1. This dog park is huuuuuuuge, tons of space for your dog to explore and run around. That’s the best thing it has going for it.
2. There are five picnic benches.
3. There’s no water fountain nor waste bags provided.
4. There’s a separation between small and large dogs if you’d like.
5. A bit tough to find within the Fort Tryon Park.

I just hate the immense guilt I feel whenever my pooch is kept locked up in the apartment, so I’m always looking for things to do with him in the city. I discovered Sir William’s dog run on my way to the Cloisters and was incredibly excited! Here was over an acre of land dedicated solely to canines! A place where my little guy could run and frolic, sniff butts and chase balls without fear of cars or dog-​hating bystanders! Plus, the park’s got good seating for me (picnic tables) and shady areas.
I subtracted a star because the park does not have any sort of water fountain of the dog or human variety, and because I wish there were a bit more grass (my pup accumulates dirt like nobody’s business).

This has to be the best dog run in the city!!! I live in Harlem where there are at least 4 dog runs within 15 blocks of my house and I would rather travel to FT if that says anything… I used to work as a dog walker/​groomer/​pet care professional in Hudson view Heights so I have frequented this dog park for many years with my clients… However, now that I have a dog of my own I appreciate this dog run so much more. I can let my tiny Pomeranian in with the large dogs with no fear bc the dogs are so friendly and the owners so responsible… I could never do this anywhere else… Everyone looks out for everyone elses dog… The park is large and clean its awesome!!!

I moved to the edge of Inwood/​Washington Heights about a month ago and was so happy to discover this amazing dog run in Fort Tryon Park. Its very close to the playground near Broadway and Dyckman– kind of up a little hill and you can’t miss it.
There are always a lot of dogs here having the time of their lives. Little dogs sitting on the picnic benches, huge dogs tearing up the dirt chasing balls, a separate grassy area for loners who want to roll around in the weeds– its got everything! I was so excited to discover the dog park on 165^th when I lived in Hamilton Heights and this one is even better!
