Special Programs

Many people just like you have benefited from customized programs. They have decreased their back pain, lost weight, improved their balance and flexibility, and received a significant athletic advantage in their respective competitive sports.

For instance, competitive runners improved their marathon times by using SPEAR’s multi-​video analysis technology in our Performance Runners Program. People with balance disorders, prevented falls, and eliminated their dizziness, by utilizing our latest infrared video technology in our high-​tech vestibular program.

History

Established in 1999.

Dan Rootenberg and David Endres co-​founded SPEAR Physical Therapy more than a decade ago. Since then, SPEAR has expanded to four locations in Manhattan:

Meet the Manager

Abby K.

Manager

Abby Karpinski, clinical director of SPEAR’s 56th Street location, earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from New York University. She earned her Bachelor of Science from James Madison University. Abby is a seasoned physical therapist, whose career has given her extensive clinical experience in outpatient sports and orthopedic physical therapy. Abby is also a certified advanced hip specialist through the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Abby greatly enjoys working with professional and competitive athletes, as well as the elderly and youth. She focuses on injury rehabilitation, helping her patients return to exercise, sport and life. Abby specializes in the treatment of the lower extremities and a variety of post-​surgical conditions. A former collegiate athlete herself, Abby was an NCAA Division I soccer player, team captain, and a scholar athlete during her time at JMU.

Abby possesses an expertise in soccer, skiing, and running.
