I just called and the soonest they could fit my cat is next Wednesday.
It has gotten good reviews and is near where I live but I cannot wait that long for an appointment.

Recently, one of my wonderful, dear, sweet, lovely kitties suffered a quick decline, and we made the agonizing decision to put him down three days ago so that he could avoid pain and suffering. (I won’t include all the details just now, but I’ll mention that his illness was pancreatic cancer. If anyone would like the full story or thinks it would be helpful for me to include the full story publicly, please send me a message and I’ll consider posting an update.)
When we first took our kitty to Upper East Vet after noticing that something might be going wrong, Dr. Keefe did some tests and recognized that we needed to bring him to a specialist; she recommended Blue Pearl, where experts did a great job diagnosing our boy. Even though the news was grim, we did want to know what was happening with him so that we could make informed decisions and not just hope we were doing the right thing and possibly regret our choices later.
I’ll skip over some of the interim details for now, but suffice it to say, Drs. Keefe, Nunemacher, and Goldberg all contributed to our kitty’s treatment over the ensuing week, as we tried a couple last palliative options.
I will never regret how we handled his illness or his passing, and I will always be grateful to Drs. Goldberg, Keefe, and Nunemacher at Upper East Vet for providing us with compassion, detailed advice, and patience. I also just received a condolence card in the mail from Upper East Vet, and I’ll be picking up a clay paw print that Dr. Goldberg made right after my boy passed. These gestures are so meaningful to us and help us honor the memory of our incredible boy.

After having been patients of the ASPCA, my two dogs needed a new vet when the ASPCA began only taking emergency cases this year. I couldn’t be happier about choosing Upper East Veterinary Center. Dr. Goldberg and the vet tech (I don’t remember her name) were fantastic. My JRT mix pups got a very thorough exam. They even took their photos for the record. They give a lot of positive reinforcement during the exam, giving small treats to the dogs so that there is no negative association with going to the vet. The front desk staff was professional and friendly. They called to confirm my appointment the day before and gave me a follow up call after the appointment. The price was a bit of sticker shock but I was used to the ASPCA’s reduced rates, and comparatively, they are on par with other NYC vets. The price will not keep me away, though, as Dr. Goldberg and her team are most definitely worth what they charge. I left feeling happy to have found a new vet practice that I love.

God bless Dr. Megan Nunemacher and her amazing staff. I had such a pleasant experience at this establishment. From the receptionist who I spoke with on the phone, to the assistant that took all my kittens medical information, to the Veterinarian who gave me the knowledge/​treatment to help my Toyger Tigger. My little guy was having explosive diarrhea and I couldn’t figure out what to do because besides the diarrhea he was acting and eating like a normal kitten. It’s been one day since I started following Dr. Nunemacher’s thought out treatment plan and he’s already doing do much better. I can’t thank her enough for helping me and also fitting me in according to my work schedule. I never write Unilocal reviews but I had to give them a shout out for the service they provided. They weren’t like most vets who try to make you spend ridiculous money on stuff that is unneeded for your pets symptoms. They were straightforward and right to the point. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because they deserve it!

Top notch. Adopted a kitten recently and this group has been fantastic. Extremely friendly staff, vet tech, and docs. The vets are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to. Their demeanor put my cat right at ease. I’ve left every appointment extremely satisfied with his care, and really feel like he’s in good hands.
Convenient hours, excellent veterinary care. Big bowl of dog treats at the front desk. They should put out treats for cats as well!

I really enjoyed my time going to the Upper East Veterinary Center. They helped me with the stress and anxiety of getting a new puppy. My 2 year old cock-​a-​poo and I frequented the Vet’s very often and they would be kind and courteous of my insane questions. I really appreciated their follow up calls and making us feel like an integral part of the practice. My dog got neutered at this center and they did a great job at making me feel comfortable with leaving him there and in their care for the day.
My only criticism of the practice is that when I repeatedly called with complaints of constant stomach issues, there was little resolution with their suggestions. Twice in one year my dog got sick and I would call numerous times to remedy the situation. We went to countless office visits and tried probiotics, bland diets, and anti-​diarrheal medication. Finally the only option was to run about $ 1K worth of tests to make sure nothing was really wrong. When I got a second opinion, we made one switch to a non beef /​non poultry and it was 48 hours and we were back to normal, which was a huge relief.
Overall, I do miss the vets at the UE Vet Center. They were great to us during the first few years of my pup’s life! We have since relocated outside NYC.

Everyone here — from the front desk staff, to the assistants, to the vets — are incredibly patient, caring, and helpful. When I had questions about my new kitten, an assistant called me back and helped me figure out if/​when to bring him in. Once I did bring him in, the staff were incredibly thorough — answering questions and explaining things. The office is clean and you can access records electronically, which are both big pluses for me. I have tried other vets in the neighborhood and this is by far, the best!

Moving to New York City with my anxious, antisocial senior dog was very daunting to say the least but finding this vets office has been just wonderful.
Firstly it’s a block from my home/​work so the convenience is perfect.
The reception staff are just so welcoming, patient and understanding which is lovely when you arrive with a stressed out dog!
And finally the doctors. i have even recommended these ladies to my boss as i was so happy to have Simba in their expert care.
We had a cancer diagnosis after moving here and after playing phone tag with Dr
Nunemacher for a couple of days she finally got a hold of me on a holiday weekend. The fact it was a holiday was of no consequence to her, she explained everything i needed to know and answered all my questions.
A gem of a find on the Upper East Side for sure!

