Trump Place – 140 Riverside Blvd Apartments

I liked trump place. So I went back to trump place to look for a studio, with a black friend. I had an appointment. But I they didn’t want to show me anything.
They quoted me higher prices than their website prices & said the ones shown on the site, the tenant is no longer moving out. But the difference was $ 700– right before Xmas.
A potential roommate & I both asked for prices for 1bedroom 12 hours before I went in. When I went with my black friend, I was told a higher price; roommate went by herself a few hours later, she was told it’s available, just can’t show yet. They also left friend & I sitting in the leasing office lobby, never invited us in the leasing office.
Trump leasing agent then told me to go to a different building that’ll be in my price range – it was super old with no amenity & priced higher than Trump (website confirmed the price). Wasn’t in my budget at all.
Also, over the phone, they told us if we signed a longer than 1 year lease, the rent would be even lower. During my visit with a black friend, they told me a 2 year lease would be at a higher rate (even higher than the one she quoted me on site).
She wasn’t outright rude; but the difference in treatment & the eagerness to get rid of us was so very obvious.
She finally showed us the 1 bdrm after I requested it again. She didn’t even walk us to the door after showing. I had an appointment!

I want to thank everyone who mentioned Hollie Bailey by name. I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Bailey today like DeJaVu. You are all correct. Hollie was generous with her expertise and with her time. A good listener. Emphathetic. Like talking with a Personal Coach or something! Next? I have a lot of work ahead of me… that is my part and responsibility. But it is importnat to find that good Professional Expert to work with. Thank you all again and that is why these reviews are important. I hope that everyone who is looking to rent or buy a Coop or a Condo or a House will call and ask for Hollie Bailey!

It’s fine while you’re there but watch out when you leave. The staff at this building, particularly Soile, were the biggest jerks to me on the way out. Completely unresponsive to my calls/​emails about apt issues and procedures as I left the building. I would NOT recommend this building at all

If you want to live at Trump Place — call and ask for Hollie. She is amazing — patient and hard working and she has your interested in mind.
She is not about money but about giving you a home. I bother her for a whole year and she was patient and nice and in the end help me and got me what I was looking for.
Hollie didn’t mind me coming at least 10 times and bother her and she always helped me and listen. I highly recommend working with Hollie. She is hard working and dedicated and PATIENT! She CARES about you.
The building is clean and nice and you can have a dog (not easy in NY) and in the summer you will have a blest now that they are movie nights by the water front. It is safe, not pretentious and feels like a little community in the middle of Manhattan.
Come to Trump Place and trust Hollie will give you a great deal and you will be happy here!

This place is good when you are there, like the other reviews say. But when it comes to renewal and move-​out, it’s been extremely painful.
First, they give you large rent increases regardless of the rental market situation. The leasing agents have leeway to negotiate down price, despite what they tell you. But many of them are so difficult to work with. They would much rather lose you as a tenant and have their apartment vacant than giving you a reasonable renewal price. Our old apartment has been vacant for a month and is on the market for a price even lower than our previous rent! They absolutely don’t care about keeping tenants and the agents’ incentive must be so messed up.
Second, they will nickel and dime to an absurd degree when you move out. Even normal wear and tear are charged for a lot of money. We had lived in another building for several years previously and had our full deposit back. We were at Trump place for a year and they took several hundred dollars. They just try to find any reason to take your money.
If you are looking for a place to live for more than a year, and don’t want to stomach senseless increases each time, and don’t want to deal with nasty move-​outs, this is not the place. There’re many other options in the neighborhood. Condos nearby could be a better choice.

I’ve.ived here for a month now and I am absolutely in love with it. The community is quiet (for the city). The staff go above and beyond. It has helped my move to the city transition so much easier.

