Description

Specialties

I work with people to create healthy, satisfying and lasting relationships. Clients I see may be:

* Having difficulty finding a partner

* Experiencing distance or emptiness in a current relationship

* Arguing too much without repair

* Suffering from anxiety or depression

* Finding it hard to get along with coworkers or supervisors

My services include individual, couple and group therapy. My approach may be different for each modality, but in all cases I will explore, challenge and gently confront you to make changes you need to have improved relationships, self-confidence and emotional health.

History

Established in 2013.

Although Therapy2Change was established in 2013, the owner, Teresa Solomita, LCSW-R, NCPsyA has been in the business for over 15 years. The origin of the name, Therapy2Change, was born when Teresa realized the transformational power of making changes in your life — internal or external. «Change is life affirming in either case — it could mean simply seeing situations from a new perspective or taking a leap and stretching yourself by trying something new.»

Teresa experienced this firsthand when she changed careers from her life in corporate IT as a Business Analyst to her newer career as a Relationship Therapist. «It took a leap of faith to take this chance and leave the benefits of a corporate career, but I had to be true to myself. I haven’t looked back once.»

Meet the Business Owner

Teresa S.

Business Owner

I am a NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a NAAP certified psychoanalyst with over 10 years experience in private practice. I have an extensive education in Individual, Couples and Group Psychotherapy and considers myself a lifetime learner — always reading, attending conferences and classes, and most of all studying people. I maintain my practice in Manhattan and Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn and I enjoy the diversity of clients that two locations affords.

I come to the practice of psychotherapy after 20 years as a Business Analyst Consultant working for Fortune 500 companies in NYC. Initially attracted to the complexity and problem solving demands of the IT world, I realized over time that I was more interested in the complexity of relationships in the workplace. I began to study psychoanalysis while maintaining my business career. Talk about complicated! Eventually, I was able to follow my heart and began to study and work full-time in the field of psychotherapy.
