little place, but it’s kind of run down and dirty. I took my family there to eat pizza and we sat outside. That is were all the smokers go to smoke and they didn’t even care that we had kids there. Great atmosphere to hang out with the guys and drink and eat pizza though. Not so much of a place to take the family for pizza. I will be ordering out next time.

I visited Mike’s a couple of years ago with my family; it was not a good experience to say the least. I’m not sure if there is a way to say this nicely, but this is a restaurant that a typical family should not visit. The people in this establishment looked as if they just got out of prison. The people who worked there made me and my family feel very uncomfortable(they were very unfriendly). Everything looked dirty and everything I touched seemed sticky. One of the workers who carried our plates out left a big greasy thumprint on my plate(gross). Four men were at the bar dropping«F-bombs» left and right which I really appreciated since my kids were with me. If you are looking for good food and a decent dining experience look elsewhere — ANYWHEREELSE.

I really don’t know how to rate this one. Keep in mind, this rating is from a single experience at Mike’s. Mike’s is a typical dive bar. Dark lighting, wooden booths, old«Welcome Race Fans!» posters hanging up on the walls. As a dive bar fan, I would give it 4.5 to 5 stars. The food is what got me. Not looking to hork down an entire pizza all by my onesie, I opted for the Italian sub that a regular recommended. Let me tell ya: DONOTGETTHEITALIANSUB. No where on the menu description did it say the Italian sub had bologna on it. What did the meat taste like? You guessed it. Bologna. I even tried to pull off each layer of meat to try to find the culprit. I can’t say much about the pizza because I am not a traditional pizza fan, nor have I tried their pizza. Other than that, the beer was cold, the locals were plentiful(mostly older males; I saw the grandfather of a classmate there), and it’s a huge hit for biker week.

Again, a review where I could not decide if I should award 5 stars or 1. I settled on the middle. Mike’s Pizza Pub has been around forever; my 10 year high school reunion ended here last weekend. It was my first trip there, given that apon high school graduation I got the hell out of Mansfield. However, it is apparently one of the bars that every local has been to at least once in their life. I believe that was my one and only time. I remember my father making trips there while I was growing up and him regretting each and every one of them the next morning. This place would be hipster headquarters if it were in a big city. There, it would be ironic. Since I enjoy hipster bars, the entire time I was there I kept thinking how cool it was… but then I had to remember that it wasn’t trying to impersonate a dump, it actually was a dump. The racing posters weren’t ironic. The cheap pizza and beer weren’t ironic. The place was authentic, most importantly the clientele was authentic, which is mostly why it warrants a 1 star. Like, these people probably wanted W to have a 3rd term. To be fair, it seemed sort of clean.
