Went here and tried the chicken fried chicken. The sides tasted like they have been sitting outside the warmer all day. The courtesy bread was bland, and the flavorless butter didnt help at all. The dr. pepper tasted flat. I asked my waitress if she could change it to a coca cola. Well, the coca cola was even more flat. The scenery was depressing, i give them props on the veteran table, but the vibe was boring. The crowd here was more for the elderly. I felt like I traveled into the future and aged because of the quiet scenery, and the smell of arthiritis lotion didn’t help. The chicken fried chicken’s batter tasted raw. I didnt even finish my food. I decided to get a pie, well, the one I wanted was no longer available. The waitress recommended the buttermilk pie, so I decided to try it. I took my first bite, and I practically shed a tear. The flavor was awful. The pie tasted days old. The food is more pricey than «Our Place» down the street. The pie’s are not tasty enough to brag about. The soft drinks are flat (I believe they use 2 liter bottles to refill). They need to do a complete makeover on the food and scenery. I would rAther wait 40 minutes at our place, than to dine at Joe’s with a depressing scenery. The place is just as hidden as my thoughts on coming back. This place upset this veteran, I give them an «E» for Effort. I received the pie for free, from the Unilocal app. The free pie doesnt even give me the courtesy to rate this place even higher.

I would rather wait 40 minutes to eat at Our Place than eat here without a wait.
This was our first visit here. When we arrived, I was impressed with the exterior of the restaurant. Once we entered, I was only ever disappointed. We immediately traveled back in time 50 years to an antiquated version of a grandmother’s house. The atmosphere was just sad. I had high hopes for the food, but it was just as lackluster as the décor. My husband and I ordered omelets. They were 3 eggs omelets, but they looked flat and small. The coffee was basic. Our table was out of creamer pods. The service was slow and our waitress was forgetful. The homemade biscuits advertised on the menu were nothing to celebrate. They had more of a bread loaf texture than a biscuit texture. The biscuits came with a bowl of packet white gravy. (Boring!) The table did not have jelly. We had to ask for it. Overall, we were disappointed with our meal and our eating experience. We will not be back.

Our first time to joes, and we walked in and stood around because we had no idea we had to wait on a server, so we sat around and waited and a group of people told the server and I informed her that we were here first. It took about 10 minutes to sit down for two. I order an orange juice and I spat it out it was so disgusting, I tell our waitress and she brings another = still absolutely disgusting I didn’t drink it. We waited about 30 minutes, and I notice that the people after us got our breakfast before. Already annoyed our waitress was rude and short tempered. I wanted to leave already but my fiancé told me to wait it out. The food is nothing special, the servings are small. Over cooked food. Dry biscuits. There are a million other places in Mansfield that are more friendly, and actually hometown loving food.
Don’t waste your time or money unless you have the time. I notice that our orange juice is almost 3 $ for disgusting orange juice so I asked her is this how much it usually costs? She slams the menu and says it 3.29 but she was pointing at the cappuccino and didn’t notice… lol
Finally ready to leave, we go to the host and the girl is too busy on snapchat to help anyone else.
Our place, and the porch are worth the wait. Save your time.

Came to this place because of all the great reviews. Very disappointed at first but it redeemed itself with great food.
Was seated virtually immediately but then spent next 15 minutes waiting for drinks and to have our orders taken.
That aside, the food was excellent. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and my wife had the kitchen sink. We both had a lot of leftovers.
Ultimately, the food was excellent and the service, once they finally came the first time, was fine. We will return because of the quality of the food.
Lastly, I will highly recommend the chicken fried steak. It was fantastic.

Yummy!!! The turkey & dressing was very good and one of the special veggies was FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!!! AND you can sub one veggie for a slice of pie… WOW! We’ll be back!!!

Wonderful hometown food. We ate breakfast here twice and lunch. Had the Denver omelette one morning which was great and the breakfast burrito the other both recommend by LeeAnn who waited on us. Have some pie for lunch and the beaf barley soup you won’t be disappointed. Lots of locals eat here another good sign that this is a must stop.

Great place to eat. Food was fresh, perfect and right price. There is not one bad thing to say about this place.

Do miss Bobby but it‘s still a great place to eat and very friendly.

Disappointed since new management changed some things. Homemade French fries are gone. I’ll still eat there on occasion. I’ll check back at breakfast and see how things compare.

This place serves your typical «Diner» style food. I had breakfast here and it was pretty good, not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely good and worth coming back for. This place is out of sight from the main road, Broad St. Service was good and wait time was minimal on the w/​e morning we ate there. I believe this place has a sister store in Irving, Texas. I gave it three stars because I wasn’t blown away and there wasn’t anything there that stood out from the other places I’ve eaten breakfast.

This has become our breakfast spot. The staff are always friendly, they are prompt at taking your order and getting it out to you. The food is great *Love the grits* we definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a good place to eat some breakfast

5 Star Diner experience.
I went on a Saturday about 8am. This is right about when they start getting busy so they were well-​staffed and still fresh-​faced. The waitresses all help each other and even the bus boy checked in to see if we needed anything!
I get pretty much the same thing at diners so it is easy to compare. Their eggs were SO fresh. This makes a huge difference and is usually hit or miss at diners. I ordered the 2 eggs, bacon extra crispy, Kansas City hashbrowns (after other Unilocalers recommended it), toast. This order is easy to make bland and I still like it but at Joe’s it is packed with freshness and flavor. Nothing was over cooked or made without thought.
My husband and I also shared the French toast– also surprisingly fresh, battered perfectly! He got the Kitchen Sink and it had the PERFECT portions of egg, meats and cheese. No skimping!
I will definitely become a regular!

