Reaction International

Sharon Tanner is quite possibly the worst broker I have yet to deal with in Manhattan. She is the type of broker that gives rental brokers a bad name and I would NEVER recommend Reaction International to anyone.
I emailed her about an apartment and asked very specific questions before viewing as to not waste anyone’s time. She wriggled out of answering my questions, but assured me the apartment was available.
She sent another sleazy broker to deal with me. I believe his last name is Trumbull. I was told to meet him at the address of the apartment and he called to say the address was wrong on the listing and he’s at a further location. (MUCH further) Of course, I arrived at the address and it was not the apartment I wanted to see. I called Sharon on the phone and she continuously lied about why I was not at the apartment that I responded to her about. After she lied about getting it confused with another apartment, yada yada yada, she continuously attempted to get me to see other apartments with her. Right.
And, by the way, I showed Trumbull the apartment i THOUGHT i was seeing on my phone and, while I thought he was looking at it, he creepily planted his own listing site on my browser. Hilarious!!!
This company is a complete joke.

The 5 stars are for Jacob Twena, the agent who was helping me in my apartment search in Dec 2013-​Jan 2014. 4 stars for the real estate firm. Jacob, is a funny guy, who takes his work very diligently which is unlike my experience with many other agents in the city. Jacob is very responsive on emails and prompt is scheduling calls and discussing options. My wife & were looking to relocate from Pittsburgh to NY and Jacob was helpful even though it was difficult to coordinate viewings. I had an unpleasant experience with his firm on one of the properties, where they chose to show it someone else even though we had expressed interest in any new openings in that apartment building. Nevertheless, Jacob was of great help and he and his firm are very well connected to listings even before they come on streeteasy or
. I would certainly recommend him to my friends/​family looking for apartments in the city. Thanks Jacob!

If I can give negative stars. I would. They ask u to sign these agreements of the property they show u except they include the entire building rather than just one apartment. The agreement is for 180 days. And also they cheated with the no fee. They are suppose to write it down. But they dont. If u aare new in town and doesn’t know how things worknhere. Stay away from them.

I called for some info on a listing I found on StreetEasy and talking to this rep, Ajibola (Sam) Ajayi, was like pulling teeth. The questions he asked were totally inappropriate and illegal. Plus there was a kid screaming in the background. Totally unprofessional and not someone I’d want to do business with.

Like the poster above, I used REAction International to help me find a Manhattan apartment. Not only did I find myself extremely disappointed and wasting half a day, but the broker herself was egregiously unethical.
1. When we met, the broker was horribly unprepared. She knew well ahead of time my requirements and expectations, yet still tried to show me apartments that were clearly not suitable. She changed the location of our meeting place last minute, and did not even have appointments at any of the buildings we visited. We literally walked from building to building with her asking if there was a leasing office or any vacancies in the building. I did not fly all the way to NYC to have my time wasted like this. This broker even had the audacity of insisting she be the only broker I worked with (don’t trust a broker if she says this).
2. Fed up with having my time wasted, I cut the appointment short. The brokerage agreement she had me sign earlier only had one building listed. The next day, she emails me a PDF of the brokerage agreement I signed with ADDITIONAL BUILDINGS listed as well as FORGING my initials next to them! When questioned directly about this, she even went so far as to say perhaps I confused her with another broker!!!
Moral of the story is, DO NOT use this brokerage firm. They do not have access to «exclusive listings» nor will they make your life easier. If you must use a broker, use one that comes highly recommended either from someone you trust or rated highly on a public forums such as Unilocal– this agency’s LOW rating is VERY well deserved and accurate.

I recently used REAction International to help me find a Manhattan apartment. I was seriously dissapointed.
1) They do not have the market knowledge that you’d expect from a NYC real estate brokerage. They took me to a building that was clearly not a broker friendly building and had me submit an application. I submitted the application and bcc’d my broker. When the management company responded they were very unhappy to hear that a broker was involved and it seriously jeapordized my chances at that apartment.
2) When the process continued, it turns out that the management company only wanted to deal with the tenant directly and I had to do all the negotiations myself.
I told REAction that I would only pay half of the broker fee because of the situation and they refused! Not only did they jeapordize my application they insisted that I pay the full fee. Truly a ridiculous and unethical situation and I highly recommend that any smart person either try to find an apartment on their own or only work with a recommended broker (if you are OK with paying a fee).