This place is wonderful! The vet answered our long list of questions with patience and a great attitude. Overall, it was affordable for the area ($ 95 office fee + $ 80 for test and ear meds). We’ll definitely be using them as our go-​to vet!

Dr. Goldberg and Dr. Nunemacher are both incredibly sweet and professional with your fur babies. My dog often gets scared and the vet tech was thinking of having to restrain him. When Dr. Nunemacher walked in the room he immediately calmed down and trusted her.
They have also cared for my kitty this year. She has very quickly come down with lymphoma and (even though our vet from back home thinks too many tests were ordered on her) they have been on the phone or emailing with me almost every day. In the end there hasn’t been much we can do but keep our little girl comfortable during her last days but their genuine care and concern has made all the difference throughout this process. I highly recommend them both.

We have been to many vets in the city and Upper East Veterinary Center is by far the best! The staff is so wonderful — reception, techs and both Dr. Goldberg and Dr. Neumacher. We take our older dog there, plus 2 cats — they are always accommodating and caring… our dog is older, so Dr. Neumacher gets down on the floor with him to examine versus putting him up on the table — just love her. We, admittedly, have some routine vaccines done by a low-​cost vet on the corner of our street simply for location and cost benefit. However, would always use UES Vet Center for everything else. Both of our cats had to have dental surgery and would not have considered taking them anywhere else. I am so happy to have found this practice!

I’ve been bringing my golden retriever to this vet since I got her as a puppy. I couldn’t be happier with the service. The receptionists are always very helpful and accommodating, and always managed to fit me in whenever my dog needed attention. The vet techs were super friendly and always came out and greeted my dog in the waiting area. We were seen by both doctors (Goldberg and Nunemacher) and both were extremely friendly and helpful, answering all of my questions and treating my dog like she was one of their own. My dog is always excited when we walk by the office, and tries to go in to greet everyone. I suppose that’s the biggest indicator of a great vet office; the dog loves going in.
I noticed a lot of reviews say that the office is very expensive. I did often think that prices were a little steep, but I was always very happy with the service, and more than willing to pay to know my dog was in capable hands.
After 2 years with the office we’re unfortunately moving out of the area. It’s the only reason we have for leaving them. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

I’m not thrilled. This was the first time I took my dog there, since we just moved to Manhattan about a year ago. While the staff and the doctor (not sure which doctor we saw) were nice enough, I was unhappy that they took the dog away from me and went elsewhere to take blood and give the shots. This is only the second time I have ever had a vet do procedures on my dog when I was not in the same room, and the first time, many years ago, turned my calm, placid dog into one who needed to be muzzled whenever he went back again, because he growled and threatened to bite the vet. Whatever they did to him out of my sight was enough to either scare him or hurt him, or both. The fact that this vet also removed my dog from my presence is enough to make me go elsewhere next time.

Very nice, very friendly, very accommodating. I enjoy coming here, even though my pup doesn’t. They respond to emails with medical questions relatively quickly, which is helpful. I haven’t had any major problems with them. Upper East Vet is recommended.

The staff and Dr. Nunemacher were very helpful. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. I was nervous that prices would be high, considering its Manhattan, however I found it very reasonable. I would highly recommend this office to anyone.

I’ve been using this vet office since I got my dog over a year ago. Dr. Goldberg is super friendly and knowledgable. Dr. Neumacher did my dogs spay surgery and she is great too!
Their prices are reasonable, especially for being in the city. My mom pays higher vet prices up in Westchester.
The office is always clean. The staff is helpful and friendly.
We had to call them once for an emergency and we were able to speak to a tech right away.
It’s always easy to get an appointment and They have weekend hours which is a plus!

My dog is healthy. He just had a check up a few months ago. I came here for nothing more than a heart-​worm script. Indicated he has always been on heart worm and would simply like the script as I have absolutely NO worry that he could possibly have them. BUT I was told that due to «legal concerns» he had to have a test and exam before the script could be filled. Was told that if he had heart worms and took the meds major life-​ending events could occur. (Yet… I was given the script before the test results came back… hmmm, what’s up with that?)
I appreciate Vets who care, but it’s clear to me that having to get a «check up» for a perfectly healthy pet just to have a script for heart worm medication is a bit of a way to generate profits. Bottom line: what should have cost $ 120 (meds and lab test) wound up with an «annual exam» and a total bill of almost $ 220.
Since you treated us with more concern for profit that compassion, you get the two stars…

It was super daunting after moving to NYC to find a vet I could trust. I poured over the Unilocal reviews for days to find just the right one.
Dr. Goldberg was great with Diesel (my min pin). After some terrible vet experiences in Boston, it was refreshing to have a vet ACTUALLY communicate and take her time to answer any questions I had.
Huge bonus, it’s close to my place. I can get Diesel there quickly if I need to. They are also extremely accommodating with scheduling.
Highly recommend!

Great Vet!
We finally broke down and decided to take our two exotic cats to a vet in Manhattan. In the past we went to a vet in my old ‘hood. We were definitely not disappointed.
Both Vets in the practice are great and knowledgeable. They respect appointment times and take their time with their four legged patients. The office is clean and the staff is friendly and efficient.
They are also very reasonably priced.