I can’t believe I live this close to here and never been. The food was great, the people were very friendly, and it was clean and no wait on Sunday morning. I’ll be back.

Ever since Bobby left, yes we frequented Joe’s that often. The servers have not been informed of extra charges for items on the menu. For example, my husband was asked if he would like a waffle in lieu of the pancake. He replied sure! And when we received the bill, there was an extra charge for the waffle. The server made no reference of the additional cost and it was not included anywhere on the menu. When simply pointing this out to the owner, he was rude and belligerent to my husband and me. He was not listening to our point — we simply wanted to make him aware of the lack of communication via print or server of the increase. This is not the first time we have been charged and not informed, after Bobby left the business. I simply didn’t want this to happen to others — not attempting to get something for free. Sadly, unless Bobby returns, we will not be going back. My father visiting from Ohio for 8 days this past spring, ate breakfast at least 6 times while here. He even wanted to have a picture with Bobby. Which Bobby gladly did for him.
When we have frequented Joe’s after the owner change, we have noticed that the amount of people visiting the restaurant has diminished and yes we have been there at peak times. And now even fewer will be visiting –Very disappointing. This was not appropriate customer service or how to treat your patrons. Unfortunately, the owner needed to simply listen and understand not all people are out to get something for free. All I was attempting to do was inform him of the menus needing to be updated to reflect additional charges and also to take the time to inform servers of these charges — then he would have happy patrons and ones which would return. Hence, keeping the business as Bobby had grown it and continue it to flourish. Sadly, grumbling at your patrons won’t keep them coming back.

Not sure where my original review went that I posted a few weeks ago??? It was basically a glowing affirmation of all of the reasons I love this place! Been back twice since then and nothing’s changed! Great food! First visit was lunch. These last two were breakfast — corned beef hash on Monday and sausage gravy with biscuits today. Both were terrific!
The place was really busy this morning so I expected it to take a while to get my breakfast… took about FOUR minutes! The eggs were cooked perfect over-​medium. The grits were a little thin and not terribly hot, but not a transgression so egregious that it would warrant docking them a «star». The biscuits were big and fluffy and the gravy was loaded with crumbled sausage!
Once again, the service was impeccable… fast, attentive, friendly!

I’ve heard about this place for a long time, but could never find it — everybody says «It’s just off Broad.» Broad runs for several miles. For those Unilocalers out there who were like me, take 287 and exit at Broad. Go East (towards Grand Prairie), and then turn right on the first street you come to. Joe’s will be on the left. You wouldn’t know it’s a restaurant, it looks like your typical generic medical/​bank building.
Today’s visit was my second. If a restaurant has corned beef hash on the menu, I will jump on it (unless it has a pastrami omelet…). The last time I was in, I noticed the Chicken Fried Meatloaf. Texans will batter and fry pretty much anything, and I looove meatloaf. So, I figured I would try it out.
My meal came out quickly, with two pieces of chicken fried meatloaf, two eggs, hashbrowns and two biscuits and a bowl of cream gravy. The meatloaf was cooked perfectly, with a slightly sweet taste. The hashbrowns are prepared the same way I do at home (I parboil the potatoes and let them cool before shredding them). The biscuits were a bit heavy, but I like them that way. My only complaint is they need to give you an extra bowl of gravy — there wasn’t enough to cover both the meatloaf AND the biscuits.
I guess I have two complaints. I get so full that I don’t have any room for pie. It’s 2:30 pm (I ate at 9 am) and I am still full.

First time visiting this family owned staple in Mansfield. I walked in around 1030 on a Sunday and the line was out the door! Great sign but having to wait 30 mins to an hour is not good when you’re hungry. Never the less, I had decided on trying this place out so I stuck it out. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. They definitely make you feel welcomed. I ordered a coffee and they provided a variety of flavored creamers to choose from, which was great to see! The meal was good home cooking. I had the normal 2 egg bfast with 3 strips of bacon (thick and crispy), hash browns (browned to order) and decided to try their biscuits. The biscuits were very soft and buttery and the gravy that came on the side was very flavorful. I could not finish all my food but it was very good. If you want good home cooking and don’t mind a long wait, you should definitely check out this place

Delicious breakfast!!! The biscuits were light and fluffy, the sausage gravy was very flavorful, eggs perfectly prepared as ordered and the hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The service was great.

I loves me some Joe’s. I routinely visit for breakfast and have never (25+ visits) ever walked away unsatisfied. Being somewhat of a hash-​brown snob, I can say, without a doubt, that Joe’s makes the BEST hashies I’ve had. They’re the shredded variety (some places use the chopped potatoes) that have a great crust on them, a nice tender inside and enough seasoning to make them fantastic by themselves. No tabasco needed.
But wait… There’s More!
You can even order them… get this… Kansas City Style which means they now come with bits of grilled onion and bacon. YES!
My standby breakfast consists of a plate called a BOB (Big Olé Breakfast) which is basically 2 eggs (any style), hash browns, chili, cheese and jalapenos. Toast or biscuits+gravy on the side as well. Slam that all on a plate and it’s enough to remind your veins why you woke up that morning.
Now…if I’m feeling extra ravenous, I order a BLOB (not on the menu) which is basically a BOB with added Corned Beef Hash. Don’t ask my why I call it the Blob other than to say it’s easier to order than a CBHBOB.
They have a huge selection of homemade pies (lemon meringue is fantastic) and a great selection sandwiches for lunch. They aren’t open for dinner which is fine — it gives them more time to prepare those luscious hash browns!
