Top Dog NYC

I called top dog to visit, so i can possibly adopt a dog. I was told on the phone that «several small dogs were available.» When i arrived not 25 minutes later, i was taken into the large dog area and past the closed door of the small dog area– and was told that «pretty much all the small dogs were adopted.» They showed me pit bull after pit bull. I am sure they are just trying to get the larger, harder to adopt dogs adopted, but i don’t appreciate being lied to. I ended up filling out an application for one of the smallest pits, then went home and thought about it and realized they deliberately mislead me, so they can forget it. I asked 2 guys there and they were very evasive about the small dogs. Its clear some were available, they just took me as a sucker. I do not want to start a lifelong commitment to a dog, which i take very seriously, with dishonesty. I have nothing against pits, i actually have had one before– but this is NOT what my husband agreed to. In addition, several times one employee suggested to me– clearly seriously maladjusted dogs because i was «stay at home.» (And assumed i would never leave their side, ever ever, and what else would i have to do all day, then seal with a totally messed up dog, right? I explained i am disabled, but that didn’t seem to stick.)
I gave a 3 star, because its clear they care about these dogs and they are working very hard for a good cause. I gotta admit; this is the second bad shelter experience ive had in a year. I adopted form Sean casey, a kitten– and he turned out to be deathly ill, and they chastised ME when i called a few days later about it, asking «why» i didn’t ask about the kittens health before adopting! I DID ask and was LIED to. I had to drive an hr back and then back home for treatment. The kitten eventually got better, after a lot of treatment and time– but as he got better, his true, horrible colors started to show. He is like a wild animal in my apartment, unlike the other cats ive had– and he terrorizes, bullies, destroys and seems to have 3x the energy of a normal kitty. We do our best and love him all the same. Im just getting tired of this guilt trip on the adopters– how EVERYTHING is our fault– we are the ones that ultimately care enough to take care of an animal the rest of their lives. We aren’t the enemy. And we need TRUTH when adopting a pet.

I am using top dog now for over a month and the dog walkers are professional and Edgar couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend this wonderful dog walking service.
