History

Established in 1993.

Having been hired in 1977 by Manitowoc’s best known bike shop as a 9^th grader, little did John Brunner know that he was about to set his career path. in 1993, John set out on his own to form The Fitness Store and hasn’t looked back since. With the absolute best bicycle AND fitness equipment service in the area, John has established himself as the «go-​to» guy in both industries.

Born and raised in Manitowoc, John has not only laid roots here, but has gotten involved in many events and organizations which make Manitowoc a better place to live. A founder of the Maritime Classic bicycle race, Friends of Mariners Trail, Friends of Citizen Park Rec Center, John has been instrumental in these community assets. John is also on the board of the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and serves on the committee of Lakeshore Weekend which to date has raised for than $ 1.25 million dollars for Children’s Hospital.