I lived in 140 Trump for a year and had a decent experience.
First, the pros:
*Really nice lobby
*Very friendly doormen and maintenance staff
*Staff are very responsive to any maintenance issues
*Apartments are pretty nice and have nice features (albeit a bit cookie-​cutter)
*Location is decent — a bit far from the subway and restaurants, but peaceful and scenic
*Received my entire security deposit back upon move-​out
The cons:
*They will really nickel and dime you in any way possible: if you lose your keys, it’s $ 250 to replace them; if you lose your gym key fob, it’s $ 100 to replace it. Having lived in many other NYC buildings, I know this is not anywhere near the actual cost to replace these things — this is clearly a profit source for the management company.
*During your last month as a tenant, they discontinue your automatic rent payment direct debit. There is a rather confusing one line note on the move-​out procedures notice that explains this. The result is that most people don’t understand their auto direct debit is being terminated until they realize they haven’t paid their last month’s rent, and they end up with a late charge for the last month’s rent. Again, I think the building just does this to make extra money.
*Large renewal rent increase: My increase was ~10% (which equated to about $ 330 more a month). They are willing to give tenants a 2 year lease, but only with a built-​in 10% year-​over-​year increase, which should have been the first red flag to me that all tenants receive big increases. These increases are basically without regard to the rental market, and the leasing agents have no ability to modify them — they are simply handed down by management and there is no negotiating with them. I spoke with a bunch of other tenants, and everyone received similar increases. I think the idea is that they give you an increase (8%-10%) that is large, but not so large, that they hope you decide it’s not worth the hassle of moving out. They don’t really value continuity of their tenants and simply give you the largest increase they think you can bear. I did move out, and watched as my apartment sat on the 140 Trump website for a month and then ultimately rented for exactly what I had been paying in rent. Basically, if you’re looking to only live here for a year, it’s fine. But if you’d like a place with the potential to stay longer, look elsewhere, unless you want to face 10% annual rent increases.
*You are REQUIRED to pay the in-​house cleaning service to have your apartment professionally cleaned upon move out. The charge is $ 200 for a 1 bedroom (more for larger apartments). When I asked why I could not just clean the place upon move-​out myself (as I had done in all of my previous apartments), I was told that this was the building’s policy, and that it didn’t matter how great I cleaned the place — if I didn’t provide a receipt from the in-​house cleaning service proving that I’d hired them to clean my place upon move-​out, the building would go ahead and hire them and deduct the $ 200 cleaning charge from my security deposit. When I asked what kind of cleaning this is, I was told that it’s a very extensive cleaning — washing the window blinds, taking apart all appliances to clean inside them, cleaning behind the dishwasher and refrigerator, steaming the carpets, etc. — basically, the building is passing on the cost of preparing the apartment for the next tenant to you. Just another way that they’ll nickel and dime you.

When looking for apartments in NYC — the process can be daunting. When you find a sales associate like Hollie Bailey at 140, the process becomes fun. Seriously, don’t be freaked out in your apartment hunt — just go to 140 Riverside and ask for Hollie. She cares more about you finding the right place than making a sale.
Awesome people at 140, awesome building. Huge fan.

I live in 180 Trump place and absolutely love the location. The doorman and concierge are so nice I couldn’t ask for better people!
I have to say if you are looking to rent from here you should ask to be shown around by Hollie Bailey. She is so sweet and caring. My husband and I have lived here for about a year now and every time she sees us she still greats us by name. She is very competent and works very hard to get you the best deal and apartment for you. Her attitude and knowledge are really what helped us decide Trump Place was for us.
The apartments themselves have been renovated as has there gyms so it makes it a very nice atmosphere to come home to! Being right next to Riverside Park is also awesome for running and going on walks with our dog.

I live in 180 Riverside Boulevard, it has been a great experience so far, I love the upper west side area, there is great parks along the river with the best sunset, loads of playgrounds for kids! Its gets windy during winter but when come the snow the road and pavement are clean ride away,
downstairs on the Pier live music during summer and great cheap hot Dog to hang out with friends and family,
Doorman, Concierge, Maintenance always try their best to please you and are very helpful, If you have a problem with AC or need battery for the fire alarm or no light or the toilet are plug. well give them 15minutes max and the maintenance will be there to help you,
The Building are nice, great view of the river, inside playroom for kids, dry cleaner, Spacious Gym, ATM machine, on the other side of the building (Freedom Place:) Grocery store (they do delivery with no minimum!!) restaurant the Yard, Liquor store, Cleo SPA: Hair Dresser, manicure-​ped’ massage…
Doctor, school, Mandarin school,
bus every morning and evening thats drive you every 10 minutes to the subway 72^nd street,
always taxi outside,
Apartments are high ceiling, all appliances are new huge windows,
I am surprise that some people had a bad experience there, I have nothing wrong to say about it,
I lived in Inwood when I first come to Manhattan (manhattan north) the area was not safe, dirty, nobody clean the snow, no respect from neighbors, dirty building, cucaracha, mouse, bed bugs, supervisor that never helps…(the list is long), so I have seen one of the very bad of Manhattan and I feel lucky to be where i am now!

I live in 140. The apartments are beautiful, they fill service requests THE SAME DAY most of the time (the next day is as long as I’ve ever had to wait), and the doormen and concierge men are like family to me.
The rent is expensive, but I don’t know of many places that aren’t in Manhattan, especially considering you’re across the street from a beautiful park and the Hudson River. As a person with two dogs, it couldn’t be more convenient.
I’ve never had a problem with hearing my neighbor’s TV through the wall as one person complained, the staff DOES speak English, and I’ve always gotten help with my luggage/​packages without even asking.
I couldn’t be happier with the building and its staff. I plan on living in this building for a long time.

First of all, a great big thank you to Hollie Bailey for helping us in getting the beautiful apt we have. Everyone else in this beautiful building has been wonderful and helpful in everything we’ve needed or wanted. The apts themselves are well equipped and comfortable. Noise level is minimal, since the windows are so well insulated. Parking is no problem, since we use the garage right next door at 160 Riverside and have never had a problem. We love having the park and esplanade right across the street and feeling like we live in away from the hustle and bustle, when in fact we’re close to everything. Walking to Columbus Circle takes us all of 10 minutes. There isn’t much to complain about when you have a lovely wine shop right downstairs, a gourmet grocery a block away and a taxi at the snap of a finger. Great building and great location. We expect to be here for years to come.

