History
Established in 2012.
The Tile Spark has been in some form for 17 years becoming The Tile Spark has been an adventurous journey. Finding the right products, the right staff, the right lead times, the right trucking and transportation takes a lot of listening and research. The right space happened upon us and so here we are. There is still much to do and we love all our regulars who are a challenging cast of characters that task us to be better and constantly updating products and possibilities. We always have our go to products but we also take on at least 2 to 4 vendors a year and their huge collections. Then the process of sifting and selecting happens. The Client elects the changing need in products due to style, trend and must have. Listening to what clients want determines more than you would think. I’m always listening and have a hands on approach with the sales team to what products clients are interested in.
We keep our eye on Europe and emerging trends as they arrive into a New York city conciousnes
Meet the Business Owner
Janet Z.
Business Owner
My name is Janet I’m Scottish from Glasgow I attended Art School there Scotland has a unique sensibility with interior design, tile and stone. Charles Rennie MacIntosh designed the coffee shop on Buchanan Street my Grannie used to take me too as a little girl.
I have always loves materials whither it is rocks from the beach or old stone stairs or my Grandparents house. I have been selling tile n stone in New York city for 21 years.
I used to work for an other company and could not grasp why everything was always complicated, terse and uninspired. Events transpired that made me decide to become my own Boss — as I always say we sell baked dirt for a living! It is more involved than that but at core that’s what we do. I am very hands on so any day of the week I can be unloading a truck, helping clients select products, designing with an Architect, reading blue prints, returning calls, sweeping up peanuts, e mails, designing new products,
shipping crates from overseas via ship or plane