I have lived in 140 Riverside on two occasions. The first time was wonderful, prompting me to lease again. However, this time has been HORRIBLE. The fact that people were protesting the new management outside of the building the day we moved in should have been a clue. The agents and management will not return your calls and make you feel as though you are their last priority. Furthermore, the agent we used made a mistake, which we had to pay for, literally. Management cannot be bothered and rather than trying to please their tennants, strive to protect themselves, as they constantly make errors. Do not rent here!

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. I have lived here over a year and have nothing but good things to say about this place. I never hear my neighbors (and I’m very sensitive to that, having grown up in pre-​war buildings where the walls are very thick), my apartment is great, and the building is too. Having a big free gym, a great party room and lounge with big screen tvs, pool table, meeting room, kitchen, book exchange, comfy chairs and more is a real plus. There is also a playroom and a dry cleaners, and two staff people on at all times — a desk person and a doorman. Plus security guys and cameras everywhere. The staff have been attentive and genuine and any problems I have had in my apartment have been taken care of right away. Another big perk about living here is the ease of getting in — unlike other properties in New York, you don’t need to make 40 – 50 times your rent, hand over tons of financial information, and your left arm. You have to have good credit. It was a breath of fresh air. And speaking of which, the park below is a well-​kept secret (well, not anymore) and it’s great to have it right there. The only bummer is how isolated it is here — which some people like, but there is only one market and it’s a long hike to the subway on hot or cold days. In rush hour, there is a shuttle from the building though. Also, whatever feelings you have about Donald are irrelevant — he hasn’t owned these buildings in years. They just kept the name.

First off I’m very surprised their aren’t more reviews on this complex.
Especially with all the stars that live in at least 140 where I am.
Sitting right down the street from ABC studios where shows like THE VIEW and ALL MY CHILDREN are taped if you happen upon some of the numerous small businesses that they frequent in the area it’s not uncommon to rub elbows with the stars. (Alec Baldwin @ gym, William H. Macy @ elevator, Sherri Shepherd @ nail salon, Tracy Morgan @ elevator, Lucy Lui @ lobby, & Robin Roberts @ hallway.)
Location of this 3 building complex hugs the west side drive & sits directly in front of the amazing renovated pier 71 park in Riverside Park towering over all around it assuming 360 sunlight like the bully of the block assuming its role rightfully so as a TRUMP. Its entrance & presence is distinctly Trump with all the shiny gold & silver reflective banners & titles. Nicely dressed doormen almost always their to greet & service you a hand. I hear that 180 is the better overall in terms of service & layout but maybe not necessarily appearance but that’s debatable on indivual architectural tastes. The area surrounding is very family friendly & starter yuppie alike.
Now with that all said… are these people INSANE?! This building AS A BUILING is pure architectural blah! It has the worst water pressure of toilets ive ever come across… first thing upon moving in you will find yourself after about 48hrs running down the hardware store for a good plunger, this will be the most useful purchase you make as of yet second only to buying only single ply toilet paper. These things have clogged on 2 q-​tips alone I kid you not, hell you’ll develop body builder type calyces on your hands from the plunger if you have a healthy digestive system!
Now try toasting a piece of bread for you breakfast without setting off the insanely sensitive smoke alarms or not blowing a circuit every time you vacuum. Try turning on the air units. Without it making a horrible shrieking cranking sound as if it had mechanical lung cancer or the knob coming off in your hand every time you turn a dial on it or anything else supplied appliance wise here. For the high ass rent you pay you get the most uninspiring apartments ever with bland surroundings & downright pitiful kitchen that feels more like the one you find in a renovated pre war building. For the mountain high rent you would expect stainless steal appliances including electric ranges not gas and a much more efficient dish & clothes washers all made to look well together & from top of the line manufacturers. I also don’t appreciate the lack of edict of the slobs down in the gym who leave an otherwise nice place with equipment all over the place other than in its place, not to mention this is not a privilege of the workers here, they aren’t supposed to be using this as their own workout spot along with changing the family friendly muzak channel to the booty clapp’n skanksta’ rap they’d rather workout too.

If I were you id definitely want to move on to this strip for the insanly great location BUT if you can strive for the Rushmore up the block or the new glass & steel towers down the block, don’t just choose these for the name Trump because in the end the truth of your shallowness will become very apparent amongst those who know better.
And furthermore I am shocked that the stars that live here do so and am giving the majority of them the benefit of doubt that they have a very good reason.
This place shows you one thing = money doesn’t buy class !

I love this part of the City. In this part of the City the Skyscrapers begin to dwindle and it’s Trump’s 3 buildings at ¹⁴⁰⁄₁₆₀ /​180 Riverside Boulevard that define the New York Skyline.
I’d love to live in this part of NYC. It’s going thru a lot of revitalization and development and is very close to both Riverside Park and not too far from Central Park.
